  1. Well after doing more digging and googleing I found that a stock LS2 cam will not work in a 5.3 with out some big changes at that it will cost more to get running on the car then buying a good after market or compatible stock LS cam .... I hate wasting money BTW I now have a stock LS2 cam for sale with only 45k on it.
  2. Been driving the Z around some and enjoying it. and taking pics and vids I hate that this motor is coming to a end. But for every end there is a new beginning. my newly aquaried 5.3 LM7 out of a 04 Yukon with only 95K on the clock and I snapped up a LS2 cam for a great price to go in it. Now for picking up even for parts and to get this thing ready to go in.
  3. Not going super hot on the cam, thinking of doing a stock GM LS1 or 3 cam.
  4. After 25 years of loyal service my SBC 350 is coming out, and replacing it will be a beautiful 5.3LS out of a 04 Yukon with 95K on the clock. The plans are simple for this build cam,and intake springs and rockers if needed other than that just the stuff it will take to fit and get running right. Have not made a choice on a trans yet would love a 6 speed but the T56 is out of my price range for now but who know buy the thing I get it done. I will keep you guy updated with my progress even though it will be at a snails pace. I am so pumped. Old Sbc new 5.3
  5. Had to take the Z to the tag office to take care of a vin issue, and saw a cool place to grad some pics, then had a Nissan meet that flopped so popped a pic with the only other Z that showed up with 17" slots ?!?!?! also snapped a pick with its new brother. The knock is still there but its not bad so im going to drive it gentle to meets and what not till I can sell some things and get the new engine on the way.
  6. running good after fixing the spark plugs and removing the boost controller.
  7. Well its spring now and the weather as cleared up other than the occasional tornado. I have been spending some time on the 260Z trying to get is sorted out. The car has never run right did not have power like it should, so I have need going through and trying different things and got my boost gauge installed along with my water temp. I had a brake through yesterday I am a dumb dumb and did not check the plug wire order when I changed the plugs and wires I just put then were they came from even though I know better. I also found a boost controller tucked in the engine bay that was rusted and bad a dirt dobber nest on it. So I removed it and and just went off waste gate control and corrected the plug wires and WOW the car now makes 6psi , much better than the 2 it was making before. Its running strong not still needs some fine tuning and is a touch boggy at low rmp and stumbles some times but its no much better.I have also got the car off the ground for the first time and got to take a good look under it and low and be hold it has a R200 swapped in it already. but I did have a bad fuel leak and found some good rust behind the driver seat but nothing that cant be fixed. im so excited now to get the car even better its running so good I need to fix the brakes now..... so that is next! the good the not so good running not good .. very slow only 1psi
  8. Its time for some changes in my Z due to a knock in the bottom end. I have made the decisions to go the LS route with a manual trans. and i am doing research and getting all my ducks in a row start spending money. I have see sights were people are putting a 350Z/370Z CD009 trans behind there LS. I did some digging and found that a adapter plat is made by Collins performance technologies . The 350z has a great shifting trans and is much cheaper then a T56 and can take abuse, but I have never seen this combo in a S30 if you have even seen this please let me know of if you can think of any pluses or minuses to this idea chime in please! Thanks Will S. cd009 with adapter CD009 CD009 CD009 T56
  9. Following this, just lunched the sbc in my its LS time and this looks like it will give some good info keep up the clean work.
  10. Over the winter I decided to install a new intake and carb combo due to a bogging issue, parts : Summit Racing Street & Strip® Stage 1 Intake Manifold : Holley classic 750 cfm : ARP intake bolts : Mr gasket intake gaskets : Permatex High Tack Gasket sealant : Permatex ultra black silicone After finishing the install and after the engine had warmed up a chirp developed from the engine, I started looking for the normal things that cause chirps and could not find anything but the noise sounded like it was coming form low in the bay, https://youtu.be/1Q7Ieirmzz4 So I did a oil change and rechecked all things i could think of and the noise had vanished... then the car got to operating temp. https://youtu.be/GZ0GLKGii_c I am very sad to say that after 25 years of loyal v8 power the engine has now developed a bad bottom end knock. And it will be sitting till I get to pull the engine, and seeing that I live in a apartment complex my garage is no big enough for the job. I don't know what is going to happen engine wise. Many great options only time will tell. But none the less I will keep you guys up to date on now what will be a big change in my car i will now get a change to fix many small thing that have bugged me for along time. This will be FUN!!
  11. Thanks for all the info guy. I am very sad to say that after 25 years of loyal v8 power the engine has now developed a bad bottom end knock. 12. Got started on the new intake and carb, just a quick update will give final results when i get it all buttoned up. parts : Summit Racing Street & Strip® Stage 1 Intake Manifold : Holley classic 750 cfm : ARP intake bolts : Mr gasket intake gaskets : Permatex High Tack Gasket sealant : Permatex ultra black silicone
  13. Got all my parts in! Now I get need to get the car running properly, It dose not want to crank all the time even with a new battery you can hear the bindix in gauge but will not turn over. I have changed the plugs and wires out now to a new set of Taylor's and NGK's and am trying to track down vac and boost leaks, I found the turbo intake tube to be barely on and had a plug in it missing. so I pulled the maf and cleaned it and put it all back on and attached the hose that had fallen off and now it runs worse. I also cleaned all the electrical connections, and am still having very little luck getting it running good. The l28et is a picky one but I will get it sorted if the weather ever gives me a break.
  14. Just placed a order for a new intake it's a Summit Racing Street & Strip® Stage 1 Intake Manifolds SUM-226012, and I have a Holley 670 with vacuum secondaries I'm going to put on. For now the whole motor will be getting pulled next year and rebuilt it's been in there for 25 years and needs some love I have a new set of aluminum head 202/160 valve and 6/1 roller rockers it will be getting with a. New exhaust system, I just want it running good for this race season! I have never ran it at the drags and plan on taking it out a few times this year. I don't know how it will do it only made 222hp and 314 trq to the wheels when I Dynoed it this fall so we will see. Thanks for all the help and I will let ever one know how it comes out. Thanks Will S.
  15. I have tried all settings per the edlebrock tuning guide with no luck. The coil is working very well and is very strong.
  16. It is a single plane and I have never liked it on the car I was running it with a Holley 650 dp for a while before I got the edlebrock but it started having flooding issues so I stuck the Brock on. Yes I am checking timing with it disconnected and plugged. I am fairly sure but it can't hurt to check aging.
  17. Well the fule cut under hard turning and braking now makes much sence. I had a heck of a problem with it at the auto cross last year. I ended up turning my idle way up to try to fix it as a stop gap at the track I did not work 100% but helped a touch. Well time to see if I can find a Holley and test a carb change out. Thanks Miles
  18. I have adjusted the floats per edlebrocks tuning guide and been through the whole carb and checked it and set it all per the edlebrock tuning guide from there web page. As far as fuel pressure I have never checked it I am running a mechanical fuel pump so what ever stock is I would assume. The distributor is vac advance and pulls 30 ish deg at 2200 rpm and initial adv is set @ 14 deg.
  19. Hello, I am hiving a issue that I have been trying to fix for some time now, from a stop in hard acceleration my car bogs very bad. I have messed with timing and checked for vacuum leaks and cant find anything so I decided to turn to the most trusted people on the internet you guys. 20. It is not bad, some rust the frame rails are solid as rock only one very small rust through spot on the passenger floor board, only bad rust spot is on the driver inner fender well close to were the frame rail connects. So 7/10 I would say. I will snap some pics this weekend.
