  1. I am more looking at the smoothe texture as a way of making the dash less "plasticky"... dont really know if this would accomplish that. One more thing. Do you know how well this would hold up to UV exposure? I would have to bondo the whole dash and so would lose the flexibility of the dash. Would this mean that extended exposure might crack the dash?
  2. I wasnt planning on using the paint on any fabrics. I was hoping it would work well on the plastic interior trim pieces (including dash and center console). I think that painting it a matte black with that microsuede texture would be a cheaper/easier alternative to covering the dash in fabric.
  3. Those look really good!! Mind if I ask how much you payed for them?
  4. Thanks for the writeup. Do you have any pictures of the final mounting.
  5. There are a few pictures floating around of fiberglassed z dashes that have been painted with a glossy finish. I am on my wife's computer otherwise I could post a couple of the ones that I have seen. Its not my favorite look, I like the matte look much better.
  6. So if i was to bondo my dash than the vinyl paint wouldnt really be enough to cover the bondo would it. Will the vinyl paint work well over some kind of primer?
  7. Sounds like a good inexpensive solution. I will probably just try the vinyl paint.
  8. Haha, two hours... you are a persistant man Phil!
  9. I have thought about it. Haven't taken the plunge yet though, I dont really have enough money to play with though.
  10. The small amount of information that I have found on this stuff says that it is really durable, they actually use it for an exterior paint. Covering the dash in cloth is an option it just seems like a lot of work and I dont have a whole lot of sewing experience. What about some other alternative interior paints. I would like to color match the car and covering every plastic piece in cloth would be a pretty big undertaking.
  11. Hi guys, I have been looking around for a good alternative to getting all new interior pieces to change the color in my 77 280z. I was looking for some good quality interior paint and I found a paint made by Alsa Corp. They call it a soft touch paint and it says that it resembles leather when finished. I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with it or something like it. I would really like to use it on my dashboard, I think it could really improve the look of the plastics. It's pretty expensive though and I dont want to spend the money making a mistake someone else has already made. http://www.alsacorp.com/products/softtouch/softtouch.htm
  12. I bet that thing is a handful in the snow...
  13. The color combo you have now is very close to what I have planned. The only thing different I want to do is blacked out chrome and black bumpers.
  14. I Have those same wheel lock on my car... Havent tried anything to get them off yet.
  15. Your jackstands scare me... But that exhaust exit is going to look pretty cool
  16. I have heard that you can remove the bulb covers that tint the light a different color (cant remember what color they are... lol) Removing these covers can slightly increase the amount of light on the gauges. Another option that some have tried is LED's Do a quick search you will find that this is a common problem that many try and fix.
  17. I love it!! It looks awesome and i bet it is freakishly light.
  18. Body kit looks like its made out of plywood. That thing is all kinds of fugly
  19. Does look a little funny but other than that I think this is a gorgeous progression of the corvettes design. And I have to say I am getting a little tired of all the chevy vs. nissan garbage. I love both of these cars (ZR1 and GTR), given the opportunity I would take either.
  20. I dont think it would require a custom head, you could probably rig the actuators directly to the valves or rockers of a normal L engine head. The speed of the actuators would have to be extremely fast though.
  21. I think i found this on here but this thing is a visual orgasm of perfection. Who needs poppet valves!!!
  22. Very true, I wasnt really thinking about gas mileage.
