Suspension Techniques steering coupler
Georgia Flash replied to PETEW's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Pete, are you talking about the round thing? If you are and I'm pretty sure that you are mine fit fine using all the old nuts and bolts and the steel pieces. Now the two pieces of urethane that go on the steering rack are another story all together! I could not get those to fit even after whittling on them with my pocket knife I eventually threw them away, they were way too large. -
Man that's pretty cool! But you see my problem lol. The chalky paint on the car already doesn't give us a good starting platform to work with. Not to mention all the different colors. However, I must say that you did a lot better job than I was able to do.
-
You wanted red well here it is! My first attempt at this. I tried my Z but it came out pretty bad because of all the colors that are on it right now
-
Thank you, I will give it a try.
-
How do you guys transfer color onto the pic and make it look so real? I have photoshop but have never been shown how to do this. Is it a hard process to learn? What function in the photoshop do I need to implement to accomplish pics like these?

Yes fight the ticket IF and only IF you think you were screwed over by the officer that wrote it. If you were guilty be a man and face the consequences. And by all means never argue your case to the officer writing the ticket on the side of the road. Big mistake made by most people. Remember life is a game so if you choose to play be ready to pay if and when you get caught. That is one thing that is wrong with this country already, everybody wants to blame someone else for their problems instead of stepping up and taking the blame themselves. I'm no angel myself but I do accept my own self created problems and then drive on from there.

I have a set of the Camaro mirrors that I will be putting on my Z one of these days. I have trial fitted one of them onto my parts car's passenger door. The only problem I see for those mirrors is the angle may not be right. It tends to point upwards a little too much for my taste. I may have to fab some type of bracket for them when the time comes.

240 SX Caliper swap question
Georgia Flash replied to Georgia Flash's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I used the stock parts already on the Z with the exception of the 280ZX booster and master cylinder. They were already on the Z when I started the conversion. I did take my car for a spin and everything appeared to be fine. The e-brake works like a charm and by the way guys make sure you cross the e- brake lines in the back. This will make them the right length. -
240 SX Caliper swap question

Modern Motorsports rear conversion DONE!!! One thing checked off the project list! -
Has anyone tried this product (Rust Bullet)? It is cheaper than POR 15 and they say that it is better also. Check out the gallery and look at the Z car with the long front fenders. This is the link to their site: http://www.stoprust.net

Yeah I have been using engine paint. I will try the heater thing I have one of those little electric space heaters. I may even try the hair drier.

240 SX Caliper swap question
Georgia Flash replied to Georgia Flash's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Thanks guys, I had to take a break from the job. I was getting to the point of being frustrated enough to through one of those massive 300ZX disks through the garage door. Alot of busted dirty knuckles on this one fellas. That brake line that runs to the driver's side had me cussing trying to get that sucker off, but now she is off and my new 20" section is hooked up. Back to work back to work!!! -
240 SX Caliper swap question
Georgia Flash replied to Georgia Flash's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Thanks, I should be able to give a progress report sometime tonight on the swap. I will try the locktite. -
Haha at this time of year everybody should have some fine cooking to enjoy I would think anyway. I visited Cali twice when I was in the Army, however, it wasn't very enjoyable. I went to the National Training Center near San Bernadino CA. in the 80's. 110 degrees in the shade! The only thing that was good was there was no humidity like here in GA.

Alot of you folks are showing your age on this one 396 Chevelles were pretty cool when I was a youngster and no they were not 350's that someone in the backyard tinkered with to make them 396's. They came that way installed from the factory in certain GM cars. It would be killer to have one in a Z because it seems that no one here has one. On the 400 small block, my mom had a 1976 Pontiac Firebird Formula with a 400 sb and it was a dog. Any 396 Chevy would have easily kicked its arse! Grumpy should have all the answers on this one I would think

I have a question in which I need an answer quick! With the braided lines supplied in the Modern Motorsports 240SX/300ZX swap do you need to use teflon tape on the lines where they connect to the caliper? Those connections are a bit different than the traditional Z car connerctor that's why I ask. Ross I would have emailed you directly but by now there should be a few of us that have done or are in the middle of this swap so I figured that I would get a faster answer here I will probably be finished with my swap onto the 76 Z today. I will be going to pick up the 20" section of hard line in a few so maybe with some luck I will be driving the Z with the sweet disks in the rear on Christmas Eve!

An idea, possibly cut down on exhaust odor...
Georgia Flash replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
Listen to this guys, the other day I took off the vinyl cover on the inside of my hatch (located on the underside below the window) while putting on my rear spoiler. This cover hides several large holes on the underside of the hatch. I drove the car to work the next morning with the cover still off and almost passed out due to the fumes! This is an area, that to my knowledge, has never been discussed on this site. I replaced the piece of vinyl and in the process I put a litte RTV around the edges before screwing it back into place. No more exhaust fumes, period! I stumbled onto this exhaust leak problem purely by accident. All I knew was that before I pulled the cover off, my car had zero fume leakage and after it was off they were horrible. I hope this helps someone else out, I would have never guessed that the little piece of interior trim could hold back all those fumes! -
Yep I painted them in my garage last night and brought them inside and placed them on the counter top directly above the dish washer. The counter gets real warm there. I am about to go back at it again this morning. I have to go and pick up my 20" piece of hard line from O'rielly's parts store in about an hour so I can start on the driver's side for the rear brake swap.
-
Yeppers that is my problem right now here in GA it is 52 degrees! I usually do the same thing that you suggested but I have no sun just rain and cold I hate you California boys 8) Just kidding, I wish I lived out there sometimes.
-
Man did you guys notice that at the end the girl is still holding that little piece of paper in her left hand. Amazing! Wear those seatbelts friends.
-
Has anyone ever spray painted a part with regular over the counter spray paint and then baked it in an oven? If so what were the results? How long did you leave it in the oven and at what temperature did you do the baking? I was re-doing my 240SX calipers in preparation for putting them on the 76 Z and I remember last time it took the damn paint about three days to fully dry! I painted them last night and they are still very tacky to the touch.

Man that is one clean engine bay!!!!

This post probably needs to be moved somewhere else. Yes customer service is a big priority with me also but a little word to the wise if I may. I will never do business with MSA again if I can help it after the crap I went through this summer with my Panasport wheel order. Long long story in which I will not bore anyone else with here. I was just wanting to caution you about MSA. I have spent nearly 5,000 dollars with them over the last few years and until the wheel thing I used to brag on them. Not anymore!! It just goes to show that poor customer service can be had anywhere. By the way I also have the MSA engine mounts and tranny mount. They just aren't mounted yet
