  1. EXACTLY! Studs are fine for exhaust, bolts for the intake.
  2. Ok guys? Who is this kiznook? I owe him/her one! My sides still ache from laughing so dang hard... :lmao: :lmao:
  3. That is a long nose R-200, it did NOT come from any of the '90-'96 300-ZX cars! the '90-'96 300-ZX recieved the short nose verartiy. If that diff came out of a 300-ZX, it would've have been '84-'89. The LSD was available in the '87 and '88 Turbo cars, ('89?). I think it was an option, not standard in the Turbo cars, except for the limited edition pearl white cars which it came standard and are quite rare. Hope that helps, Paul
  4. Thank you guys for the kind remarks, Mark, Got your PM. LOVE your car! Just curious; 1) Do you recall which brand and part number or specs for the valve springs you were running when the first pair of springs broke? 2) Do you know approx. hours of run time or race miles on those springs? 3) The shop that did the repair and valve train setup, did they replace all the springs as a set or just the broken springs? Do you know what springs they used for replacement? As for next season, I think I can help. I’ll send you a PM with details.
  5. Yes, you can mod the pan to within 1/8" or so of the windage tray. If you are willing to notch or cut away a section of the windage tray, you could modify the pan to the same depth as the windage tray. For example, the forward section of the F-bod oil pan is so shallow that its windage tray does not run full length as it interferes with the forward section of the oil pan. For my current LSx project, I ordered the Improved Racing products bolt in trap door baffle for that added protection during aggressive back road and autocross driving, info here; http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=141988 The thread linked below regarding LSx oil pan and extreme lateral G-loading applications is a good read, (thank you JMortensen for the link). http://www.corner-carvers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40998 When I was mocking up my LSx Z-32, modifying the oil pan to the same depth as the windage tray was my plan as well. These pics represent were I needed to modify the LSx pan for the position I was going to place the LSx in my Z-32 conversion. Lots of measurements, mocking up, etc; http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=144469 MAGENTA represents the rack, GREEN represents minimum material to be removed for adequate clearance using rubber engine mount isolators, up to the same depth as the windage tray. Hope that helps, Paul
  6. Oh my… HybridZ quote of month! “There is no greater force in the universe than VTec.”
  7. Too cool! One of those the noise doesn't fit the car!
  8. 4 .8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0, 6.2 and even the 7.0 all share the same external dimensions and foot print in regards to the bellhousing and engine mounts. I.e., if a 5.3 is in the vehicle and running, the 6.0L bolts right in place of the 5.3, as does the 4.8, 5.7, 7.0, etc. Just be sure you keep all the accy drive components, intake manifold, etc in the vehicle getting the swap as that is where the differences lie. Hope that helps, Paul
  9. And there in lies the difference between Honda's and Hunduh's! The person or idiot behind wheel! Normal citizens aware the world does not revolve around them drive Honda’s. Young punk ass kids who feel the world owes them something and he/she should be respected and revered as someone far more special than they really are, Honduh drivers! Unfortunately so many wanna-be punks have latched on to the Honda badge as their moniker from which to display their self righteous "specialness", giving a totally respectable automaker a sour reputation that has become the poster child for the Ricer stereotype. It is shame really. Because of the stereo type, I wont even consider a Honda when shopping for vehicles. I have nothing against Honda vehicles, nice quality commuter vehicles, have seen some very powerful custom versions, it’s the Honduh image that has tarnished that badge, in my mind any how.
  10. Thread title of "What do you think guys?" is vague, title edited.
  11. Picturing Dave standing at the entrance of the shop, arms crossed with that look a Dad gives his son… “Clive! Put the sawz-all down and step away from the car! Go to your room and draw the pretty picture, Joe and myself will do the work!”
  12. If you have 4 intake bolts on top removed, and the 6 exhaust nuts that also capture the intake, (not just any 6 exhaust nuts, but THE 6 that hold the intake as pictured below), if doesn't come loose, more than likely you have a stuck gasket. Also, you do have a service manual of some sort right? Even a Haynes manual? Also, Please read these 2 links! They will help your transition into the HBZ community be a much smoother one. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=131518 http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=139501
  13. cool, just wanted someones opinion, that has used their datsun for more then cruises and car show's. If i keep my engine I think I'm just gonna get a motor plate and line it up with the strut towers, then cut the firewall a little to move the motor up, to avoid ground clearance problems. Sound good? (also you wouldnt happen to have a huge version of that pic would you?)

  14. My opinion is hands down, JTR, ftw! :2thumbs: The ONLY thing JTR gives up to the Scarab is the JTR uses a different hood latch, a much cleaner hood latch vs the stock! JTR has much better engine placement for weight distribution, and the shifter for manual transmissions comes out in the stock location with the JTR. The JTR mounts are lightweight yet very strong, JTR is located in your neck of the woods, the list goes on...

Below is a picture of my first V-8 Z, JTR mounts, Chevy 350 with Iron heads, Iron water pump, World Class T-5 trans. I LOVE how the engine looks and fits in the engine bay with the JTR! Shifter was in the stock location. My 280-Z went from 50-50 weight distribution with the L-28 to 49%fr-51%rr with the JTR! Weight distribution went slightly rearward, which I feel is better than 50-50.

  15. Alright BRAAP, lets get down to brass tax, JTR vs. SCARAB....

  16. Nice clean 280Z you have there. Cemetery as a backdrop for an old car?... Hope it's not some form of "message" regarding the cars immediate future..
