  1. That's so hard! I've still got a Powell & Peralta Mike McGill board that I break out every so often, with rail gaurds and extra wide Indies! I don't skate nearly as much or as hard as I did before I got the metal plate installed in my ankle, but I still enjoy it....27 years old now, and hope to be cruising on my board as long as you, man!
  2. I also like the F2y Seadart, the only seaplane to exceed the speed of sound. It was only a prototype though. I blame my love of multi-purposeness on watching robot shows as a kid where one thing would turn into something else (Voltron, Transformers, Mask, Gobots-blegh!, and of course, the ultimate: Robotech!)...
  3. looks like a bomb bay is open. I'm with Eric, the WWII warbirds are the business for me. I went to the Honda Grand Prix in St. Petersburg FL last year ('06) and they did a mock dog fight between an F-16 and an F-86 Sabrejet that was pretty spectacular. Still though, I really like all the experimental planes from the end of WWII, like the flying pancake:
  4. Yeah, if you think about it, turning on the heater runs another fan as well (the blower fan), and it doesn't cost you any drag on the engine like kicking on the AC compressor would.
  5. I think that what you are seeing is that all those numbers are rated in lift, positive lift being up, and negative lift being down. Or maybe I've got it backwards?
  6. Pm'd you some better pics (though not much better I suspect). They were just some quick ones to show you what I was working on...I'll be sure to get some nice ones when it comes time to actually submit them!
  7. Plastic is non-conductive, that's why it's used in the casing. Moisture that is not connecting the two poles of the battery and completing the circuit should have 0 effect on battery life. I could see temperature affecting the chemistry inside the battery (and it does actually, that's why batteries have a rating in CCA-cold cranking amps as well as CA-cranking amps), but that's about it. Concrete may affect a battery's life adversley over a long period of time due to it's temperature, but it's not anywhere NEAR the battery killer the old timers would have you believe. I've worked in parts for 7 years now, and I've been around a LOT of batteries, both new and old, on shelves, pallets, and concrete floors. New batteries went bad on the shelf over several months regardless of whether they were on the floor or not.
  8. I love the way these type of intakes look when they are sealed in a clear plexiglass box for boost purposes...
  9. Davey, Mikey, and Eric, you guys have mail at the yahoo address...
  10. I don't think I'll be PMing anyone pics besides Eric after further consideration. No offense to anybody, but like Chewie mentioned earlier, it's not supposed to be a popularity contest, so it just doesn't feel right trying to get people psyched about the one I'm making versus anybody else's. Just trust me when I say that supposing my model is one of the final contestants, there will be NO doubt about who was responsible for it...I've got about 16 hours in the fabrication alone already (I've got a boring job, in case there are still some of you out there that haven't gotten the memo about all my free time...), and I'm down to final paint and details on the model itself! Now down to the background (this one just begs to have a background if I do say so myself).
  11. They've got a forum on the Mythbuster website that already dealt with the concrete battery drain myth. (it IS a myth by the way, there is no science to explain that)
  12. How so? I've seen it done on a LOT of high dollar race cars, so there must be something to it. I think what you want is a fairing over the entire front of the wheel, and then the easiest path for the existing air to exit out the back. Like what we see on this car:
  13. I've got some good stuff going, if you aren't going to be in, I'll PM you some pics, but if you are, I don't want to give away all my secrets...
  14. Specimens must never make eye contact...ain't that the truth! Oh wait, did I just say that out loud? Sorry honey!
  15. I'm having such a hard time not posting progress pics...I've done all kinds of cool stuff, and it's killing me not to have anyone to show it to! you other guys are SO in for it. Prepare for total JADA toys 1:24 240z model customizing domination!
  16. Either vented, or cut and faired in to the inner wheelwell so that the air has a smooth transition out a la the open fenderwell designs.
  17. That ebay auction has no cams or valves...I wonder how much it would cost/how hard it would be to turn that thing into a running engine after block welding and cylinder head repair?
  18. Definitely looking good OTM! I'm thinking of doing a new one that will incorporate some of the cool stuff that was going on in the Aero thread (mostly like the side skirt stuff). I've been kicking around some ideas along the lines of what Jmortensen was asking to have tested with the full fascia molded into the flares.
  19. All kinds of Cosworth motors (among other things) for sale on this page: http://www.race-cars.com/engsales/complist.htm
  20. That's too bad...It sure looked promising from this side of the internet!
  21. that engine REALLY looks good in there...
  22. Lookin good Eric! I just got my model today, it disassembles very easily...I'm torn between two different ideas that I've got going...Now that I've actually got the model, I'm very reluctant to do permanent mods to it. Oh well, nothing ventured...
  23. Hey Ron, how are things coming with your scratch-built car project?
  24. I had the manager of a local wheel rental shop roll up on me in his S13 hatch with knock-off SSR Professor type wheels on it to tell me he liked my "Advans"...I don't have Advans, my car has Impuls on it, but it led to a conversation through the window during which I found out he knows a guy I used to work with that has a 260 with triples and a dual exhaust. I told him to pass on the message that I said hi, and took off. I don't really drive my car enough to get this type of thing much, but I suspect that given the nature of my paint and half done fascia project that I would probably end up talking to more than my share of crazy guys...
  25. Eric works for Jada, this is kind of a promotion in disguise. Doesn't bother me any, I think it should be a good time (now if only my dang model would show up...)
