  1. You may want to do a search about throwing belts, there has been some advice in the past. One of the most common problems is mis-alignment, the next is the wrong belt type. Make sure the V of the belt matches the V of the pulley. If they don't match that could be the cause. On the Speedo if sounds like the needle came off the shaft, or the gears spun. You'll probably have to open it up and take a look inside. Hope that helps. - Joe

The MP's should be able to request the license info from the state it's registered in. Tell the MP's you're interested in getting the car, they should be of help. You may need to get the vin number from the dash, but if it has a tag on it that should be all you need. May cost you a cup of coffee or two, but that's a cheap way to make friends with the MP's - Joe
  3. Looks geat Mike, Can't wait to see it in person !!!!!! - Joe
  4. The Kit Car show is next week (May 16,17,18 ). This show includes classic imports (like Jamie T mentioned, lots of great older cars). The Import show is for the Ricer crowd. The Kit car show is a good place for info and see other kit cars. Last year there was a Alpha GTO 250 for sale. The flea market always has some interesting stuff. Well worth the trip. I'll be going on the 18th. - Joe
  5. Heck Mike, I don't know your dad, but I know you and I know he should be proud !!!!. Donna hit the nail on the head. You've earned the respect of a lot of people, myself included. I'm glad to know ya - Joe
  6. I remember when those wings showed up on Super Bee's. You could see the wing kick in when the car past 60, it started to drop and get a lower stance. They were (and are) fully functional. The great thing was back then even the cops would stand back and watch a pass with us. We'd all grin and head our seperated ways. It was 100+ pass in a safe spot with cops hanging around, man how times have changed. Back then we'd give the locals a heads up and see a any of them wanted to join us, on more then one occasion they asked us to move the run and wait for some of the other locals to arrive. We usually ended up making runs down a section of road the three different townships could watch and still be on duty in their area. Those Super Bee's, Chargers and Road Runners always drew a crowd to see that wing kick in. - Joe
  7. I've got an idea Mike, Have Donna go out a give it a little sweet talk. I heard a rumor that if she wispers in your ear you come unglued, maybe she can work her magic on the lift :D:D - Joe

    Discouraged.

Hang in there guys, I've been through some tough times and the best advice I can give is don't let it get you down. Don't get rid of the Z, use it as a goal, look at it and tell yourself that you'll get it running once you've cleaned things up. If you have to swap the V8 into the truck, you've now got a block from the truck that can be bored, stroked,.... THEN put in the Z. I hated the statement "When you get lemons make lemonaide" until I figured it out. If you want to have a little fun, take the collector who's bugging you the most and find a way to pay it off, but over pay it by $10 then call them every day until you get it back One key is to make a payment plan, if you stick to it they can't bother you. There are some good books on getting out of debt, check the library (it's free), you can always buy a copy later. I hope that helps. - Joe
  12. Keep us posted on the move and how the VR is comming along. - Joe

  15. AOL has also been caught mirroring web sites on their own servers. If they see a site that gets a lot of traffic they try and mirror that site on their own servers to increase their hit count to fool advertisers. There are plenty other services out there that will provide you with better service. Do yourself a favor and get off AOL. Check out other providers, you can get more for your money. I can't support a provider who knowingly violates copywrite laws and hijacks visitors. I've caught their tech support peolple giving bad advice more times than I can count, they even caused one of my customers to reformat his drive. :x The only good thing I can say about AOL is that correcting the problems they've created probably paid for my LT1 and T56 - Joe
  16. If you're going to carry a handgun do yourself a HUGE favor and the right type of training. You should pratice with the weapon you plan to carry with the ammo you'll be carring in the weapon. Training should be "stress induced" , if you have to use a weapon the adrenalin will flow and cause "attenuation" and the whole ball game changes. If you've trained this way you'll be able to keep your head. There are all types of advanced carry courses available. The important thing to understand is that if you ever need to use it you'll probably have to change your shorts also. With the proper courses and training you'll be able to minimize the need to use it. These courses will also cover the LEGAL implications of carrying. Like Mike said, you've just put the whole farm on the line the second you draw, let alone fire. I find it interesting that in the states that have relaxed concealed carry laws the violent crime rate has dropped, could it be the bad guys are worried ???? Sorry for the rant, but I can't stress enough about training. - Joe
  17. I think Timz put it well, this type of rod keeps the strut towers seperated by the same amount. It only works in compression or tension. Take two pencils and put another pencil across the top and you'll see how this type of strut bar works, it keeps the strut tops from opening or closing in relation to each other (side to side), but does nothing for twisting (fore/aft). To prevent twisting you're headed into an additional set of bars running to the frame in frount of (or behind) the strut tower to prevent fore/aft movment plus a set of bars in a trianglular configuration to a hard mounting point to prevent twisting. Again, try the pencil test and you'll see what I mean. Also, keep in mind how the suspension works, in the rear most of the flexing you see will be helped by this type of bar, and trangulation would be even better. In the frount the best way is a triangular setup to the firewall. - Joe
  18. Great reminder, Safety first !!!!. Glad you're safe, hope the cars OK. You probably saved someones butt with this post, maybe mine - Joe
  19. Pick up a Haynes manual. It has a wiring diagram that should send you in the right direction. - Joe

  21. Parking at Sach's can be tough and people have been known to go a little nuts when the good sales are on.
  22. Wally suddenly remembered the "R" did not stand for Race, however since this was LA he passed his driving test anyway.

    Vanilla Sky

It was deep blue, I'll check to see if i have any pics over the weekend and will post them if I do. It looked good, problem was it was missing a few cylinders 2 or 6 depending on your preference . - Joe
  24. It looks like it was made to short. Does your hood line up OK? If things were twisted that far out of line there'd be a 1/4 inch gap around the hood. Send that picture to the folks you bought the bar from and see what they say about it. Let us know how you make out. - Joe
