Thanks for the input. This is what I'm looking at: http://daytona.craigslist.org/mcy/2233134811.html I was figuring 4 days a week at 50 weeks at best. Prices of $3.30 a gallon and a conservative 60 MPG on the scooter. I think I came up to $1028(?) savings at work the other day.

I'm looking for gas saving advantages with my 21 mile drive one way. If gas goes as high as it's predicted, I just can't see many more options. Anyway, I've got two options for driving to work, all highways (tolls) or all back roads. The back roads trip is not bad to me in my Nissan Frontier truck and it saves $800 a year in toll money! I got used to it real quick! Reading Evil's (Clives) thread on motorcycle advice thread kinda is throwing me off on getting one (safety). I've riden some bikes, Dual sports mainly, and have bought and sold some bikes, but never for real commuting. I really like the Honda Reflex. It's only a 250 but none of the back roads I take are over 45 mph. Any thoughts or advice?

Shipping is what would kill it.

The look pretty decent, no rips or tears, black cloth. Looks to be from a 99. Don't see a speaker holes, but don't want them either. I don't want leather anyways.

What did you guys pay for your seats? Miatas are hard to find in our local Pick and pull, but I found a nice set for $150. Is this a reasonable price?

On the other hand, my buddy had a bone stock 77. He left the stock EFI electronics alone other than running 280zxt injectors and adjusted the AFM. His mods: Stock Turbo Motor / Head Stock J-Pipe Ebay T3/T4 Turbo Exteral WG set to 8PSI 3" Exhaust The car was very quick and I was shocked he never blew it up! He walked my highly moded, carbed car without any problem.

Copy / Paste from this thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/95316-braaps-l6-efi-induction-advice-and-tips/ CAMS and the OE EFI system; The OE EFI will NOT tolerate larger than stock cams, (large enough to make any difference one would spend money and time to swap out), and there is no “reasonable†way around it. If you desire a cam for EFI L28, do yourself a favor and steup to aftermarket Engine management which will allow you to tune around the new VE curve the cam delivers and also delete the AFM from the air stream. The stock Z car EFI isn’t tunable enough to compensate for an altered VE curve. I’m sure someone could hack the resistors and caps in the ECU, but with Mega Squirt being so inexpensive and readily accessible now… The OE EFI will barely tolerate extreme exhaust mods and minor head work, (those two items with the stock cam and stock EFI intake manifold don’t alter the VE curve too much and what they do alter we are able to compensate for with a variety of methods). The OE EFI will not tolerate freer flowing intake manifolds. Both of those alter the VE curve drastically enough that there is no reasonable way to keep the part throttle cruise AND WOT in balance. You will have to sacrifice one for the other and at that, if you spend too much driving around in the compromised region of the tune, the tune could be far enough out to actually foul plugs, which means that when get back into region that is correct for the engine, it wont run right due to fouled spark plugs. In summation, if you have the stock EFI, keep the stock cam and stock intake manifold. If you desire an intake manifold and/or cam change be sure you also have an alternative engine management system that allows the end user to tune and make use of what the cam and intake manifold brings to the table in performance gains. Depends on the color of the smoke. Blue or black? I was thinking fuel as well. Which fuel rail you running?

I really like the car, but I hate the pics! There huge!

Found my own answer by accident. Curiuos if this would help at all with the exhaust smell in our Z's and it's impact on performance. http://www.underhoodservice.com/Article/46503/servicing_solutions_15_tips_on_servicing_ford_f150s.aspx Tip 13: These exhaust tips should not be removed or covered with dress sleeves that will seal off the ports on the sides. See Photo 3. As you can see, the new generation of diesel engines from all makes will have some odd-looking exhaust tips on them. The tips are designed to draw cool air into the tip, by use of venturi action, to cool the exiting gases during filter regeneration. See Photo 4. During filter regeneration mode, the exhaust temperatures are more intense than normal. Without the special tips, the exiting gases become hazardous to the paint on the truck’s body, dry grass that might catch fire or someone’s legs who happens to be standing too close to the tail pipe.

Any ideas on why the 2009 Ford F250 Super Duty Exhaust Tips have those tabs like they do in the tips? Taken from the article: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/trucks/112_0906_2009_ford_f250_super_duty_tow_test/diesel_versus_gas.html "Otherwise, living with a diesel has become remarkably simple. The engine fires up without pausing for glow plugs, and there's zero diesel smell and hardly any diesel noise. The 6.4 is designed to burn biodiesel fuel at mixtures up to B5 without voiding the warranty."

Tony, my question is out of ignorance so be gentle please. With the Z's Air injection is it really "burning" the residual HC up or is it simply diffusing them? I was always under the impression that the Air injection systems were diffusion based to "appear" like the HC were less to meet US emissions standards. If it is burning the HC, this is due to the proximity to where the air is injected and the associated heat from the exhaust correct?

On my sons Bone stock 78 fumes yes. Windows up very little. Now his car is full of rust holes in the back as well.

In a group buy of parts I received 6 440cc injectors. I've never tried them as I'm using RC injectors. $25 for all 6 plus shipping.

Cheap college route... ... and just don't park on any hills.

Thanks for the flashback!

Hmmmm... so now I'm curious who else doesn't like football? I don't watch it either. I had to last night as there was nothing to do when your trapped at the mother-in-laws house and EVERYONE is huge Steelers fan. (Read all my emails, made stupid comments to my sister-in-law, played pool with my son, ate food, my wife’s family drama, etc.) I did get a small laugh over the fact they lost. My brother in law was so upset he turned the TV off with 30 seconds to go. Talk about awkward silence.

Rattle Can / Spray can paint job: Which brand to use

I resemble that comment! Actually, I don't paint much. Kinda scares the crap out of me! -
Direction you want I doubt the motor is froze. I would fix it, get it running and read, read, read and read some more. Search, search and search some more. Once your done witht that and looked as much as you can, come up with some HP goals and the conditions in which you plan to use the HP (Track, Autocross, street) and go from there. Likely, the tranny is fine if its a 4 speed, and the rear end is also fine just frozen brakes. This all being said if the car was just parked and sat. Good luck, there is no best on hybridz, except maybe Tony D!

1978 280z poor acceleration and stutters.
JSM replied to KetchupNinja's topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
Your fuel pressure does sound a little high. If you pull the plugs now, are they black? Also does it run good cold and then crappy once warmed up? If so I would lean towards the temp sensor connection first, then the sensor itself. Take the connector completely off and clean the heck out of it. I would highly recommend and inline fuel pressure guage on the motor so you can read the pressure when a problem occurs. I used this one: http://www.harborfreight.com/fuel-injection-pump-tester-92699.html All you need is the silver peice and the guage and put it inline. -
Wow, you've done a lot! Very nice. Oh to be young again and not have to be responsible . I wish I had the internet in the 80's.

Rattle Can / Spray can paint job: Which brand to use
JSM replied to JSM's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Thanks guys. Leaning towards, flat if I can. Does any company make primer in black? -
Did a search with not much luck. I know it is easier to spray with gun and the associated bennifts, but I don't want too for other reasons. Anyway, curious to what others have used (Brand wise or Company) that held back the rust and is in black?

They should be the same. We stuck a set of 73 pedals into a 77.

Wow, that is a lot of snow. It's strange, I've been in shorts and t-shirt all day. Absolutely beautiful today.
