  1. Same here I ordered online using the part # referenced in my first post on this thread
  2. Yes beware of radiator shops and your fuel tank! I speak from experience on this issue. I also knew a guy once that used to weld on tanks with the gas still inside for a living. Of course he doesn't do it anymore, became a cop instead, less dangerous Good luck
  3. I have seen someone's car on this site that welded up the three large holes directly under the cowl finisher but I can't remember who it belongs to or how they will ever get to the windshield wiper motor ever again. If you just weld over the drain holes you are looking for trouble in my opinion. You are right, unless you weld/cover the large cowl holes water would just settle in there until it condensated.
  4. Update, I finally got around to pulling off the crap from Vic Brit today on my driver's door and replaced it with the Mcmaster stuff. It went on in less than five minutes and fits like the factory stuff! I still have to work on the corner a little though but so far I am very happy with the stuff.
  5. You know it's funny how that little Z looks awesome in the video clips and not so awesome in the pics. Z's always look better in motion I think. Congrats on winning the Z, I will be going today to look at a red 83 ZX that I may be able to get for 500 dollars cash in Acworth, GA. Man I love Z cars
  6. Dale I bought my blue 280 (pictured below) from a guy in Cumming. I think his last name was Conner. Anyway keep looking and you will find one. By the way my Z had no rust in the floor at all. The floor pans looked brand new when I pulled back the carpet so you can find good cars on the east coast if you try hard enough.
  7. Hey how about drawing the V-8 wiring diagram using all the right colors that is found on page 9-6 in the seventh edition of the JTR manual. I was working on a poor man's version using microsoft word.
  8. Thanks Ross you will probably be hearing from me again shortly 8)
  9. Thanks for the excellent photos! They answer my questions about installing the coilovers perfectly
  10. I have felt this way several million times since I started the Z project. Just take a deep breath brother and hang in there. A good example of this feeling is when I had a shop teacher at the vo-tech school tell me that he knew what was causing my Z car to slip out of gear while in reverse. He instructed me to go and buy new Nissan parts, $250.00 for two gears! He guaranteed that this would fix my problem. Not. I had suggested purchasing a used 5 speed tranny from a salvage yard for my 75 Z instead. He and several others there told me that the ZX 5 speed would not fit the 280 because it had different bolt patterns. Rubbish! Hang in there and take a few days off from your project. Things will get better, they always do.
  11. Hey Juan, Did you have to cut the original spring perch off of the strut housing to use the coil overs? If so how did you do this? Also does the red piece screw into the old housing? You have good photos on your web site but I would like to see a step by step photo process. Hey Ross if you are reading this it would be a big help if you had a customer's install on your coil overs like you do on the rear disk upgrade. I'm still not sure if I want to go with coilovers. I may go with stiffer springs and good struts instead.
  12. Pretty Boy Charlie of the Dirty Drunkards MC My wife is Dirty Melissa of the same Dirty Drunkards Too funny
  13. Ok ok I am gonna end on this and say nothing more! When you can turn on the local radio station and hear words like G*d D**n and P***y without the ******* FCC yanking them off the air then I think the use of the word dick in the way that it was used here is not offensive. The radio show I speak of by the way is the regular guys show on 96 rock in Atlanta. Listen for yourself shithead. This site is pretty ******* clean if you ask me so all the worrying and ranting is not warranted. I do not need a person to tell me how or what I should say. I am a grown ******* man and can watch after my ******* self thank you. It's as bad as all those cock heads who want the Government to step in and make new laws to take away more of our fredoms! **** man when is it going to end! When I said that this aint ******* Sunday School I meant just that. Like Aux said in an earlier post on this topic there are just some times when you want to get your message across and a curse word is the only way to effectively do it mother fucker! And one more thing if you choose not to curse in your day to day life then that's great, fantastic and awesome! Just live your life and I will live mine fucker. I intentionally used a number of curse words in this post to see if the filter would catch them. I put the words in bold so you could see how many it caught. Guess what it caught them all. Nuff said, lets go on to the next topic shit faces!
  14. This aint sunday school folks It is real life and folks from all walks of life at that. I occasionally use the $$ signs in my post because I felt it was better than just spelling out the word itself. I work around people whos second language is curse words. I was in the Army for 4 years also and helped to write the book on cursing. We do have a filter because I remember a post where a guy tried to write drain c-o-c-k or something like that and it came out drain cock because of the filter. Too funny.
  15. lol, we are all red necks in some way or another Most car guys can be considered that by most people. You should have seen the look on my neighbor's face when I bought the primer grey Camaro just to harvest the 350 engine. In my driveway no less. I had to assure him that the car parked under the tree in my yard leaking fluids whith no engine ane the hood laying across the top was only temporary.
  16. It's because of people like that kid that I will never have to worry about being laid off
  17. Sounds like you pi$$ed him off lol I used to live in a duplex and the landlord would not allow you to park in the street even in front of your own house. She would leave you snooty notes on the door or worse stop by or call. She did this once when my company was still there. Embarrassing
  18. Aux my rant was't so much aimed at you (and the tommy gun) as it was the post just underneath yours. All to often I have to hear of folks cop bashing especially when it seems like they got one up on them. When I was younger I could not stand the police, I hated them. Now that I have been doing the job for close to 15 years I see them in a different light. Listen folks, cops are people just like you and the idiot that Aux dealt with. They are not robots keep that in mind. There are good ones and bad ones and I have to admit that there are a few that should have done something else with there lives instead of becoming a police officer. I know because I work with a few of them now! But having said that, there are smart a$$es and idiots in ALL professions...ALL. I know that there are some neighborhoods where you have to park on the street and it must be a pain in the butt. It's because of how the houses are built these days practically one on top of the other with short dingy drive ways if you can call them that. Be patient with people and be careful about what you call someone because there is no telling what they are calling you
  19. Regardless if it is a public street or not use common sense and keep your car from in front of someone's house. I guess here in Georgia we do not have that problem. I have owned two houses now and have never had a problem with my neighbors parking in front of my house. Most people who are buying rather than renting are a little picky about these sorts of things. Especially when you could have easily parked in front of your friends or parents house to begin with. If at all possible it is always better to park in the driveway rather than on the "public street" anyway. Just my two cents as a homeowner and redneck Yep a redneck policeman to boot. I figure that most of us here can be called a redneck by someone. Answer these questions: Do you have a car in your yard on jack stands? Do you have an engine on a stand in your only garage or car port? Do you paint your car in your only garage, carport, or yard? Do you invite friends over to drink a beer and work on the car? I think if you answered yest to any of these questions you might just be a red neck (sorry jeff f.)
  20. It isn't exactly the same but the JC Whitney hood came with no vents Not all 280's have vents, just the 77's and 78's. Nice job filling in those holes
  21. Yep that's what I will try when the time comes.
  22. You know funny you guys should ask about the flat piece. I'm assuming the corner piece is what you are referring to. I haven't tried mine yet but I was also wondering about the corner piece. I will tackle this soon though so I should learn from trial and error on what will and will not work in the corner.
  23. Hi, I have ordered 25 feet of part number 1120A33 from McMaster-Carr. This was the part number that was suggested to us back a couple of months ago. The description of the item is as follows: Push-On Edge-Trim Rubber Seal Bulb Opposite Grabber, 3/16" Edge, 5/8" Bulb Width I hope this helps you out.
  24. How did you guys find those Z's? I search ebay all the time and I couldn't bring those cars up on my favorite setting for the Z car. This makes me wonder if I have missed some Z's in the past on ebay because of me searching wrong.
  25. Did anyone else get the copy of the MSA catalog with the west coast nationals on the cover? DId you see the new aluminum bolt in radiator coming in spring? It is on page 10. My question is who makes this thing for them so we can cut out the middle man and get it cheaper than the $459.95 asking price?
