  1. i found a '93 subaru legacy in good condition for $1000 on craigslist, runs great no problems at 140k mi. but this is more fun for the snow
  2. i helped a good friend of mine install a holset HX35 turbocharger on his 325i Boy those are strong motors. 1-2-3 gears just spins the tires. holds 1 bar of boost with 250k miles on the bottom end.
  3. are you useing the stock fuel pump? if so you might want to upgrade
  4. I bet its the exhaust heat baking the starter. A glowing exhaust header 1" away from your starter. Get a starter blanket 15$ from summitracing.com
  5. yes i did get a good deal on the truck, traded for a dirt bike. lol.. I've tried bleeding the air out of the system many times and different methods The trans is a "goodfellas" enforcer 700r4 I'm just tryin to get the bugs worked out before i pull the motor.
  6. hey guys, i bought a '88 chevy truck that has a '96 lt1 corvette motor , anyway I bought this truck to pull the motor and use in my Z Theres about 750 miles on the motor since it was rebuilt. bigger valves were installed and a grand sport cam making it a LT4? This was a kids project that was never finished.. its about 95% done. I've been driving the truck around breaking in the motor and im having a over heating problem but only when i go uphills and pull grades. Im not sure if the radiator is just too small (2 core) or the transmission fluid running through the radiator is getting hot making the coolant temp rise. when i go uphill or about 220*(measured from the cyl head) the coolant in the reservoir is boiling out the cap vent line.. It might even be the installed height of the reservoir bottle? i know in the corvette the motor is higher than the radiator and coolant bottle/reservoir? Might even be where the coolant reservoir is "TEE'ed into the heater hoses? heres some more pic's of the current setup, all comments welcome
  7. VERY helpful... looks like with automatic rear end with ratio of 3.3 and a 5 speed with .78 5th gear at 5500RPM im looking at 158 mph. then change the trans to T56 with .5 6th gear and im lookin at 234 mph at 5500 RPM... maybe i need a 6 speed or convert to soild axle
  8. Well while visting el mirage dry lake bed in SO CAL last weekend and watchig guys go over 200 mph.. i figured out want i want to do. So my car would fit in the grand touring,Blown class, C engine class 5.7L. The current record at el mirage is 203.xx mph for my class. two weeks from now me and a friend are going to start installing the scta spec roll cage for a 200mph car, parachute(anthing over 175mph), and finish installing the turbocharger with blow thrugh carb setup, EFI is not allowed only mechaincal injection. I recently got a tremec 5 speed from a '02 camaro im going to be useing to test. I figure just getting the car out there and doing 150 will make me happy for now.. but im wondering what stock rear end gears are? if i rember corrcectly manual trans 280z came 3.5? and autos were 3.3? so say i got the 3.3 rear end and im in 5th gear doing max rpm lets say 6k rpm i dobut my top MPH would even be near 200 (if i have the HP) What do yall think? Andy
  9. i bought my car for $950. in about 3 years i dumped $16,000 into it and i just started my turbo install. it never ends
  10. i bought my car for $950. in about 3 years i dumped $16,000 into it and i just started my turbo install. it never ends
  11. What i find crazy is how 1.3 L rotarys run MASSIVE turbos. much larger than t04's but i guess at 8k+ rpm that small motor is flowing ALOT of air.
  12. im getting serious downforce with this spoiler/wing... its pretty radical haha...
  13. man i won a set of those headers on ebay but the seller never sent them then i got refunded thrugh paypal... how much did you pick those up for if you dont mind me asking?
  14. I havnt had time to install my pro hx52 yet, but i think im gonna try rear mount, what do you think of running this setup on a Z chassis?
  15. just do a stock rebuild and one new borg warner S400 ($600) turbo and you'll make 500hp on accident
  16. YEah baby, looks like you got all the hotside turbo related stuff done. What wastegate is that?
  17. some holst maps i found click on image First keep in mind that holsets of the same numerical name can have different wheel sizes. Ive heard h1e's can have 57-63mm wheels. Also when compairing the hx35 to an h1e isnt really that close. The h1e has a closer realation ship to the hx40 and the h1c has a closer relationship with the hx35. Its comparable to the 60-1 or 62-1 line of turbos. Your prob not going to make big..big numbers with one, but its good on a mild setup. The hx50 will flow 92.5 lb/min approx 925 HP
  18. Im faced with the same problem im about to start installing my hx52 and it has a 4" downpipe... where am i going to fit this pipe?? only thing i can think of is tunneling thrugh the passenger side firewall to get under the car....anyone else running 4" exhaust? any ideas?
  19. hx35's., me and a friend just installed one on his Bmw '91 325i starts spooling at 2900 rpm or so, works great, the wheels on HY are smaller i believe , how much power are you trying to make? i think two hx35's would get you to 800hp or so
  20. ah i checked that, the're completly diffrent (hx35) 2.75" downpipe where mine is (hx52) 4" and mines vband, hx35 has a diffrent style with bolts and a locking ring...ill keep lookin possibly standard hx50 will work
