  1. It's been too cold to do much since my last update, but I finally got the suspension swap completed and the brakes bled on the 76. The 78 is waiting for me to pull the engine and transmission and to strip the rest of the parts I want. Paul came over today and helped me finish bleeding the brakes on the 76 and to help turn it around in my driveway. I want the front end at my garage entrance for when I pull the motor in the next couple of weeks (hopefully). So, here's how the car sits on the swapped suspension. It looks much better at this ride height. The turbo wheels are temporary. I also took some things off the motor, but didn't get pictures on that. Not the missing center cap... It didn't see eye-to-eye with my floor jack. Bummer. I've decided on gunmetal gray for when I get the 76 repainted. It needs a lot of body work, but not really any more than my 260z that got painted several months back. Still have a lot to do before body work starts.
  2. Good list. You beat me to it on mentioning Josh Homme's latest with Dave Grohl and JPJ: Them Crooked Vultures. Great stuff... This thread needs slide bass: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YT2T102kW94
  3. My ex loved my silver 240 and actually helped out some when I was putting it back together after paint paint in 2003. She could polish the hell out of wheels but got really upset that I didn't let her work on things like wiring. She thought I didn't trust her, but it wasn't that at all. It just boiled down to me doing things a certain way that she didn't really understand. I tried to keep her involved, but before I completed the reassembly it turned into this big ordeal about me loving the car more than her, which is absolutely the truth. My current girlfriend cares nothing about my car obsession, but likes that I can fix her's when needed.
  4. That sucks. An engine-builder front once told me to never use those aluminum plugs. I thought it would take much longer for them to deteriorate... Definitely good to get the word out on this.
  5. Actually, a few more pics in the beginning this album, from when my 260 was owned by the same guy as the blue and silver car: http://picasaweb.google.com/nullproject/1974Datsun260Z# I forgot my car had that one on when I got it. These pics show it with turn signals, but still no bumper. I think it looks better with a bumper, as with the cool blue car in your first post here. My friend likes to use that spoiler because it's not too far from a stock look.
  6. I have a friend who uses that one. Some pics of his car here, though he's not using turn signals: http://picasaweb.google.com/nullproject/1971Datsun240ZWithChevyV8# It's a little flimsy in the middle, so he used some aluminum pieces to keep it in place. I think that's visible in a few of the pics.
  7. That's fine as long as you have a return line. Otherwise go with their $25 regulator that's usually available behind the counter at advance/autozone. I completely agree that holley's are pig rich out of the box. Went down a few jet sizes front and rear on both of my 750's. Do you know if the previous owner did anything to the carb? Can you describe more on how it runs under 2k rpms? Does it idle ok? Does it have a good inline fuel filter?
  8. Welcome back! I remember you and your car. Good luck getting it back on the street.
  9. Here's one with side skirts and betamotorsports hood:
  10. I personally wouldn't use the door seals. Everything else in the kit is pretty good. I have heard of someone breaking door glass from trying to slam the doors with these door seals. Also, be sure to wipe some silicone spray on your seals so that they don't stick to your doors/hatch/etc if the car sits for some time.
  11. Most people don't use the door seals from the weatherstripping kit for that very reason: They're too thick. Check the 'new weatherstrip alternative' thread for door seal candidates. I like the mcmaster carr weatherstripping for the doors.
