  1. Is the pushrod back as far as it will go in the booster? Needs just a touch of clearance to the MC piston, a few thou from memory, also from memory I think you can look down into the MC to see if the piston moves when the MC is bolted to the booster. Its a while since mine was done, don't forget a spot of rubber grease on the back of the piston.
  2. Yeh, many cars are lowered without considering the effect on roll centers, its a very important consideration. Of course the easiest way to adjust those centers is to raise/lower the car, I'd suggest aiming to have them where you think they should be with the car in rake. By that I mean with the front of the car a bit lower than the rear, which incidentially promotes good airflow around the rear of the car.
  3. So you could stick pipes into the big holes and run them into a plenum. Certainly a good idea.
  4. Don't forget the relationship between the front and rear roll centers, basically the rear center should be higher than the front, not a lot higher but some. Getting the roll centers right is more important than getting the C of G down a bit by lowering the car so leave some room to adjust them in the overall design. Nice discovery by the way, lot of advantages in using late model steering/suspension. Oh and on your query above, the outer part of the LCA should be lower than the inner ie the arms should slope down from the inner pivot point to the outer.
  5. Whats the proposed relationship of the undertray to the ground? That is, is it parallel, higher at the front....? And why? As you know this aspect is relevant to downforce.
  6. Yeh covering the front face of the tyre is the go for the reasons Jon mentioned.
  7. Harder bearings are best for a high performance application, softer for a daily driver. I've been trying for ages to get a cheap VG33 to play with, I have a TT crank just waiting to be popped in.
  8. Decided to ring Shell tech, see what they say. But if US fuels have significant levels of toluene already and SAE is a American standard then SAE hoses should be fine, one would think.
  9. So who is going to design a similar suspension for the Z, that is the question.
  10. Yeh I could never get solid info on what it took to fit a forged DE/DET/DETT crank and while the cast crank is supposed to be good there has to be a reason why Nissan did not cast all their cranks. A 3.7 would be great, I'd get the block checked first to be sure it can be safely overbored to that though. At 3.7 you would have to get as much power as from the 3 liter four valvers one would think, cheaper and lighter too.
  11. Had no problem when doing a CV conversion on a 260Z, from memory some factory setups use a tripod joint each end?
  12. Reading somewhere the other day that the 33 block can take a big overbore to increase the capacity by a fair amount. Would have liked to use the 33 in my 280ZX but, due to doubts about the cast crank in a high performance situation, went with a VG30DET instead.
  13. Does anyone know if SAE spec fuel injection hoses are toluene tolerant? Heard tell that it hardens hoses and can cause them to spall inside, so blocking fuel filters and so on. Thinking of using up to 30%.
  14. Apparently thats the way they talk, the language used and the 'accent'. There would be a lot of background behind her comments, so called race riots and stuff in the past. She would be called a 'skip' by some, skip short for skippy, the bush kangaroo from a children's TV series.
  15. Not sure what the workshop manual says but mine were adjusted so they were barely touching, they were certainly not dragging at all.
  16. Turns out she was taking the piss, having a laugh at the media, cheeky cow Yeh 'wog' is a sort of mild derogatory term in AU, hard to explain, depends a lot if you are serious or not, originally for darker skinned Euros, like some Italians. Now been extended to those from the Middle East. Who she was referring to and I will stop right there
  17. No interest? The woman has caught some flak for using the word 'wog', I thought she was very observant, make a good witness. People get upset about words yet shooting or knifing someone passes without comment. Unreal.
  18. Yeh sure but not with the stock rack location. The more I think about it the more a custom front X member seems to be a practical alternative that can be designed to address several issues, including sump clearance when installing a front sump motor.
  19. Went through this Ackermann stuff years ago with the S30, from memory there is not much Ackermann possible with a front mounted rack like the S30's. Although the angles can be tweaked a bit by bending/altering the steering arms, which I did gaining a slight improvement with turn in on slow corners. But most rear mounted racks are set up so there is Ackermann, its much more practical in terms of available space to locate the relevant steering components for that purpose.
  20. Don't know how long the link is good for or if this will appeal to others but we have been wetting ourselves laughing about the chick taking off the 'speech' of some of our 'valued members of society'. Video here, maybe NWS. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/814694/man-shot-twice-in-leg-in-inner-sydney
  21. Thats in Victoria, AU, fulle sik dorifto
  22. This clip was taken at a circuit I go to
  23. There are plenty of pre R35 Skylines involved in motorsport in AU, time attack, targas, that sort of thing. A well prepared one will still beat most everything in short events no matter what badge and $ although a lot of them are getting tired by now. If my S130 ever gets fully smashed a GTS-t would be top of the replacement list, can't understand why more are not raced in the US, they truly are one of the great cars.
  24. Nylon zip ties seem OK, nylon is used in other auto applications and seems to perform and last OK.
