  1. Current status is go... we could probably work something out with paypal if that is easier. A direct wire would probably be cheaper in the end though. Zya, please email me with the info on what you want.
  2. Granted Bowling for Columbine must be taken with a grain of salt (which I realized when I watched it) but I do have a question for you Americans... How is it that Canada has as many or more guns per person, and we have significantly less shooting deaths/crimes per person? (by about a factor of 100... I'm talking PER PERSON here, so population doesn't really count in this sense) This isn't intended to be sarcastic in any way, I am just curious to hear others thoughts on this... I have my own ideas too but would like to hear others.
  3. Pbooty I am quite interested in seeing how it turns out... I've played with surfaces a bit in Solidworks and its not the best. The Surfaceworks plug-in can be quite nice for a project like this... Anyway, please email or post your results as you are going along. FSAE car in SolidWorks, body contours were done using SolidEdge.
  4. You've got to be kidding, half our club has a set of these for their 510's and/or Z.
  5. Buy some spacers... You need them. http://www.modern-motorsports.com
  6. I liked Cash's better too... and I liked the NIN version!
  7. I'm only $7,060,000 short!
  8. Pro/E (Pro Engineer) isn't for the inexperienced... I've used it quite a lot and it's not-so-intuative to learn. If you are looking for something more flexable than WM I'd look for Solidworks with the dynamic designer plug-in, but again it's way more program than you need for this type of thing. Working Model is the way to go I think.
  9. Working model and/or working model 3D is the software you are looking for... Lets you design mechanisms: cams, linkages, spring & damper systems, etc., apply forces and accelerations and outputs whatever data you require. They are both fairly user friendly too. (well, if you are an egghead I suppose)
  10. Take a look here again: http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=30252
  11. Or maybe blue.... Eeek, that's the colour of my car! (soon anyway)
  12. Looking good! What kind of coating do you have on your exhaust manifold? How well does it hold up?
  13. There is no way I'd paint a car that wild silver... silver is THE sleeper colour... go wild man! The copper looks great.
  14. Well no... I mean when TIG'ing it really isn't necessary as it's very controlled. All my ARC work was done with full cotton clothing, it was never really an option because of the job I had at the time required me to quite often up and leave what I was in the middle of to help out somewhere else. (I was on an understaffed maintenance crew for quite a large chemical smelter plant) Everytime I left the welding shop for the plant I had to change coveralls to a polyester pair due to the acids... Pain in the ass with even more clothing on. MIG, well again quite controlled though I occasionally find myself underneath what I'm welding and at that point you hope it hits your helmet and bounces to the floor... I guess I'm pretty conscious about where my body is in relation to the hazard... grinding though, well I had no choice in this particular case and that's how it all started. Besides, I'm not a welder! I'm an engineer dammit. (reminder to self) I should be worrying about pocket protecters, slide rules, things that work in theory, and certainly not this type of stuff.
  15. FYI, I have some calipers from a 93+ toyota pickup, they are stamped S13 or S13W I can't recall. I mocked them up on a strut and they seem to be the same offset/bolt pattern as the earlier ones, but they are a bit nicer design IMHO.
  16. I'm using the supra turbo 440cc/min injectors and all they require is a custom fuel rail, no mods to the intake. The one caveat is that you need the Toyota-style injector clips, the standard square bosch style ones will not work.
  17. The worst part is I have been welding semi-professionally for about 6 or 7 years... I'm not very accident prone at all, I typically avoid such risks like in this case, I just got complacent even though I knew better. No harm to me at all in the whole experience, lost 2 jackets and put a hole in a T-shirt but not even a singed hair on me. Go figure... I did have a nice incident about 6 years ago while I was TIG'ing up a SS heat exchanger. It was the middle of summer, so I wore my cotton coveralls without a shirt on underneath to try to make it bearable. I spent my entire 12 hour shift welding this heat exchanger, when I took the coveralls off at the end of the day I had a zipper patterned sunburn up the center of my chest. Heh, one of those things that you just have to laugh at yourself for.
  18. Yeah yeah. I've been wearing fleece while welding/grinding for years now, all the time knowing full well what a bad idea it is. It's always freaking cold where I work, and so sometimes these comprimises have to be made. Anyway, today I was grinding away and I felt something kind of hot, stopped grinding, and 12" of flame was licking up my front. Patted it out and decided that perhaps my luck had run out. I melted through 2 fleece jackets and part of my t-shirt underneath... So I went and bought a nice 100% cotton work jacket and continued working... Say no to fleece! The skin you save might be your own. Actually I just wanted to point out how easy it is to become complacent because "it hasn't hurt me yet!"... Food for thought.
  19. Oh yeah I remember Chris's car. Cool. I had thought you were selling off the fleet... I guess I missed a few posts! Sounds like it'll be a sweet car though!
  20. What's this one going into Mike? You have more builds going on than I can keep track of.
  21. Not much going on with mine, the shop is taking up much of my time. - Halfway through mounting the Recaro's, should finish those on Sunday. - Just barely started on the cage install, more to come on Sunday too. - Re-wiring job is 10% done, needs to wait for other things. - Polished & ported intake is about 60% polished and 90% ported. - New big NPR isn't here yet. - No intercooler piping to speak of yet... sold my old stuff and the little NPR as a package. - Body work/paint prep hasn't startd yet. - Walbro fuel pump, 440cc/min injectors and new fuel rail are all ready to be installed. I've got about 2 months to do all the above.... joy!
  22. Honda (+40mm) offset 17"x7" wheels with a spacer such as from http://www.modern-motorsports.com works fine on a 300zx with stock or slightly lowered suspension.
