  1. The Z-32 LSx conversion was... With the M3, the LSx IS going in, because it fits without having to cut up the car up! , (and the M3 is a far better handling car, more comfortable to drive and ride in, seats 5, with the M3 engine was faster than the Z-32, cost LESS to purchase than my Z32 and last but not least, is WAY FRIGGIN easier to work on than the Z-32!) I was thinking for an LSx encore, an LSx powered VANS RV-10 woudl be nice...
  2. I'll be the first to admit that I fit that picture perfectly!
  3. How many you need, all 12? Set of 12, $25 shipped to the Bay Area. PM me if intersted.
  4. Same reason whey we have all those buttons my dear son.
  5. First post out of the gate, lives up to his user name! Hope his reputation makes a turn towards the “self sufficient”…
  6. If the car sat for any period in its past, the tank could be rusty which will continue keep clogging the fuel filter. Clogging fuel filters show up as the description you described, drop in fuel pressure under load conditions, good pressure at idle and light cruise, depending on bad it is clogged at the time. If this drop in fuel pressure was present immediately after installing the new filter I'd be inclined to to think its not a clogging filter. Correct. That could be the issue. If that filter between the tank and pump presents enough of a restriction, even clean, (any filter will present some restriction depending on how fine it filters and its filter surface area), the fuel pump wont be able to draw adequately through it, causing the pump to cavitate and not "flow" adequate fuel under load. If it were me, I would remove the hose on the inlet of the pump and verify the pump inlet screen is clean, then remove that pre-filter G3 filter and drive the car again. Hope that helps, Paul
  7. Your fuel pressure indications are key to your issue here. At WOT, fuel pressure should be a steady 36 PSI. If fuel pressure drops during WOT then you are not getting adequate fuel supply to the injectors, that will cause the popping out the intake, (lean misfires caused popping out of the intake, rich misfires cause popping out the exhaust). Typical causes for dropping fuel pressure, in order of priority to check; 1) Clogged fuel filter, (They're cheap enough, should be changed once a year any how). 2) Clogged inlet screen to the fuel pump. (Remove the large fuel hose, look inside the inlet of the pump, you will see and inverted cone type screen, which will get clogged up with rusty tank debris). 3) Fuel pump going out, (usually because of clogged inlet screen). 4) Crimped or restricted fuel supply hose/hard line, between the tank and injectors. Visually inspect all the fuel hoses and metal lines for kinks, crimps, dents, etc. Small dents in the lines usually aren’t an issue, it will take a noticeable pinch to cause this. 5) (This is a feeble stretch, but “could” happen I guess). Poor electrical connections to the fuel pump not allowing the pump to get full power. Hope this helps, keep us posted on your findings.
  8. Raise the engine up a couple feet, mount a prop on the flywheel flange of the crank, (constant speed prop would be cool), a quick and dirty rudder and ride it around the flight line!
  9. Nope, we didn't "jack" with your account. You'd know if we did. Looking into this further.
  10. Mag, Went to U-pull-it yesterday looking for some parts for my LSx BMW conversion, (ended up bringing home some Merc 190 parts that I will most likely end up in my BMW), and they had these 2 running Merc 190’s for sale! Our God daughter is looking for a first car, loves BMW’s and Mercedes. We are going to look them over bit closer tomorrow… The white car has Infiniti wheels on it, (J30, G20?), busted pass tail light, not sure what is going on with the driver window or pass window. White car; Brown car has that tacky chrome wheel arch chrome; Brown car; This U-Pull-It lot is a target rich environment for Euro and Japanese cars. A Z-32, handful of J-30s, couple Q-45’s, LOTS of ‘80’s and early ’90 BMW E-30 5 series and 7 series, (one 750iL with the V-12 still in the car) only one E36, trashed out convertible! Lots of Mercedes cars, 300 and 4 & 6 cylinder 190’s…
  11. Their customer service is also quite good. They sell lots of LSx goodies, conversion goodies etc. http://www.nookandtranny.com/index.html
  12. Rolling Parts, Very cool! Good work and thank you for sharing.
  13. Glad the info was of use. I'd like to take a place in line behind MoNkEyT88 for the F-bod Alt and Alt mount.
  14. 1-2cc of material is what is removed from valve unshrouding. A small portion of that, if not all, can be gained back during surfacing depending on how much material is removed during surfacing, which is dependent on how warped the head was or if the customer specifies a minimum of material to be removed during surfacing.
  15. I just received a decent selection of various JTR hose splices they are offering. The ID has a nice taper, not stepped! http://www.jagsthatrun.com
  16. On the topic of shiny objects, my generation is not immune. Being 41, shiny objects can easily distract for hours on end. I received a package From Mike Knell, (Owner of JTR, author of THE conversion manual), full of cool little shiny pipeular goodies. Not content with just staring at them, had to fondle them, feel the smoothness of the finish, admire how the 40W cool white fluorescent light would refract off the various facets. The glint, glimmer of so many parts… I just had to set them up all pretty like and take some pics. RTz even came out to the shop and spent quite a few minutes admiring the shiny goodies. Radiator hose reducer splices he is selling for various Hybrid Conversions http://www.jagsthatrun.com
  17. There are tree different OE belt depths, or belt offsets for the LSx accy drives, (GM refers to it as FEAD, Front Engine Accessory Drive). Truck was the furthest away from the engine. F-body and GTO are half-a-belt width in from that, and the Vette is an entire belt width in from that, (see pic of the crank dampers for the visual). In short, you need to keep all of your pulleys and idlers matching including the crank damper, i.e. Vette damper with the Vette Alt and P/S bracketry and A/C bracketry and idlers, etc. This link covers the accy drive differences much more in depth, as well as oil pans, water pumps, etc; http://www.nookandtranny.com/Info_LSx.html Hope that helps, Paul
  18. MAG58 may come across in his posts as a much more mature person but the reality is, he is actually 5 years "younger" than you!
  19. I did a remote oil filter, placed it on 45 degree angle, driver-side frame rail forward of the rack, just behind the radiator. Made oil changes a breeze and did allow a little more freedom in exhaust routing, not having to make room for oil filter changes.
  20. BMW V-10 powered E30 M3 vs 1000 HP M5! Cars hit 260+ KMH, (161+ MPH)! I guesstimate their roll start to be approx 30-40 MPH, to 260 KMH! Game, set, match!
  21. Yeah, just look at the evolution of cel phones! How many are actually just phones? How many cel phones are at least as much phone as they are game machines/circus acts? From... To....
