  1. I wanted to buy that car! I just missed it. Clearance issues and all that was a hell of a deal!
  2. If it were me... I would cut them out and and replace them. I would also grind out all welds and make a pass over them. Perhaps I have trust issues.
  3. I would be interested in a set of those hubs, is the producing them or were they 1 offs?
  4. I have Summit Racing's, Summit brand mini starter. It was pretty inexpensive and has worked flawlessly for a year of daily driving. Highly recommended.
  5. I am getting a 404 file not found, but i would love to check it out. Can you give me a link or email mllave@gmail.com?
  6. I absolutely love your white vette, where can i see more pics?
  7. How the heck does that clear the wheel?? You have to roll on 22's!
  8. Aside from having a different spline count on the the input shaft the v6 version is also not as robust as the v8 I would highly recommend you cut your losses and dont use the transmission, sell it before you destroy it and make it worthless. I wish I had!
  9. That is terrible. I am so sorry for Ross and the family. I have never spoken with him but he has in some way influenced me. Thank you for everything Ross, my best to you.
  10. Not something I would want to show off, but also not something I wouldn't do myself. It looks like he got a plenty strong enough connection for that part in question.
  11. I have an expensive Miller Elite and i am NOT happy with it. If you google miller elites you will find that a lot of people are not happy with them. There are a lot of issues surrounding the batteries and auto function when tig welding.
  12. Huh. I just found a vortec head motor, with a cam, edelbrock RMP intake for $600 complete on my local craigslist. You can find parts on a budget just keep looking.
  13. Google is your friend. A lot of that basic info is easy enough to acquire. Your combo is fairly similar to my first motor and tranny package, which was a load of fun! Right up to the point in time where it blew up. Read the FAQs and read up on basic SBC info, sounds like you have a set of vortec heads. I would start by writing down casting numbers and figuring out EXACTLY what you have.
  14. I am no expert but generally, I cut until I reach solid metal. Cutting in straight lines makes it a heck of a lot easier to make a nice fitting patch. The fitment of your patch will ultimately dictate how difficult it is to weld up properly. Just remember you don't want to create additional work for yourself. Sometimes you can cut to a location that makes it easier to weld up. Like on my floor board I cut until i reached the flange of the frame rail, that gave me a nice sold piece to weld to. Sometimes the body lines and contours can help prevent warping. Honestly, I dont think there is any one right answer for you, all situations are different and everyone has a different technique. Take your time, dont rush yourself into creating more work. -Mike
  15. For what its worth I have heard of this option as well, havent done it myself though.
  16. Mounting seats is difficult in any application. Its always a compromise and lots of work. I am a fairly big buy and bought a set of OMP bigs (the model is actually called big). Guess what? They are big. Maybe too big. I have cut out the hump on my 260 and replaced a portion of it. I am a ways out from mounting the seats for real or I would share photos.
  17. I am happy to see a Grumpy post. Always informative.
  18. First of all, your drawings are very nice (I am a CAD drafter for a living) I think that your product will definitely satisfy a niche of people who do not have welding capability but want to beef up that area. Personally, by the time I am already drilling holes in a frame and fabbing plates, I am just going to fire up the mig welder and be done. I would follow John's advice. Best of luck to you.
