  1. Hey if they get testy just ask them if THEY want to explain to a HybridZ member why their goodies were late , then get a terified look in your eyes and say "I didn't think I'd survive last time things were late, Please don't make me ship these late, please, huh, plllleeeeaaassse ............" - Joe
  2. I only recommend IBM ThinkPads. IBM is still the best at Tech Support. I wouldn't touch any other brand. I've gotten at least 50 for clients and have never had a complaint. A few have had problems, but the service is the best you could ask for. - Joe
  3. Have you tried a different rebuiler, could be your problem right there, not the calipers, but the guy who's doing the rebuilding. I rebuilt mine and just bled the system. I just got the LT1 and T56 mounted today so it'll be a while before they're tested with power, but no leaks yet. I got Maxima brackets from a dealer. A little expensive, but I couldn't find any at the local JY at the time. - Joe
  4. I had a GT6 years ago, what a great car. True sport car, cooked your right leg, had to learn the right way to get in and out, cornered on a dime and gave you change back. I used to get challanged by 302 Novas all the time back then and would leave them in the dust. Only problems was Lucas electrical and staring at the hubs of the 18 wheeler next to you - Joe
  5. What the heck, I'll raise the average a little ..... 46. I've probably had hang overs that are older that a few of you fellows -Joe
  6. Don't forget to check the fuel pump and fuel flow. - Joe
  7. Let's see, You buy the 'Vette, drive it around a while, then after parking it next to the Z for a few months your mind starts saying "Hmmmm 'Vette suspension and drivetrain in a Z......" :D A 'Vette's not a Z, but it's close. - Joe
  8. Sounds like the hammer has it in for you, do your knee a favor and get a new hammer - Joe
  9. Let's see ..... Thursday- eat food, watch football .... Friday - get Z ready for LT1 and T56 ...... Saturday - put LT1 and T56 in Z .... Sunday ... Measure for driveshaft , admire front of Z and drink a beer or two.......... Yep looks like a happy Thanksgiving to me I hope everybody has a great weekend. - Joe
  10. I noticed from the posts that this seems to happen on lowered cars. Is it possible that the rods are hitting things like speed bumps, steep ramps ..... and getting damaged ?? If they get hit enough times it could create a stress fracture which would result in failure. Could the combination of stress induced by lowering plus the stress of Poly bushings coupled with getting banged a few be the cause of the failure ??? Just a thought - Joe
  11. On cars with anti-lock brakes it is recommended that you open the bleed plug when pushing the piston back so you don't damage the valves in the anti-lock setup. On a car without anti-lock brakes it is not necessary to open the bleed valve, just push the piston back slowly. - Joe
  12. You should be able to find the fittings at a NAPA store. If not get the pre-made lines and bend them to shape. You can cut the pre-made lines, re-use the fitting and only need to flare one end. I got pre-made lines from both NAPA and Pep Boys. If they don't have the lines or fittings, look in the phone book for a hydraulic shop, or call a place that sells heavy equipment and ask them were they get the lines repaired. I got a double flare tool from Sears, and a bender at a Carlisle show. It took some practice, but it wasn't to tough. - Joe
  13. I got a set of SS lines from MSA that were M-F then modified the male fitting to work in the caliper. I've just installed them, but have not pressure tested them yet. I'll be putting in the master cylinder and bleeding the system this week with any luck. I think Mike at fonebooth.com has lines that use a banjo bolt. Ross at Modern may have some similar. Try MSA, Ross or Mike and you should find something that will work. - Joe
  14. The cruise control is a seperate unit on my '94 LT1. It does not tie into the ECU. The inputs for it are: GRAY - Cruise control switch - On DARK BLUE - Cruise control switch - Set/Coast GRAY/BLACK - Cruise control switch - Resume/Accel BROWN - Cruise Release/Brake switch output BLACK - Ground PINK - Power Feed (from A/C-Cruise fuse #12) YELLOW - Brake Depressed Input DARK GREEN/WHITE - Vehicle Speed Signal All these inputs are from the cruise switch, brake (and clutch), VSS and power. There is a switch set up for the clutch to release the cruise when the clutch is pressed, similar to the brake light switch, check the wiring diagram. I'll be setting it up on my Z for the fun of it. Hope that helps. - Joe
  15. Once again HybridZ proves to be faster than a 1200HP Z Thanks for the answers, that pretty much confirms my suspitions. I thought about re-shaping the bar to put a drop in it so it will clear, or lowering the mounts. The rear mounted bar sounds interesting ..... then again I don't really need it ..... but it would be pretty easy to modify it ....... AHHHHH THE CURSE OF THE MODIFIER STRIKES AGIAN ......... - Joe
  16. I have a '77 280Z and used the Ron Tyler diff. mount. It looks as if the rear anti-sway bar may contact the driveshaft flange. I haven't mounted the engine and trans yet ('94 LT1 and T56) to measure for the driveshaft and verify if it will clear. I was wondering if anybody else used the Ron T. diff mount in a 280Z and if this is an issue of not. Do I even need to use the rear anti-sway bar ????? - Joe
  17. I got mine from Suspension Restoration (http://www.suspension.com). -Joe
  18. Check the Alternator. If it's not putting out enough power all kinds of crazy things can go wrong. - Joe
  19. Could be a lifter or rocker arm. Take the valve cover off and check by bumping the engine or turning by hand. - Joe
  20. You're going to have to pull the door panel off and take a look at the whole assembly. It might have a worn roller or just need re-adjusting. Grab a manual and take a look at the window regulator. It's a pretty simple setup, it might be the coil spring it shot. Hope that helps. - Joe
  21. Let the inmates have him. Remeber what happened to that priest convicted of child molestation a few weeks ago. A life sentence wouldn't be very long I suspect. Fire ants still sounds good though, I wonder if we could get that put into the sentencing guidelines - Joe
  22. Great story. Now you've got a whole bunch of Texans waiting for you're return to the States just to check it out. - Joe
  23. Check the exhaust system up front. It sounds like a leak around the turbo that's getting in through the seals in the firewall or the air intake. Check for leaks around the header and turbo. The fact that hard driving increases the smell points up front. Try covering the firewall seals with tape and covering the air intake grill also. If there's less smell you'll know that the problem is up front. - Joe
