BRAAP, this isn't your first time to see these, is it? This has been floating around the internet for at least the past 5yrs. There are Vin Diesel and Mr. T lists also. Mr. T "pitties" everyone.

I was just about to ask the same thing. Doesn't "I'm feeling lucky" just return what would be the first hit in a regular search? Still very funny.

Lance, I'm a little late on this, but since I rarely see you and only just met your woman a week ago, I thought I'd add a little to the heap. Some of these guys are morons (yep!) the way they discount a quality relationship with someone, even if it is ONLY a girlfriend. I had no idea you two had been together for so long. I just married my wife 3 months ago (Dec. 15). She's been incredible about wanting me to keep my motorcycle (I'm still jacked up from my Sept. 12th crash...stupid BMW's pulling in front of me) AND wanting me to keep my Merkur and the 280Z. She knows I really like each of these vehicles; but I think what helps most is genuinely being willing to get rid of those things for her, which I've suggested a couple times. She sees that and probably appreciates it more than she realizes. We just found out we're 11 weeks pregnant and I've again told her I should probably sell the Merkur and the motorcycle but she disagrees. We'll see. Looks like I'll definitely be keeping the Z project going, though. Get yourself to a place like that. Start with getting rid of the 2 Z's you're looking to sell as quickly as possible (you pretty much never get the money back for what you invest in a car - shoulda sold them as they were). And then widdle down which two of the other three you should be keeping - the funky-green 240Z had better be one of them. Be sure you continue to communicate a desire to have a good balance between her and your cars (which may weigh heavily towards her) and try to plan fairly fixed times/days you will work on the cars or spend time with her. I need to go weld or something... it's too mushy in here! On a side note, my wife's helping hands have been the only way I can work on the Z right now, pretty much, as my left hand is nearly useless right now. She's never worked on cars before but she's very mechanically inclined somehow and she's found she really enjoys taking stuff apart. Plus, amazingly, she's able to have long nails and not break them working on it. It's the super hotness! She did just trim one hand's nails so she can play bass and guitar again I think we should double-date or some crap sometime!

If I smoked my tail-lights, I'd get some bright LED bulbs. Do they even make any that disperse light correctly like incandescents?

Yep, they're ugly motors alright; but they're pretty stout. Very strong bottom ends and make gobs of low-end torque for being 4-bangers. My XR4Ti is all stock right now and will remain mostly stock except for the 3" exhaust already on and the LA3 computer (from TurboCoupe) and an intercooler. You can pretty it up using parts from http://www.40bob.com or http://www.stinger-performance.com/ or ebay. You should totally rotate your intake 90° for performance (less heat on intake and shorter pipes), aesthetics, and ease of working on it. I forget if you mentioned planning to do this. I'd considered this swap before but when I saw you doing it and realized how tall the motor is, I changed my mind. I'm anxious to know how it works out, though. One other thing, if I were to put a V6, V8, or I4 in my Z, I would move the radiator closer to the engine and make some ducting. Moving the weight back would be great, you'll have shorter hoses, and you could easily set up ducting for cold air to your air filter without having to cut anything.

Snowflakes... I miss mine

Why Bother With The Lsx Swaps....
ShaggyZ replied to EvilC's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Though I likely won't be going V8, thanks for the encouragement. You rock. -
I don't think I've ever removed a head while at TDC and, yes, I've put them all back on without trouble. It's pretty easy.
-
Dude, that's cheap enough to try out... unless it somehow destroys whatever motor it may be applied to!
-
It'd be even faster if he took the battery off the passenger floorboard. I'd like to see pictures of the VIN and production month/year.

Deep Dish Swastikas?
ShaggyZ replied to rich280zxt's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I last heard they are a two-piece, spun wheel. Weird. -
Hmm... maybe you should use some RTV black silicone instead of JB Weld based on these guys' warnings.
-
I'd go to steel. Aluminum isn't worth the hassle, in my opinion. However, if you really wanna use it, just make sure you rough up the aluminum before applying the JB weld. I'm sure it will be fine.
-
Hmmm... you got me thinking about a VG30ET swap into my Z. Have you taken the engine and tranny out yet?
-
Right. That's why I called it the mid/rear sump. Oh well, turns out a friend of mine works for a company I probably shouldn't mention and he'll trade me straight up for a mid/rear sump setup if I end up with a front sumped engine.
-
Thanks, but a front sump 2JZ will NOT work on any L-series Z. So if indeed Supra 2JZ's are the only mid/rear sump setups, then that is what I need; and if this is the case, I suppose I should contact the sellers and ask what it is exactly they're selling.
-
I've looked through several of the 2JZ threads and the links to 2JZ specific sites. All information points to the JDM Supra as being the only mid-sump 2JZ-GTE. However, all of the pictures on ebay ads of supposed JDM Supra engines show a definite front-sump (versus middle or rear). Are these just stock photos essentially? Are they lying?

Someone already asked. It got shredded in the crash.
-
There are a number of other great parts on the car, including the engine which, though it was close, appears unscathed in spite of this much-worse-than-pictures-reveal accident. I snagged the differential and half-shafts and am $500 poorer though $1000 happier... or something. Youngblood seems to be a good, trustworthy guy (minus the DUI ), so I think you'd be safe buying from him over the net... and I know where he lives now so if he screws you... you know <-- whatever that means.

Two boost gauges?
-
I'm in Austin and I PM'd you. I really hope you and any passenger you may have had with you are okay. Yikes! I'd be interested in coming to see the carnage some time this week. Not that it matters now, but I came back into this thread and saw you asked why I said the gage install was "dirty." I just thought they should be mounted in the factory location. But I guess it is significantly easier to do a plate that way... and to be honest, I'd probably do that, too I hope you're able to stay in Z land!
-
Your oil pressure is fine. Your idle seems a bit low. I considered selling my XR4Ti to get another Z31T... that one, in particular, but obviously I didn't. There's another on Craigslist now for $3000 which I still think is a good deal. By the way, that's a dirty install of those two gages. Either use the stock gages or pull your aftermarkets and put them in proper, son!

Well I got my 17x10 and 17x9 wheels
ShaggyZ replied to 1 fast z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
4 lug, but wrong pattern, unfortunately.... they'd almost fit my Merkur.... hmm... I'm looking some new wheels for it anyway.
