  1. Heck, buy it and put it on someone else's car kind of like a modern day exhaust wistler - Joe
  2. Had a similar problem with a 626, turned out the timing belt had failed and slipped. Timing looked OK, but the cams were out of sync. Also check that you are getting a spark, in the '93 626 the coil and ignition mod are built into the distributor and are prone to failure. - Joe
  3. Skipping a gear while up-shifter : OK, keep it in the low range Skipping a gear while down-shifting: PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE
  4. That video should be given to the police and charges should be pressed. I'll agree with
  5. Call the shop that did the painting for you and tell them what you found. They'll probably want you to bring it back to the shop, but you can always ask (beg) them to fix it at your place Keep in mind that they have all the tools and paint to get it fixed at the shop, so don't be suprised if they want you to bring it back. -Joe
  6. Mike, 1. Aren't you glad the roof was on before the snow came ?? 2. Hope you remembered to wire the garage for 120V AC, NOT 12V DC 3. No, you don't need to use Pete's light relay info 4. Be honest with the kid, tell him "My dad would never have let ME move out there", or "trust me, it's for your own good", or just smile real big and tell him "me and mom have plans for the upstairs" and poke him with your elbow a few times - Joe
  7. Just tried to check the pics and it said no photos in album - Joe

    In TOO Far!

Is it considered cheating if I bagged the nuts/bolts/small parts with a somewhat readable label ?? Now instead of guesing each and evey bolt I grab a bag and I have a whole bunch a parts I don't remember where they go , but I'm sure they all go the same place -Joe
  9. I would recomend putting a fan blowing air (through a filter) IN TO your paint booth and setting up an exhaust vent to let the fumes out. If you use a fan to pull the fumes out (i.e. in the exhaust vent) you need to use an "explosion proof" fan and they tend to be pricey. I'll be setting up a similar setup in my garage this winter where I'm going to use a propane heater to warm thing up first. I'll create positve pressure in the booth by pushing air IN TO the booth and simply venting the fumes. This way the fumes are kept away from things that might make them go BOOM . (yes, the propane heater will be off before any paint is even mixed !!!, I still remember my lessons from Fire Fighting School) - Joe
  10. Well, thanks to a select group of lawyers and polititions it appears that we are now guilty until proven guilty. This kind of stuff just boils my blood. Common sense is gone, right and wrong doesn't count, all that counts is what the lawyers can sue for. The corporate enviorment today is one of the reasons I run my own businesses, and will help others do the same. Needless to say I now support Tort Reform. - Joe
  11. Thanks Grumpy, you've always got great info. - Joe
  12. I read someplace the Pep Boys had a replacement set for the '94 Optispark that had the vacuum port on it. I went over to Pep Boys and sure enough the '94 replacement cover had the vacuum line port on it, but I believe it was plugged. Cost was aroung $180, so I may just get one, drill out the plug and set up the vacuum lines. A lot simpler than modifing a '94 for vacuum or changing to a '95. -Joe
  13. That's just about the same color I'm using I spent a bunch of time with the paint shop going over color charts until I found the one I wanted. I almost thought I was looking at a picture of my engine compartment !!! Needless to say, Looks Great -Joe
  14. goes to show the outcome of over zealous gun control laws, no 12 Ga. to turn it into squirl stew and it knows it
  15. Hang in there Mike and tell him he's got a whole lot of folks pulling for a quick and full recovery. Remind him that you're going need help getting the garage finished -Joe
  16. Might be interested, so you've got mail -Joe
  17. Tim, Where'd you find the write-up ???? I'll be ready to program soon and would like to see the write up you found. Never can have to much good info. Also, do you have a write-up of your trans mount? It is an interesting mount. - Joe
  18. Don't worry too much Dan, having an 18 year old daughter I suspect that it's only hormones and should pass . -Joe
  19. Maybe the key is having a bunch of Z folks over the night before you go racing Could be the combination food, beverage, and conversation put your mind in the proper condition for bike racing. Only way to tell would be to do it again before the next bike race and check the results -Joe
  20. Got 'em. You can never have too much documentaion. Thanks for the link. -Joe
  21. Make sure you set it at TDC on the COMPRESSION stroke. Pull the plugs, turn by hand and you'll hear the air blow out the plug hole. That's how you'll know it's the compression stroke (both valves closed). Always remember that the piston hits TDC twice during the cycle. Also check that the rotor in the distributor is pointing at the number 1 plug. Been there, Done that, Banged my head for each letter in COMPRESSION STROKE FOOL. -VRJoe
  22. Daily driver, Road Racer, Auto-X, and as many curvey roads I can find (like Lincoln Drive/Kelly Drive in Phila.) -VRJoe
  23. The vents in the sail should actually help draw pressure from the rear of the car, it gives the air a path to escape from the hatch area. I'm planning on putting a cover over them, like a reverse scoop, to help draw air from the interior (and change the lines a little bit ) When sealing the back be sure to seal the overflow tank lines from the fuel tank. I suspect that exhaust is getting pulled under the car, then pulled from under the car in to the rear hatch area. Check the complete rear area for any leaks. There are a lot of places in the rear area for air to get sucked in. Did you remove the bumper mounts? If you did make sure you sealed those holes. -VRJoe
  24. I was looking for more info on the 94 Z28 wiring harness then I could find in my Hayes manual. While searching I found alldata.com, they have the OEM manuals posted on the internet. It costs $24.95 for a years access. Additional cars can be added for $14.95. I signed up today for the '94 Camaro and have definately gotten my monies worth. you might want to give it a try. I suspect I'll be adding more cars to my subsdcription. You can print the info of even save it to disk. Let's see -- Helms $90.00, wait for shipping or alldata.com for $24.95 and I get it right now. No brainer since I only wanted to figure out the connectors on the underdash portion of the harness. -VRJoe
