  1. guys i went to the track again to get some better times with 18 psi of boost and a better ic.Well i went up did a great burnout and then staged.Light turned green and boom clunk clunk clunk.I knew exactly what it was the diff mount that i just changed about 3 weeks ago broke again This thing is new it even still has the stickers on it it's so new.I'm stumped what do the big hp guys do to keep the diff planted and still have drivability?I know there is a solid one but man i don't want the noise of it.I had a strap on it tight it was aircraft cable but it keeps pulling it apart and i had it tight. I didn't have to worry about this last year the clutch must have absorbed it all.The clutch from timz is just insane when it grabs i love it just wish the diff would hold.Anyone got any ideas?
  2. scottiegnz is the one that makes the dp's i'm not sure if he is still making them but you could ask.He does do good work:)
  3. hey craig i was just making sure it wasn't starving for power Hey i have been meaning to ask you when you got your 12.6 what was on the car and how much boost and what you have done to the car?Just trying to see where i stand with mine. When i can afford it and when it blows i plan to go to forged pistons and while i'm in there i plan to put in a better cam.
  4. and it helps alot so far no hesitation at 18psi we will see tomorrow when i get more time to try it.I didn't have any 10 gauge wire so i had to use 8 gauge It's all i had left over it was from a stereo install.I know i am getting enuf power now I'll see at the track also this weekend if it helped alot.
  5. Ok guys i didn't want to post a whole new message about this and i saw you guys where talking about it on here. How do i know what trim i have on my turbine wheel?I know my a/r for the compressor housing is .70 but i don't know the trim and i'd like to know more about my turbo. All this talk about maps and stuff makes me very curious to learn more.I'd like to know where the "sweet spot" is for it and anything else i can learn about it.Thanks guys
  6. the color is just orange as far as i know and it's ppg paint i just used a fleet paint chip and it matched my seats so i used it.
  7. those scales are pretty accurate i weighed mine on the same type of scale and my 76 280 z with just a msa body kit weighed in with a full tank of gas at 2700 lbs and with me in it it would be 2830 lbs I don't weigh much
  8. thanks again guys, the wing i got from a firebird(got it for free) and made it fit my z.I had to refiberglass the legs of the wing so it set right on the car took some time but i like it cuz i know no one has one(that i know of).Rated it was really easy i did mine in a garage with a dirt floor (it's all i could find) and the floor was wet so no dirt blew up.But i'd suggest cleaning it really good the garage that is.Make sure you have alot of light i didn't and i have some small places that could use a touch up but not bad.I had my friend give me pointers, he's the one that works at BMW as a body guy. So he was giving me 2 years of school over the phone in 5 min so i forgot alot. What i did was make sure i got just about everything really good before i primered it you know sand all the scratches out. Then shot it with primer and then me and my friend jd(no not jack daniels ) sanded the whole car with 1500 grit paper and smoothed the whole carout so it was baby soft. Then i was instructed by my friend to shoot a very lite coat of color(orange) so it looks like i dusted it so the new paint would hold to the primer better. Then put on two nice coats of orange and that is the results right there in the pics.I used the mirrors from an 83 zx with the electro de-ice stuff and tinted. i plan to hook the power up to them soon so i can enjoy the luxary of power mirrors If you need any more help rated i'll try to help.I'm no professional but i thought it turned out very good.I have to buff it out when it dries totally cuz the car has so much surface area i couldn't paint the whole car on one can(the can on the gun) of paint.I had to mix more and spray the other parts so i have some over spray on it i have to get off. This winter i plan to do it with base and clear when my friend comes back from BMW school and then we will get all tricky same color but metallic and some pearl into it to make it nicer with maybe a ghost z on the hood Oh ya you don't need a big tanked compressor just one that will constantly push out 30 to 40 psi.I would use alot of plastic if i was you the garage we painted in is just for storing cars for the winter so it didn't matter if it was orange
  9. i wondered about those door locks maybe i'll pick up a set too. They do look nice i just wondered if someone with a set would be able to open your car or if they are all different.I noticed that the apc stuff lacks instructions and info on the boxes.Has anyone tried to unlock another set of locks like that with their keys or knows if they made diff keys for the sets?
  10. Thanks,it does look nice i had a friend i haven't seen in about 4 months come over cuz he thought i bought a new car I have 205-55-16's all the way around the car i am gona get 225-45 16's really soon(if money permits) I took off the front turn signals cuz i thought they where just too big.I replaced them with little led lights for turn and running lights. Now the car is where i have always wanted it.I get people waving to me and i don't even know who they are Must be the car
  11. ok here it is after the emblems are on and wing is mounted. www.zdriver.com/rides/showpic.php?name=scottyMizt_1028472427.jpg and www.zdriver.com/rides/showpic.php?name=scottyMizt_1028472141.jpg Oh ya don't mind the white spots it's raining when i took the pics today.
  12. damn that was quick guys and thanks i painted it myself and i'm very happy with it.And it looks just like the pic in person except for now i have all thee badging on and the wing so it looks better.I and my friends did a great job on the body work...thanks jd
  13. here it is www.zdriver.com/rides/showpic.php?name=scottyMizt_1028440462.jpg hopefully that works
  14. ok took some advice and got colder plugs but i had to get them in ac delco again cuz it's all i could find.No one had ngk's so i put these in and the thing ran like it did before hesitating and crap.So i took them out right away and put the ngk's back in and it ran great I just have to find some 8's or 7's in ngk so i can not be scared to run it.
  15. finally gonna have time to do it I just plan to shoot it realy quick so it looks half way decent and then repaint it this winter the right way.She is gonna be a bright orange maybe i'll leave the wing black and the mirrors but i'm not sure yet.I'll post pics when it's done
  16. ummmmm ok you guys are over my head now but tony if you figure it out soon and i don't have my new system then i'm in.
  17. Ok update the by pass tube didn't work.... well it did but didn't it was very hard to tune and when i did it wouldn't run good at low rpm.Now someone prolly could make a better design but after the run i had in it with the bypass tube and the spring loosened it hauled ass but like i said it was hard to get to run at low rpm it wouldn't run smooth thru the whole range of the engine. It just showed me the potential of my engine with a good engine management system. The car pulled much harder with the bypass tube and much leaner but i couldn't have driven it on the street too much.
  18. My name is scott and i'm a boost-a-holic. I was the same way rated i started as you did then moved up to 9 with no ic and stock pop off valve. Then all hell broke loose when i got an ic and i haven't been the same since. Since then i have spent alot of money making more boost and more power. My lady is very understanding i am lucky to have such a nice and understanding one. They don't come too often so you have to hang on as hard as you can. Since my intro to turbos i have tried to turbo just about everything i have,I'm hooked too
  19. i have the bpr6es plugs and they are fine so far.I plan to make the bypass pipe tomorrow i just didn't feel like it today.
  20. ok guys got some reg ngk's and it seems to be just fine now runs great no hesitation and in about 500 miles or so i'll check the plugs for breakage. Thanks guys
  21. man when i smoked the kid in his cobra he was mad he couldn't believe my import six cylinder beat his "fast muscle"car needless to say he doesn't talk crap now
  22. i don't have a coldstart injector in my car.But it's a good idea i just need more air for the fuel my car is choking.
  23. hey guys my friend and soon to be brother in law works for bmw and he said they are quick but the supercharged ones i don't think are realased yet(i could be wrong). He said it makes his 4.3L vortec in his sonoma feel like an escort. He is gonna get one soon so we plan to turbocharge it.I got him hooked on turbos now and they come with an ic already it's actually a nice sized one.I can't wait to mod it
  24. i'm not gonna let it lean out i'm gonna keep a good eye on it.I can't afford to rebuild it this winter cuz if i have to then i'm going to do it right and i just can't afford it right now. I plan to try it tonight if it doesn't take too much time if it is going to then i'll do it tomorrow.I'll let you know sleeper how it turns out.
  25. ok i think some people might have tried different things with the stock efi system on the turbo cars.So here is what i want to try, me and tony fruzza have beee thinking how to make the stock system run leaner with big injectors and he and i thought up to by pass air behind the afm and loosen the spring so it's easier to get air and easier on the spring. So i was thinking today that i'll make a tube that ties into before the afm and then again after it so it'll have a nice way to bypass the afm and it will be a constant flo of air unlike drilling holes in the afm flap that changes the weight and dynamics of the afm flap.I'll put in a 3" ring between the afm and turbo and then just weld a pipe angled around so it's a nice flo around it and loosen the spring to make up for the difference in air flo.I think that's what is making my engine choke sometimes it's not getting enuf air to match the fuel and it gets hesitation from that and the afm so hard to open(tony's thinking).Well has anyone thought of this and if so did they try it and what where the results?I have to find a way to make this system work until i can save enuf to get a good system.Plus it'll help the others who are poor like me
