  1. Too bad I can't get in there to see it in person anymore It looks great and I'm glad you used the muffler. I hope it sounds good. Gonna run the pipes out the side eventually?
  2. I'll be forthcomingly honest... I considered it
  3. For the first several posts, I thought you meant something like a dinner plate with a Datsun or Z symbol and the word "TUNED Z." Man... I that was weird you wanted one in the first place, but then to fret for 18yrs about what to get on it.
  4. Every once in awhile I think about selling everything and getting back into a Z31. I like this guy below, but I've seen images of the Japanese Z31's, the 200ZR, which I LOVED. They did some awesome, awesome things to those cars. Really hard to find pictures of them now. Great vid of this same car: http://mark86t.zmobiledetailing.com/gallery/v/Racing/WickedZ31Video.wmv.html
  5. Ha! I will take that to assume I was right, but it had already been discussed... and I missed it.
  6. Very cool. Curious... by "doing the same thing (Supra engine swaps)," do you mean that's all you do? Or do you mean that's all everyone else does? If it's the latter, I hope you're kidding, because V8 swaps have been done to death!
  7. Read his post again - they BOTH use CAST pistons. Also, you'll find going turbo with a GE motor won't be much cheaper, if at all, versus just using the GTE engine. One big reason is the GE intake manifold won't fit under your stock hood so you'll have to do something with that. Custom GE intakes run from $1000-$2500. Streetfighter built his own. Also, you're guaranteed to have to get a custom header to mount a turbo and all the costs associated with the plumbing. You'll also have to use the distributor from the GE or figure out what you wanna do about bypassing it. I think all this info can be found in other threads here in the Toyota L6 forum.
  8. Yay! You recirculated the waste gate. I have lots of good ideas, including the super huge, heavy, quiet muffler. For the record, to all you HybridZers, I may be the first passenger in that beast... or at least the second.
  9. $3500 used and $6500 new. I saw Boost Logic install a brand new Getrag into a Supra shipped over from Panama and, apparently, even Boost Logic paid that much for a new one. It was actually this guy's friend - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-piEjJMOEDs . The guy in the Supra owns the Lamborghini and the Supra (built by Boost Logic) and wanted to race them against each other, hence, this video. That joke is so 90's. For example, Boost Logic's "street car" with a 6-speed ran 8's in the 1/4 recently and, only a few weeks ago, broke the world record for fast standing mile for a street car - 229.7mph.
  10. $10k is very little to buy an RB26 and install it then have an amazing car ontop that. In other words, you'd have not nearly enough money for good suspension, brakes, paint, wheels/tires, interior, etc. If you'd said you had at least $20k to work with, then it'd be a little more doable. I may be missing something, but it seems very strange that the price for the install with the 5spd RWD tranny is more expensive. You can get a tranny from a Z32 and bolt it right up, last I checked, and that's only $500. But then you gotta modify the oil pan anyway. That shop you've referenced is charging $6k for labor alone, right?
  11. ah... what was I thinking. I should have noticed it was a turbo designation. FYI - the Magnaflow I have is unpolished stainless steel. They have polished versions and they're not terribly expensive. Something of note: Boost Logic (Austin, TX Supra tuner) sells a downpipe called the "Bumble Bee." It starts at 5", I think then over a length of about 12" it narrows to 4" - it looks like a swollen downpipe from a bee sting. So, what you could draw from this is that perhaps having your entire exhaust at 4" isn't tantamount, but at least having the first foot or two at 4". If I get the motor in I'm planning on, I may just run the Magnaflow I have now and it will be easier to fit two 3" pipes (one on either side of the differential than running a single 4". Though, if the look you need is important, then... Also, I plan to run a muffler in the middle of the car, not at the back.
  12. Just take a look around Jegs or Summit Racing's site. Dynomax UltraFlo is my muffler of choice - super cheap and decent quality. What does the transmission you're running have to do with your muffler choice? I have a new Magnaflow 4"-to-dual-3" you could buy for $135 shipped.
  13. Aren't those called the "Western" wheels? I think Zeeboost has a set on one of this Z's
  14. Found longer vid with different description. "Apparently what happened was that someone sent him the wrong lug nuts with the wrong threading. They seemed tight until they fell off! Happened on june 10, 2007 dixie autocross"
  15. Awesome. It looked like the body of the car bent, too. Notice the zoomed in shot?
  16. Geez... the worst I ever did was bounce a tennis ball into the street to hit the front of a single car driving down the street.
  17. If Nissan released a new 240Z with the same thought as this car (using many of the already-mentioned changes) and at a $20k price-point to compete with Miata, S2000, Solstice, etc, they would rock my face off.
  18. Isn't there a "Parts for Sale" section here?
  19. That's just bling... that's all. Just bling.
