  1. For you USA people I'm sorry to say that the cost of freighting that stuff to the US will shock you, which is probably why there is no response to your enquiries. It will be just too expensive for 99.9% of you. Obviously I can't give a firm figure as its not my stuff but there were some quotes a while ago for body kits from Aerotech in New Zealand to the US where freight was many 100's of $. Maybe a search?
  2. Nothing much here, me and the car were having an off day. Its in HD widescreen though, 30 fps for the techies. Note: its time attack, we are not supposed to pass uninvited except on the main straight.
  3. Like a lot of things, good and bad, this sort of thing started in the USA but is no longer restricted to that country. It often boils down to the fact that some people would rather lay blame elsewhere than consider their own actions.
  4. Well R888's are a race tyre, a semi slick to be precise. Their on track performance is similar to other semis, understanding that there are variations in compounds for various specific purposes. Semi slicks can be driven on the road but generally its not adviseable, there are much better tyres around for that purpose.
  5. No idea for the US, could do you some suitable pads if AU.
  6. Very nice work. At the very least that will definately reduce drag and reduce lift inducing air flow under the car, particularly out of the engine bay. Be interested in how it drives at high speed and how cooling is affected, if at all.
  7. Yeh this 'S30 is so much more a sports car than the S130' is just pure ignorance talking, another Z myth like the Goetz saga. I was talking to a bloke just the other day who used to race a 280ZX in a production (standard) type series back in the day, he said it was up with the best on a race track. And he particularly liked the way the rear suspension could lay power down on corner exit. But what would he know
  8. Yeh he would have been doing 200kph down under the bridge using opposite lock, with the armco right there, waiting to claim another victim Then you have to wait for the car to settle after the drop down, before braking for the left hander up the hill. Its good, gives me more confidence to push harder
  9. This bloke is ~4 seconds a lap faster than me, car is a junky ex Jap drift Silvia 180 that needs a lot of sorting, tyres are Toyo R888 semis, engine a moderate power SR20DET, car still has a sunroof, CD player etc If you want to compare see the video I put in the Motorsport column a couple of days ago. Anyway here is Crazy Harry last Sunday
  10. V8 sound plus those wheels = tough stockcar.
  11. Its a two seater 280ZX I assume. Seeing its a fixed window you could custom something different that would fit, probably be more practical to use plexiglass cut to shape in that case. Obviously the body metal will have to be reshaped to suit, not a simple job but doable.
  12. Second one http://autospeed.com/cms/A_2456/article.html
  13. Kiwis love their Rugby Union, its the only game they are sometimes good at
  14. Its like a lot of things, if you make your design decisions based on recognised principles and be conservative where it gets a bit difficult, then you can't go far wrong and its almost certain to be be an improvement. The modest aero stuff I've done on the S130 all seems to work, at least the car indicates alls well when its getting pushed around a race circuit
  15. When I visited California a long time ago the freeways were breathtaking, not a lot of traffic and they went on forever. Not particularly impressed by the Chev hire car though. Hardly anyone walking, LA looked deceptively deserted where I went.
  16. What TC72 said, alternatively there are ways to improve the S30's crap aero, see the Windtunnel section. Which probably by now needs a name change.
  17. X'over and turbo at the front of the engine FTW. Drivetrain?
  18. Here is the link, fascinating stuff http://autospeed.com/cms/A_2455/article.html?popularArticle
  19. Aussie Rules aka Australian Football League aka gAyFL
  20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1QJ6Ph9OaI Last game of the State of Origin series, Rugby League football, bloke in white is the ref. My State, in maroon, lost this last game/fight but won the series
  21. On track performance, speaking with someone who was around when both the S30 and S130 were fairly new and doing laps in stock form, he said there was no doubt the S130 did better times. This was the 2+2 too, not the lighter two seater which was never a Nissan import into AU. Just because the S130 was more luxurious does not mean it was slower around a circuit or that the luxury converted it to a slower 'touring car', thats a myth. Just look how quick some comparably equipped modern cars are when doing laps, I compete against them every time I go to the circuit. Problem is over the years the S130's got tired and people would not spend money on them. But with the S30 people are, particularly with pinching the L28. Quite simply the S130 is a better engineered car than the fragile S30.
  22. That last corner is 180 degrees, third gear and cautious acceleration out for me
  23. A short one at one of my local circuits
  24. The commentary is OK but why the awful video coverage? Long shots rule apparaently, unless there is a crash there is no up close video usually. I mean looking at a distance at a group of cars running round and round, how boring is that. Sometimes they show cars in a corner, car is moving around a bit, oh that looks interesting, no, they then cut to another shot, usually long. Short attention span? There has to be a lot of skill in driving like they do but the video, rubbish
