  1. Devilbis guns are decent guns. MAke sure that you strip the gun and give it a good cleaning after each use. Then reassemble and spray some thinner through it. Glad to hear it's going well. Tim
  2. So far RSVPs from: Owen Spencer (Oltman) Van (Two40MuscleZ) Bang Dave Hanashiro (SanDiego) Matt (SkinheadZ) (& Mrs SkinheadZ ) A couple of people haven't RSVP'ed yet: Dave Greimann? Big Phil? John Coffey? Everyone is welcome, just let me know ahead of time. Tim
  3. Look Joe.....if you really want to do it, then go ahead, it's ultimately your decision. Just take a few precautions. Have a few buddies go down the road a mile or so and bolck any traffic that may 'come along'. with cell phones have them buzz you if cops show. (maybe they can pretend to have a broken down car). At least that way you will take some variable out of the equation. Just make sure you stay in your lane!! Good luck... Tim
  4. This topic has been visited several times. Do a search and you will find a lot of input. Tim
  5. I'll try to post some tomorrow (have a date with the Wife tonight!). Color is: PPG Amethyst Violet Metallic. 1998 SAAB color chip book. Looks black until direct light hits it, then there is a deep pearlescent plum purple. Absolutely gorgeous, and that from a very fussy person! As for prize....I'll buy you a beer next time you're in CA! Tim
  6. Chase, Make sure that the plastic is COMPLETELY sealed. Even in a sealed downdraft booth there was crap in the air. Then, cut out a section where the blowing fan will go and tape the filter to that cutout so it's completely sealed again. Put the fan up against the filter. Cut a vertical slit for you to get in and out of, and tape another sheet of plastic over that slit (on the inside). That way the slit is covered and you can push aside the extra piece when you want to enter/exit. Then cut a series of slits in the side opposite the fan (for air to escape), and then tape a piece of plastic on the outside of the 'tent' covering those slits. That way air can escape, but if the wind blows, it will push the extra piece against the tent and no crap can get in. Hope that helps.... Tim BTW....Not silver Tim
  7. Good luck Man! Hopefully this will be the end of your woes!! Hey, maybe you can even have it done by the 2nd Nov.!! Tim
  8. Chase, I know exactly how you feel!! I just sprayed my car last Sunday! I spent 120-130 hours on the rear panel alone!! I've spent 2 years doing bodywork, so having the car in color is a HUGE landmark for me!! So anyways, I can appreciate your excitement. One piece of advise that I can give is to look VERY VERY VERY carefully for small imperfections, like sanding scratches, little nicks (especially on the edges/folds in the sheetmetal). Those things will stick out like lighthouses once the color is applied....trust me on this one. I went over my car for two days doing nothing but closely inspecting for the above and thought I was in the clear. Once I got it to the booth, my neighbor (the body guy who shot it) found about a dozen spots that needed attention!! As for the fan, make sure that the fan is blowing in, not sucking out, unless you have an explosion proof fan (class 1, Division 1,2 compliant), otherwise the paint vapors can ignite!! Use an air conditioning filter from Home Depot to blow through to keep the dirt down, and wet the floor down before you begin spraying. I was lucky enough to get the use of a down draft heated booth. After the clear was applied, the cure cycle in the booth sent the temp to +155*F!!! Good Luck!! Tim
  9. Yeah, pretty funny.....but I'm gonna be the killjoy here: That is not the sort of thing you should be doing in front of those 2 impressionable little minds. It's no wonder the youth of today are so damned violent!! Tim
  10. Well, thats about 1/2 true. Actually, I just haven't had time to even take any pictures for my own little documentary library. I also don't want to show it before it has some stuff bolted back on....she looks so naked and I don't think that she will appreciate me showing her nakedness off to the internet world Tim
  11. I doubt that you'll get the diff casing as hot as it would get at normal operating temp. You won't hurt anything. You don't need to get it red hot....just warm it up for about 90 seconds or so. Tim
  12. Go to the parts store and get a bulb holder that is for park/turn signal lamps. It will use the bulbs that have two filaments. The holder will have three wires (I think), 1 - positive for park, 1- positive for turn, and 1- ground. To wire it the way you have it now....no idea..... Tim
  13. I've found that this trick will work 100% of the time, at least it has for me. Heat up the female side of the threads (the diff casing in this example). Get it nice and warm. A heat gun for soldering from Home Depot will do the trick (use MAPP gas instead of propane, it burns hotter). Then, with wrench/ratchet ready, hit the bolt with a can of compressed air (holding upside down to get the liquid CO2 to come out). Then turn it loose. Tim
  14. Cut it off and make a convertible!! Best left to a bodyshop. Tim
  15. BTW, 1 Pound Sterling is worth 1.673 US Dollars, as of close of trading yesterday Tim
  16. I just ordered a shaved door kit for the Z. This place is definitely the cheapest that I could find. His prices are cheaper than listed on his website (because autoloc gets pissed if the prices are cheaper than the big guys...Summit etc). I got the 35lb kit for $149. It's listed on AutoLoc's website for $250. Nice guy, great service...give him some business if you need these types of things. Located in San Dimas, CA Frontline Sales: http://www.autoloc4less.com/index.html AutoLoc Corporate Page:http://www.autoloc.com/products.lasso Tim
  17. That's the exhaust brake, which is also referred to as a 'Jake brake'. It uses the compression of the engine to slow down the truck. Tim
  18. Hmmmm....maybe it's to receive FM in true stereo LOL.... I do really like how it was frenched in though!! Tim
