  1. Yeh, build pics and info for all. This car should be an inspiration to S30 hybridZers, just a shame that in my country there would be no realistic race class it would fit into. Incar race videos coming up?

    It Works!

Yery nice work and a simple but significant improvement, well done. Any reason why it was not done off the ring gear teeth? I'm told that if the number of teeth is evenly divisible by the number of cylinders then the ring gear can be used. I was going to do that off the VG's ring gear but its all chrome moly so that won't work. Then again I have an aftermarket ECU. Writeup would be great.
  3. Hmmm, been thinking about auto transmission on the Z, thats inspiring
  4. Thanks for that Jon and Steve, sorted.
  5. Very good point, if commentators are not sure of what you are asking they should seek clarification. First
  6. Yeh the numbers were a bit messed up Jon, seemed to be stamped 39:11 but marked 369 in white as they do. So it will be either 39:11 or 39:10 then?
  7. On the crown wheel, ring gear, take your pick. Marked in the usual white. Thing is the gear has 39 teeth, don't know what the pinion has but if 11 then the ratio would be 3.55:1. Any idea as to what pinion the 39 teeth gear matched?
  8. The only question I can think of is does that Unisteer unit have a variable effort control? It looks like its designed to be bolted to the firewall in the engine bay which is a plus, if there is spce for it to fit of course. This is a good thread
  9. Aren't carbon clutches very susceptable to oil etc contamination? Apparently it does not take much to do them in eg some oil/grease mist from the throwout bearing. Or is that kevlar or some other exotic material?
  10. YouTube is fine if the right settings are used when uploading, there are instructions for this on their site. YT used to be rubbish, not any more. Nice video, beautiful country.
  11. Thats a great site, thankyou, some info there on the infamous flying Mercedes CLR99 that I mentioned in another thread. Note how far back the rear wing is on that thing.
  12. Its my understanding that a pointed front end does not result in a problem, providing the rest of the object's shape is suitable.
  13. Maybe he was about to pull out to pass the car in front, whoooosh, oooohh!!!! next time I will use the rear view mirror!!!
  14. All good except for that rear end. Looks very different to the rest of the car, very riceboi.
  15. Yeh, my guess would be that it depends on the situation and environment as to which would be more appropriate. Like the 'track' surface, the fact that the car will be running straight and so on. As we know, some aero setups are more susceptable to environment changes than others so perhaps it would pay to run a conservative setup, rather than risk a takeoff situation. I don't know but perhaps some of the earlier 'long tail' LeMans cars, except a certain flying Merc Benz, would provide a good guide
  16. There is talk of someone buying the Simmons plant but at the moment there is bugger all wheel choice in AU for RWD offset four stud wheels, except maybe ROH. Importing from the US is a proposition when our $ is good but suitable custom stuff in the US is not cheap. An alternative is get an agent to bid on suitable used wheels on Yahoo Japan, check around some AU forums for names of those who do that.
  17. Keep what you have and buy another project car to do the things you are thinking of? Thats assuming you need a daily driver, may as well keep what you have, enjoy it and use your creativity on the new one as time and money allow.
  18. Wasn't Ferodo Greenstuff based on an asbestos compound which is no longer legal? The dust is not safe anyway.
  19. Typical tight arse Kiwi. Good idea though, pretend you are in the US, not far away
  20. This one http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/7AD1/50-1421 looks like it may be sort of historically accurate. Anyone know?
  21. Thats easy, you are the one with all the hair
  22. Friend of mine races a US 280Z replica in a historic race class and does very well. Only thing is he needs a historically (fairly) accurate front spoiler but can't find one, the rules don't allow a modern type. So, any sources, new or used? Would have to be freighted to Australia.
  23. Can't it be used to put false pics of youself on to attract the opposite sex and win hot dates? If not its pretty useless
  24. Yeh I used square tube for the reasons you mention with my Mk 2 arms, wrap around double gussets with the round tube Mk 1 versions. Taco style With square tube its easy to cut a piece of tube on an angle and fit and weld it into the V where two pieces meet, instead of using gussets.
