  1. I've been thinking about taking my spare twin butterfly TB for the LT1 and having the throat bored out and making a single oval butterfly. I am sure that this would greatly increase the the airflow through the TB and make the throttle response better. Have any of you LT1 guys performed such a mod? Is it effective? Is it effective enough to be worth the time, $$$ and effort? The hamster running the wheel in my heads thinks it would be Tim
  2. Wow...on this site, that's quite a blanket statement Tim
  3. I believe grumpy has posted this info before a couple of times. He doesn't post all that often, so I bet if you click on his profile and then click on all his posts, you will find all the SBC info you could ever want.... Tim
  4. Do you have a Chiltons or Haines manual. It is a very simple process, but will take a lot of typing to show you..... Tim
  5. Sounds like fuel it getting passed the needle and seat. Too much fuel pressure?, or some dirt in the bowls? Tim
  6. Bill, I believe it was to combat vapor lock from underhood heat effecting the fuel in the lines. My 73 240 that I sold also had one...can't remember if I put it in, or if I bought it like that.......old age is catching up to me Tim
  7. Giving this post a heartbeat again.......found this one and I think I may give it a bash: http://www.goingsuperfast.com/quickrelease.html Different 'levels' of hub I guess. The type 3 has caught my eye. It just looks easier to grab and pull back a collar than to mess with the pins in the other models I've seen..... Tim
  8. Maybe John Coffey would be interested in doing it....don't want to talk out of turn, but this may be right up Beta Motorsport's alley? Maybe he will chime in.....
  9. To drive the fuel pump naturally....
  10. There are pages upon pages of info on the R230. Do a search.... Here is one to get you started: http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=29426 Tim
  11. .......And Darwin rolls over in his grave......
  12. I have the corbeau Clubman seats in my Z. I made my own mounts for them and I may have to actually raise them up a little. I am 5'11". I wish I could have put them about 1" further back. That would have made them perfect, but they are fine where they are. Tim
  13. Hey man, I remember your handle. Glad that engine is working out for you. Have you put it in the 240?, or still running around in that hideous orange thing.
  14. You can run the car without the TPS connected. With fuel injection, pumping the gas pedal won't accomplish anything, just hold it down. Sounds like a major vacuum leak. Tim
  15. Make sure you have them run the wheels on the machine BEFORE pulling all the old weights off the rims. That way you'll know. The S.O.P for tyre shops is to yank the weights, then spin the wheels, which won't tell you a thing. Tim
  16. Yeah I agree that a small supercharger may be a better idea, and much cheaper and easier. Even the small roots style one with about 5 lbs would give the SBC a good kick. Tim
  17. Matt....like I said, the Falkens aren't even a choice (Size availability). The car will never see wet roads. Also, I don't want to spend huge $$ on tires for a car that won't be driven everyday. Thanks for suggestions, I'll check them out. Tim
  18. Ressurecting this thread as I will be needing new tires soon (and likely new ones very soon after that ). I would love to get Falkens...they are by far my most favorite brand, but alas, no choice in 245/45-16s. Are there anymore Kuhmo Ecsta 712 users out there that can weigh in? Tire Rack reviews swings so wildly from positive to negative that I can't tell...... BTW, these will go on 16x10 rears and 16x9 fronts on a car that will see weekend warrior status only, so mileage isn't ALL that important. Grip, value and looks are the drivers. Tim
  19. Have the balance rechecked. You could also try having the wheels high speed balanced (on the car balancing). Off the car balancing (static and dynamic) is usually only accurate to about 5 grams. On the car balancing (if you have a good operator) can be accurate to <1 gram. Tim
  20. Sounds to me like the fuel pump is being starved for fuel. Double check the lines. Also, you may be getting vapor lock in the lines. Are your fuel lines protected from the heat of the engine? Try wrapping them in some heat shielding tape. Tim
  21. This topic has come up before...about a month ago. Tim
  22. Beautiful smack down...F'in precious!!!! If you don't mind, I'll keep that one in the back of my head for my next encounter with an a$$hole!! Tim
  23. Didn't they make gill nets illegal...man they should have included this application of them too!!!!
