Have you ever noticed how everyone looks at your Z when you drive it around town? I used to own a cherry 280ZX that would literally turn every head when I passed by. I sold that car to buy a Corvette and almost cried when it left my driveway. The Vette was also cherry and it would haul major ***, a lot faster than my little ZX ever thought about being. But you know it was just another red Corvette while I was sitting in traffic. No one batted an eye at the car. I sold it less than six months later because I never drove it. My new 76 280Z is still several different colors. The original color is blue and it has a black primer front right fender a white fiberglass hood, gray MSA fiberglass front and rear and some spots of gray primer on it to boot. But you know what? People still stare at it when I drive through town. Because…it is different…it is a Z… Remember there are not many of the little cars left. Cherish your Z.

I also threw in a bid early on but was soon outbidded. Man alive over 600 greenbacks.

Hey I appreciate the detailed response. I was beginning to think that I was going to be on my own on this one. I do not know right off hand how many miles are on the car (I’m at work right now) but as far as the gas goes. My wife is a frugal one and she uses the cheapest gas that she can get her hands on. Thanks again, I looked for maxima links but they did not give the answers I was looking for, I will try Maxima.com.

Hi guys I need to get at the EGR valve on my wife's 99 Maxima. Problem is I think that it may be underneath the plentum. I have taken a photo of the engine bay. Can anyone suggest where the valve may be? By the way the reason I need to know is because the check engine light is on (again) and the code suggested the EGR. I want to clean it and put it back in. Thanks for any help in advance.

I know the guy says that MSA sells something to help put this in an early Z but really how easy is it to hook this thing up in a 280Z? Anybody...anybody...Bueller...Bueller... 500 bones eh I may just have some extra bones in my closet I will have to watch this one.

Here's a few pics I took the last time I had the front cross member mounted using the MSA stuff. From these pictures it looks like a mechanical fuel pump would be possible.

This is something that I have been wondering about myself. I may have to mock up my front cross member and MSA mounts again and find an old mechanical fuel pump to see if it fits. I do know that MSA sells an electric fuel pump for their conversion so there may be our answer. If no one responds with an answer I will try to do the mock up on my next off day, which will be Wednesday.

Haha, nope, that is Ford engine blue the late model blue I might add. The older Ford engine blue is a bit darker. I had planned on doing my suspension parts in this color a while back but I think that when I get it all done I will go back to painting the housings gloss black. The best thing about a work in progress is that you can make changes as you go and if you do something that you do not like, well just change it. By the way the camera flash makes the blue pop a little brighter than it probably is

Ah yes my friend look closely and you shall see the red zip ties around my Tokico springs I have had no problems whatsoever with my springs and I have jacked up the front end of my Z many times since I put on the new springs.

I found it in their catelog, it was over $400 after final shipping.

Boy oh boy how did I miss this! I go to Ebay almost daily and I did not catch this one. I would have fell out of my chair laughing reading those comments. I cannot believe he actually posted them for everyone to see. What a tool!

Jealousy is sometimes a good thing. It is good that all your friends want or are interested in this concept. I am approaching 40 years old and I have no friends that are interested in converting a Z into a V8. I have been trying to do the conversion all by myself for the last four or five years. That is unless you count the many online friends here at Hybrid Z that has been beneficial to me. I believe in my heart that if I had someone, a friend, doing this same thing and going through the swap along with me, that my Z would have been up and running with the V-8 years ago. Sadly though as of yet none of them have bit on the invitation to join in on the fun, chaos and scraped knuckles that I have experienced along the way. Hey but wait a second. That means that when I finally do get the Z8 up and running I will definitely be in the minority among my friends. That’s a good thing also.

If you broke open any lines you will need to bleed the system. Check with an auto parts store on the brake fluid. Someone else here may also have a suggestion.
