Sawdust "fixes" nothing. It mixes with gear oil and that sticks to the housing of the rear axle or manual tranny and creates a sound barrier to muffle the whine. It also chews up in the teeth and adds a cushion to fill slack. My dad bought and sold heavy equipment for years and learned the trick from his father many years ago at the old auto auctions. They used to use banana peels also. I've patched a few radiators with black pepper on old farm trucks and even once on a dirt track car that was leaking at a seam. And if you have a rod knock and want to get rid of the car, 80w gear oil and 50w mixed half and half will muffle it and get the oil pressure up too. Just make sure engine is warm when they hear it because it may knock on initial start up. I had a Dodge shadow 3 yrs ago that tossed a head gasket on me and I really needed something to trade in so I torqued down the head bolts, changed oil, loaded it up first with copper stopleak, blocked both radiator hoses with freeze plugs shoved in the them drilled with 2 , 1/8 inch holes and trailered it 3 blocks from the Hyundai dealer. They allowed me $1800 for the car. He even took it around the block! As far as the exploding paint booth, it is the spark from a light source or fan in the booth that "can" cause it. More so likely with older paints that had more flammable contents but it is still possible. Just not as probable.

As long as the products and reducers match the weather your painting in heat isnt an issue. I personally suggest ( having been a painter/bodyman) is that you shoot for 70-85 degrees and low humidity. I never had the luxury of a "baking booth" so dry time was slower which allows more flow-out if you use the right reducers... Also allows more surface trash so make sure your area is closed off well from traffic as it stirs dust and you have to resist the urge to keep going in and out to admire the job..LOL ! Also make sure you cut off all lights immediately!! after your done so you dont end up with "critters" in the paint. I had a gypsy moth about the size of a freaking small bat flop around on a hood and roof one night and ruin a customer job!!

Those homemade plastic sheet booths can get it done as long as you make sure you have the inside clean as possible. And once you've used it you have overspray stuck on the plastic that will come off and ruin other jobs so dont plan on using it more than once or twice without replacing the plastic. Be careful of fume buildup too because the lighting your using isnt rated for that kind of use and a spark during spray can blow you out of the booth and burn you good without good airflow!

4.3 s10 and 4.0 Rangers pull good, and you'll have money left over with 8k to spend. Fuel mileage is decent if you drive it responsibly. Toyo and Niss will last longer but cost much more even used.

I understand the whole reliability/fuel economy issue. I went out 2 yrs ago and decided I needed something cheap but new for a daily driver so I bought a Hyundai Accent, I did spring for the GT..LOL it is a 2dr with a wing, little ground effects package and alloy wheels from the factory, drives surprisingly well and is pretty peppy. At $212 a month and a 100k warranty with 32mpg I can't complain. I've had no problems with it at all.

I don't know anything about their reliability but I see your judgement as sound. You can always grab one of those little $400 4x8 utility trailers if you need to keep something handy to haul wood, mowers, and such.

I love the classic look of the draglites for sure. Then you can pick up a used set of 3.5x15 and stick some 165/15 tires on them for raceday fronts....

Just my opinion neighbor ( I live in Washington NC) I don't think you'll get there with Vortec heads. They are a great budget head but to run those numbers it wil take more flow than they can produce in my opinion. Spend the money on a good set of heads like AR's and you'll be headed in the right direction. I also question running alot of boost or nitrous on Hypereutectic pistons as I hear the shatter from swelling under extreme pressure. I love a 406, great torque monster for a budget..... but it takes some horses to run that fast too....
