  1. SEM is a brand of higher quality paint products/chemicals. The only place I've found SEM products is at a local automotive paint supply house. If you clean/scuff the parts properly, you shouldn't need to prime to get the trim color to adhere well. I'm going to be doing this on some trim pieces on my 300ZX this week too.
  2. For what you describe, the stock disc/drum setup will handle your needs just fine. Just keep things well maintained and use good quality pads/shoes and you are good to go. As stated above: If you do go road racing on a regular basis, you may want to upgrade. But, even then, there are guys using the stock setup with high quality components that are doing just fine. I went with the big brake upgrade on my 240Z/Velo Rossa because I plan to auto-cross for fun. I had a '76 280 with a V8 conversion and stock brakes that I drove pretty hard on the back roads regularly and didn't have any problems.
  3. From the Arizona Z Car site: Looks like there will still be a minimum...
  4. Waaayyyy good deal! I was at an auto swap meet all weekend and I must have seen a half-dozen or more complete LT1/LS1 & T56 combos with harnesses. There were private parties and wrecking yards represented and the prices were between $2,600 to $3,500.
  5. Ah well, my bad. I don't watch Leno and if I'm not watching the big 'ol internet daily, stuff gets by me...

    Lookin' Good!

I agree. This latest version is MUCH easier on the eyes. I like it. Just add the new logo above the menu bar and it's perfect.
  7. What an idiot. Anybody wanna buy a Jetta? Slightly used, just needs some body work...
  8. My bad. I was using 'My Account' to attempt to change the settings for my forum sig. The Forum->Profile solution does the trick. Thanks Dan.
  9. How do we update signatures and avatars now? Changing these items in my personal information doesn't seem to take effect. I've moved my personal website and now my avatar doesn't work and my signature isn't accurate.
  10. The current list: 1999 Eddie Bauer Expedition 1998 Nissan Maxima SE 1994 Ford Ranger XL 1971 240Z morping into a Velo Rossa Shopping for a good condition 240Z to make my daily driver...
  11. I used 3M Rubberized undercoating on my car after completely removing all paint/rust and applying several coats of POR-15. At the very least, you are going to have to do a pretty thorough cleaning of the underside of the car to get good adhesion before appling any kind of sealer. In any case, the 3M stuff cured to a pretty smooth, non-porous coat. It'll probably do a fair job of sealing things up. You might consider applying a quality body seam sealer over the poor welds before you undercoat.
  12. Well, Dave is the correct fist name (Sorry, Dave I don't remember your last name). I think this is the Dave you're looking for: http://www.linfoot.net/ He has LSD braces.
  13. Well, I've already stated that I'm an interested buyer (I'm definitely going buy another 240 before May), but after following the saga of everything you've gone through, I have to agree that you should hang on to it after all of the blood, sweat, tears and frustration. Man, you are so close to having that puppy dialed-in. You've put too much into it to walk away now. I know I'd have a hard time selling. ...and the timing of the tax return is perfect. Now, having said that, I'm still interested if you make up your mind to cut it loose...
  14. I know that Nate (Nezzie76) and Larry are still conversing on a fairly regular basis. I just talked to Nate last weekend. It sounds like Larry is really being treated pretty harshly. He's not a happy man. I'm not sure when he was scheduled for release, but I think he does have another year to endure.
  15. Like Thure said, There is a huge aftermarket for the beetles. Tons and tons of relatively cheap performance upgrades. It's pretty easy to build a sleeper bug. Not my bag, but I know some guys who have swapped Porche powerplants into some pretty impressive rides. The Caddywagen could only be built by a drunken Wazzu student! I should know. Go Cougs!

Yeah, I know that story. It happened here in Oregon. I saw the video a few years ago. Some brainiac decided a fair amount of dynamite would 'disintegrate' the beached whale and they would clean up the pieces. In practice they blew blubber several hundred yards, dented up some cars pretty badly and still had several tons of intact whale to figure out what to do with. Here's the video: http://www.komotv.com/news/qtmovie.asp?ID=28338 Here's a website with a Dave Barry column recounting the story: http://www.hackstadt.com/features/whale/
  17. I'd be willing to contibute some thrilling video clips of my VR on jackstands! It features me sitting on a milk crate behind the non-existant dash making motor noises. The background music is Golden Earring's Radar Love... "I've been driving all night, my hands wet on the wheel..."
  18. Here's a place to start: http://www.datsunzparts.com/start.htm I think that MSA also carries replacement pans, but I'm not sure. Many of us just bought sheet steel and fabbed our own.
  19. RTFM = Read The F...ing Manual !!! Aux should have told him/her to select the Chinese language... Sounds like an I/O error. (Idiot Operator error)
  20. The 76104 stops look exactly like what I got in my kit. I guess my memory regarding the length was off, though. In any case, they fit fine with my Tokicos and coilover setup.
  21. My Tokicos didn't come with bumpstops and there were no stops on my old suspension. I got new ones in my Hyperflex master kit. They are ~ 2.5 to 3" in length. I haven't road tested so, I don't know if they need to be cut-down.
  22. Cool! I'd love to check it out. Keep us posted if/when it gets published and whether we can get our hands on it here in the states.
  23. WTF? Looks like someone launched their German Shepard into a utility pole. PWNED?
