  1. Very nice, indeedy. Lots of money and hard work put into that car. Vid was long but worth the wait for the end
  2. Great write-up. Should be in the member's projects forum. I think it's hilarious that you got the mormons to help you out. I'm assuming you're not friends with them but just got their help - I totally need to do that!
  3. You probably can't make it strong enough. That has always been my problem with wheel adaptors, even those only up to 2" thick. I'm even hesitant to run wheel spacers.
  4. Clifton and a couple other guys have the R154 and I've seen no mention of issues with the Datsun clutch MC.
  5. I've always wondered what these would sound like on a real turbocharged vehicle.
  6. Ouch... that's an expensive prospect (time for you, actually). Sorry to hear that. You just have an excuse to make it a little better now. I'd sure be thankful it didn't happen so far away from home.
  7. We should be able to delete... but I guess I understand why.
  8. If you mean most people opt for automatics over a manual, that's merely for drag racing purposes... and because they suck at shifting They also go with automatics to keep the engine in it's power band... where it is making loads of power up high. I believe a manual is better for everything except drag racing.
  9. Is that a question? Or did you realize you shouldn't have posted this and edited your post?
  10. Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was attacking you - I come on a little hard, fast, and exacting sometimes.
  11. If someone sees the key, they break into your car. How hard would it be to hotwire your car just by bypassing your keypad? It'll probably be even easier to get to the wires, too. Granted, a potential thief would be thrown off and not know what to look for so that's probably good enough.
  12. Nice. I'd find it quite easy to flip that for a $2k profit. Lose the hunch back and funny wheels and it'd look great.
  13. Seems good and I would tend to agree even prior to your testing, but this is not scientific proof at all. That aluminum piping may be contributing to a greater difference than you realize.
  14. FYI - all engines are blueprinted. That means nothing special for these guys unless you mean something else by that.
  15. The price is high, but a... what, 500+HP engine with reliability, drivability, and a warranty for that much isn't all that bad. I could never spend that, though.
  16. Very true. Actually, the R154 I have now I basically got for free plus $150; plus, it came with a new stock clutch, shifter and driveshaft. Previously, I was looking at spending ~$700 for an ebay R154 with the way they sell there. I'd say I'm off to a good start on my budget build
  17. Technically, he is a professional
  18. It's not the L-series. I'm kinda keeping the project quiet until I totally commit to going with this engine. Thanks a lot for the input.
  19. Right. I meant hard to find used. You can buy them new for under $400.
  20. I have a need to move an exhaust manifold out a little bit and would like some input on using a 1/2" steel (or stainless) flange. I intend to have a sandwich arrangement of two exhaust manifold gaskets :: manifold -> gasket -> flange -> gasket -> head. Obviously, I'd need ~1/2" longer bolts/studs; but I'm curious about the different heat characteristics between the flange's steel and the cast iron manifold. I'm thinking as long as the manifold is torqued correctly, I shouldn't have any issues with warpage/leaking in the near future, but possibly eventually. (This probably should belong in the exhaust forum, but it doesn't get visited much; also, this is fabrication )
  21. Are we assuming the 350Z suspension is going into a S30? I think that's what we call a fragment sentence. wsalguero99, please try again.
  22. Yes, but look around and you'll find some info on this. The short: R154 requires hard-to-find bellhousing; W58 is easy.
