  1. I didn't have to touch the left [driver] side of the tranny tunnel but did massage the right side. Discovered later that if I had modified the thingy [can't remember what it is but am thinking reverse or such] on the right side of the tranny I could have avoided any massaging. What we did for EvilC's swap is take apart the plug on that connection [which comes straight out of the tranny] and run it at a 90 degree angle. Doing so provided another 1" + of room! Hope this all makes some sense...
  2. Chris, have one-email me. palermodavid13 at gmail.com
  3. Cam, I have wiper motor, linkages, everything-pm sent.
  4. Sweet-how about posting a shot of the rear end
  5. A few years back I found his [shin] cutaway 240z print and thought it a great fit for my z collection. Had Mr. K sign it at our 2005 convention and he mentioned that he & Shin are good friends and I should call Shin and ask if he'd autograph it. Anyway, I call and after a wonderful hour long conversation where we discussed all the amazing things he's seen & done over the years tells me to ship the poster to him. It was promptly signed, returned and now is framed and hangs in our home. He's a true craftsman, artist and automotive afficionado!
  6. I had to shorten mine as well as some mild massaging of the trans tunnel. Initially he [John] sent me the wrong tranny mount [sent it for a 280] and yelled at me over the phone saying it was my fault and I didn't provide sufficient info as he requested. Not sure how much more he needed; vin, build month & year as well as stating it was for a 240z... Eventually got the same one you see in Litman's photo. Hindsight I'd have purchased only his engine mounts or gone the C5 mount route Litman did and fabbed or paid someone else to fab the trans crossmember [think better fitting with the trans tunnel & greater exhaust clearance]. I personally like the trans mount that SUNNYZ made for his 77.

  10. Alain-I think what is important [especially as we on HybridZ-all about accepting differences] is that we each do what best fits our own needs & desires. I attended an HPDE last weekend with the BMW club [whom I instruct with] and a friend of mine was driving his 2011 Z06 and blew the engine-threw a rod out the left side of the block. Mentioned that to my tuner and he commented that he's seen the same issue with several of the LS7's in that the titanium rods, while strong, can break under 'enthusiast' driving and in the same sentence stated the LS1 is a much more reliable mill. I would love to see more that have their LT headers installed with dyno info & driving impressions posted!
  11. FWIW: Keep in mind that I requested/have a conservative tune designed for durability & longevity. My goal is not maximum hp/tq but a tune which allows me to drive my z hard at the track or on the street without winding up in the shop frequently with a broken engine. Many times while visiting the shop that tuned my car I see other LSx powered cars that were broken due to [fill in the blank] and have no desire to join that crowd. Tuner estimates my car would see another 10 hp & 5 tq utilizing a more aggressive tune.
  12. Indeed-I'm curious as well as to what a built engine will see as a result-think EvilZ's will be a good example-think he has; cam, intake & throttle body.
  13. That lack of response is completely unacceptable. Have you tried texting him [do you have his cell-417-880-2329?]. I'd call him multiple times daily until you get a resolve and/or begin the process with paypal.
  14. Dyno sheet as promised. RWHP +16.31, RWTQ +6.41. Same dyno, same tuner, same tune, no mods other than the long tubes. Top lines for each are long tubes, bottom lines for each are the sanderson shorties. Sounds a tad meaner and has a bit more kick from the right pedal.
  15. Subscribed! On the tranny mount, I have the JCI and don't like it for the same fact that Rebakah'z stated-it does NOT conform to the trans tunnel. Check SUNNYZ's-made his own and allows significantly better exhaust clearance. For the headers suggest you read the LT thread here. Many pages and lots of good info. Now that my install is complete I also added some 'do over' items at the end of the thread. Great build & love the WWII paint scheme too!
  16. My engine is a 2001 LS1 pulled from a Trans AM / ram air car with only 20,000 miles before someone totaled it. Mods include; ported/polished oil pump [to combat oil starvation on a road course], double row timing chain [after seeing several vettes in the shop that tuned my z with the stock single chain broken-at track events], underdrive pulley [greater pulley to steering rack clearance] and a ported & polished throttlebody. There have been zero mods since installing the long tubes and the tuner gave it the same tune as before [conservative-think reliable/longevity]. No other mods that what I've listed above. Tune/dyno pulls done on 93 octane pump gas.
  17. Update: header install complete, exhaust complete, dyno'd & tuned yesterday-same shop & dyno where it was originally done back in 2006. I pick up the Z today along with dyno printout [asked him to lay on both '06 & new charts together to more clearly see before & after-which I'll post soon along with the brand of dyno used]. For the exhaust I purchased 3" to 2.5" transitions from cone engineering and have them installed at the header-allowing me to run 2.5" tubing until after they merge into a single 3" for better clearance. Will do my best to post pics of that as well-need to get it on a lift first. A couple of hindsight 20/20 observations or-if I could have a 'do-over'... Order headers without v-bands-this would allow me to weld the 3-2.5" transitions directly to the collector then weld 2.5" v-bands onto the transition ends Have oxygen sensor fittings unmounted/welded-so we could best position them for optimum fitment after test fitting Maybe even leave the right collector unwelded allowing more precise 'angling' for the tighter 240z floor pan Have a bit more ground clearance on the right header and room for the stock LS-1 starter
  18. And yet another fine example of what Hybrid z [or windshield washer pump] is all about!
