  1. Monday I sheared off all 4 bolts on the drive shaft/diff. They were fully threaded non factory POS bolts. It looks like the threads got pounded flat, allowing a little bit of moment, then it was just down hill from there. So what do you guys use? What is the correct spec for these bolts?
  2. I had a little... accident, and I need to get my girlfriend's tail gate fixed. It is a 2005 chevy in the tan/silver-ish color. Minor dent and missing paint in the dead center. Its a small job and I need a decent local shop to do it. Suggestions?
  3. On the seams? I doubt you can do much harm unless you way over heat or burn through. Some will question how effective stitching up the seams are at all.
  4. I would love to see someone dyno their car with shorties, then long tubes and measure the gain. My guess is that it would be a very hard earned and expensive couple HP.
  5. The gauges are from Speed hut. I actually got the idea from another member's install. The cam is a compcams .480 lift (about all I can go on stock vortec heads) I have the exact specs at home. I am still working on getting the car properly tuned. It currently has a joke of a short 9" air filter on it with a paper element. The Edelbrock carb is not so great either. But despite that and despite being built by me in my garage it put down 300hp and 320 ft/lbs to the rear wheels on a chassis dyno yesterday. I hope to improve on those numbers and flatten the curve a little with some tuning/upgrading.
  6. Thanks guys. She still needs a lot of work. I want to clean up the wiring, add a fan shroud, oil cooler and remote filter as soon as I can afford the parts.
  7. I had the same problem... For it turned out to be the POS foam air filter getting sucked into the carb!
  8. She runs! Custom speedhut gauges courtesy of an amazing girlfriend. I know you cant see much in the video but i thought i would share anyway.
  9. I am looking for a small block, short block or long block, good running condition. Stroke motor would be great. Let me know what you have.
  10. Lets see some good examples of street car roll bars.
  11. That cage looks very well tucked away and probably would not be too much of a hazard. Though it is very hard to tell how the body will stretch and contort in an accident. For myself i determined that even with seats positioned on the floor the S30 chassis is just not big enough to put a cage far enough away from the head of a 6 foot tall guy. Though I will say that I feel head butting a 1.5" dia tube with cage padding or head butting stock sheet metal is probably not all that different, as far as PSI. But thats like, my opinion, man.
  12. For now I have discovered that if I double clutch the 2-3 and 3-4 shift it is much better, as long as I am fast and the revs are up. So, I will get by like that for now.
  13. TKO may not be bomb proof but it is a lot better off than my poor T5. Plus I found a great deal on a coworkers used Ford TKO, so in the hybrid spirit I am adapting the Ford tanny to my SBC. I found that QuickTime makes a adapter housing for the for to SBC its part number RM-6064, the other option is to replace the input shaft with a chevy piece and drill out a bell for it. I figured while im down there I had best get a scatter shield. I will post some updates when I finally make a move and get a tranny together.
  14. After some research today I have pretty much concluded, if you are making a good amount of horsepower (400-450) there is pretty much no way around dropping some money on a beefy transmission. There may be a TKO in my near future...
  15. My T5 just started clunking/grinding as i shift from 2-3 and 3-4. What can I do about this? Are the syncros giving up? Anyway to extend the life of it?
  16. They sent me a manual for free, just have to contact the right person! Im not sure she would appreciate me posting her contact info in a public forum so PM inbound.
  17. It's too far gone... Looks like you will have to sell the car to me, and cheap too.
  18. There are a lot of people who have very fast cars on R200's my guess is you have some other issue going on.
  19. what about the cobra brake setup? It seems like a nice compromise between weight, stopping power and price.
