  1. i had a problem similar to this on my front struts. Installed some tokico hp shocks along with eibach springs. heard a light thunking when i hit small repeated bumps. finaly narrowed it down to the shock hitting the gland nut on rebound. took it apart and put the spacer that tokico provided in and no more thunking. I dont know if thats your problem but its an idea to check.
  2. Well, i think i had this coming since birth. My grandfather always messed around with cars. He would fix them up and trade them. When my dads family moved to Tennessee in the 70's my grandfather started working on datsuns. He had 510s, 610s, trucks, you name it he owned it at one point or another. Unfortunately i never had the chance to meet my grandfather as he died the same year i was born. My whole family says im his reincarnation... I have been interested in cars since day one. Throughout my childhood i drew pictures of cars that had a long nose and a hatch back rear that the Z is known for. I first found out about the S30 by an interest in the 350z. I googled 350z and it showed the picture of the Z on MSA's website that has the msa type 3 body kit; Been hooked ever since. Got my first 260z my junior year of highschool. It had a slick paintjob and a chevy v8 nestled between the frame rails. It was a fun car, and definitly the coolest one in the parking lot. Well worse came to worse and i wrecked it; effectivly wraping it around a tree in January of 08... a nice way to start off the new year. Flash forward to september 08 when i found my current car. Bought it from the original owner and had no rust. So far i have swaped numerous parts from the first 260. Ive put on tokico hp shocks, eibach springs, poly control arm bushings, u-joints, and numerous other things to make this car driveable. I swear i could disassemble and reassemble the front and rear suspension with my eyes closed. So far im 18 and have owned 2 260z's and i dont plan to stop there. It really is a disease! So i was destined to own an S30. Datsun is in my blood like it or not. lol
  3. Yeah, it couldnt be more confusing. I installed the taller of the two in the rear thinking it was right. I guess the height has nothing to do with the spring rate.
  4. Thats what i was afraid of, oh well. Thanks for the clarification i though that may be the problem.
  5. I just got finished installing the eibach pro kit that msa sells. Im having a problem with the rear sitting too low. When im in the car its sitting very close if not on the bump stop. Maybe i installed them wrong, isnt the shorter spring suppose to go to the front? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Just checked and got a number off the front spring it is 188597 is this right?
  6. I had a problem with the battery leaking down in my first 260z. Never could find where the wiring was faulty (installed painless). Instead I put in a battery cut off switch that I would turn off whenever I parked the car. It solved the leak down issues and served as an extra deterrent for would be thefts. Although its not really a solution to your efi problem, its just an example of what i did to solve the battery drainage problem.
  7. Well, im glad someone got some. We got enough just to color things a shade of white, but not enough to have fun in.
  8. Line number 3 is definitly the vent that went to the charcole canister. The way i determined the fuel feed and return lines was to put gas in the tank, put a hose on one and blow in it. If you hear bubbling sounds its the feed. If you hear nothing try the other line till you hear the bubbling. Thats how i did it and it worked like a charm.
  9. I have only been pulled over 3 times. All of them ended with a citation, and all of them were within 1 year. The first time in my first z the night i wrecked it for not having the proof of insurance. i was too shook up to find it, found it the next morning took it to court and they threw it out. The second time in my 95 s10 got me for going a 65 in a 40. went to court and got off on "probation" that it wouldnt go on my record if i didnt get another citation within 6 months, still had to pay a $50 court cost. The third time was in my truck again 60 in a 55. Yeah, got that one 12-5-08. cost me $100... damn city cops im just grateful it didnt add any points to my record. luckily i havent drove the new 260 enough to even be pulled over.
  10. im daily driving my 95 s10 for the time being. These chemicals on the road has turned the poor thing white. Its basicaly stock for the exception of a 2in body lift and some larger tires. hopefuly ill be daily driving the z in the warmer months, hopefuly. on to the pics.... both of the money pits together.
  11. I guess i would consider myself lucky in finding my 260. It was the most rust free z i had ever seen. I only paid 1200; bought it from the original owner of the car. Would have been happy paying double that with the condition its in. enough braging, good luck on your project. What a learning experience these cars are.
  12. I got a heap of tools; metric and standard ratchet wrenches, socket organizers, air powered cut off wheel set, and other small tools that i dont already have. All and all a good christmas. Speaking of the indoor rc helicopter, my little brother got a set. We have been flying them all day!
  13. I have two of the crazy things. The mint almost stock 260z that is getting all the attention now, and the wrecked chevy powered 260z that became the parts car.
  14. I had the same problem with my scrab mounted 260z. It wouldnt snap the speedo cable but would chew up the speedo gear. After a hard time trying to figure out how to route the cable so it wouldnt bind i gave up. I also came arcoss the site mike posted but could not justify spending $88 on a 90 degree adapter. Me being lazy and poor took the plastic speedo gear out of the trans and went on my marry way. I had a friend ride beside me and tell me how fast i was going, and i memorized the corelation between the rpm and speed.
  15. i started about a month ago. class list as of now: chem1 w/ lab, pre cal, comp1, and world civ. chem and pre cal are basicly refresher courses for me. I dislike my english class although the teacher is one of the best i've had. My world civ class is the most boreing class ever!
  16. Its tons easier to just remove the control arms with the strut assembly instead of swinging it out like you did. Its a tight fit inbetween the fender lip and the spring hat as you found out.
  17. when i replaced my shocks i did the same thing minus the finger part. OUCH! Its a whole lot easier to take out the whole assembly, swing arm and all trust me. you will have to unhook alot of stuff like the half shafts and the brake lines but you wont have to sacrifice fingers in the process. lol
  18. i dont believe that this car is too far from running. i drained the old gas out of it, did a compression check today, and checked for spark all seems to be in order to fire right up with a carb and fuel. Im just not sure if the 4 barrel intake is worth me buying a new 390 carb, just to not run well.
  19. Now get ready for this. I payed a whole whoping 1200 for this beauty. I basicly stole it. lol
  20. im kinda weiry of this intake manifold, you would think that the carb being lower than the actual intake ports on the motor would effect performance. J Taylor, did you ever run that car with the 390? Im wondering if it wouldnt be better to get a better intake set up before i spend the money buying a new 390 just to have it perform poorly.
  21. No, he meant the last 260z i had. It had a scrab mounted v8 in it. Oh yeah, that look is the best, either its a 240z, or a 280z. Noone has ever heard of a 260z.
  22. I just bought a 74 260z, to my supprise has a 4 barrel intake. I have never seen anything like this on any other Z. Im kinda wondering if its custom or part of a small run? on to the pics.
  23. I think im going to stick with the 6 for now. Who knows i may build an I6 for this one. The fish thing is something that imageshack put into the link to the pics.
  24. Well the story starts off on last wensday, my dad calles me telling me about a 260z thats about 1 hour away for sale. I called the seller and talked to the nice lady about the car. She told me that she had owned the car since 73 when she bought it new. I asked about the magical 4 letter word RUST! She said that there was none! The next day i went to look at the car, to my supprise it was in remarkable shape! The car had been parked in the garage since 91. The clock still works, it has the original jack and tool kit, and the original spare tire! It also has a (custom?) 4 barrrel intake. The only down side is that it has a sun roof put in, and the passenger side has been backed into. It is the most solid car ive ever seen in Tennessee, or atleast in my area. So enough talking on with the pics!
  25. Its co2 injection to lower the intake temps, interesting. I wander how long a bottle of co2 lasts when it is used in this application. In paintball, the tanks run out fairly fast when relesed into just the air.
