Damn...just awesomness

ok fine...they reduce fuel pressure in vacuum conditions
-
On an NA car they also increase FP at WOT when vacuum becomes 0. yup:icon14:
-
True...unless something happened since being on the dyno. But yeah another buddy of mine had that same problem with his 260...keeping the tank at least 1/2 full kept that under control tho. My 75 280Z tank has the internal baffling and I havent experienced that issue. Looks like your FPR has a vacuum line hooked up to it. I'm not sure who your tuner is but if he didnt account for it that could be part of the problem. 98+ LS1s dont have a return or use any vacuum adjustment. The tune in these computers would likely have issue with that setup unless the tuner knew that and adjusted for it. To my knowledge only the 97 vette had a return style system. Also 43psi is about what LT1s run...its possible that was adjusted for in the tune but then the lower pressure changes what your injectors would be capable of putting out, effectively going from 26lb/hr to something lower. Anyhow I would focus on making sure FP is correct...just make sure you know what its supposed to be for your setup as it may have been adjusted for in the tune.

43psi after the fuel rail?...did you check at the fuel rail? It should be 58-62 there. I originally had a fuel pressure issue with mine. It turned out my pump wasnt getting enough voltage because of the 280Z fuel pump wire. It read about 12 volts at the fuel pump at idle (shoulda been 14.5). I ran a new wire and that solved my issue.

hmmm interesting...another LS1 Z I know of was having issues with the Alt power cable contacting the driver side JCI motor mount attachment and causing the same issue but ony in 1st. Might be worth investigating.

with that on/off really sounds like fuel. hook up a fuel pressure guage and go beat on it and see.

LS1 Conversion Reliability??
Bigdeezs replied to jeff81's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
yeah ross sells a whole bolt in kit for the q45 diff http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=74&PHPSESSID=156d790303127333ab63b76e7f4027ec About 7k on my swap now without a hickup. I daily drive mine, make 400+whp and used to break stock 280Z axles but I did the q45 swap and now its money. Drove it 70 miles to the drag strip last weekend, clicked off a few mid 11 passes and drove it home. You can drive this car like you stole it on a regular basis without issue. -
What is the easiest/cheapest LS1 Z swap?
Bigdeezs replied to sanders8800's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
garvice...there is a pretty much a bolt in kit for the S30 to LSx motor. The S130, not so much. That would be the reason to use an S30. Those parts from JTR are for earlier V8 motor conversions. Sanders... the 240/260 chassis is a bit lighter (as long as you have an early 260) the 280 (and late 260) chassis is heavier but is supposed to be a bit stronger. I have the 280 chassis but would prefer the lighter 240/early 260 chassis for the weight savings. Also from what I've seen the 240/260s dont seem to have any trouble holding up to the power from the LSx motor so why not be lighter? -

From what I've found they go out and film to get people to sign up for their website...I assume cuz they get more $$ from sponsors with more members (asside from the enjoyment and praise)... Heres a quote from LS1tech: A4Blk98SS Teching In My Garage Trader Rating: 0 Join Date: Jan 2002 Location: Orange County, CA Posts: 13 It was fun watching you guys race today. For everyone that came and got a sticker we got all of you at least once and in most cases multiple times. I took 62 videos total today including a couple with the 2010 Camaro. With any luck we should have them up at our site by the end of the week, so keep your eyes open. If anyone wants high resolution copies just send me a PM and I'll get it to you. In addition my wife too hundreds of pictures from the start area. Those should be up in about a week as well. Thanks! -

Went to California Speedway's 1/4 track for Memorial day for some chillen, BBQ'n and racin. Three LSx Zs showed up along with a 469 rwhp RB26 Datsun. Mine is the primer gray Z and USA3776 is the blue one(didnt run). ColtGT4g63, with the orange Z came all the way up from San Diego with some buddies to run his! The air temp got up into the low 80s and density altitude was about 3600ft at midday but I still was able to run my new best of 11.470@122 with a 1.843 60ft (on 235/45/17 Continentals): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfkXmskhvfY. I also got about 25mpg on the 140 mile roundtrip (not including racing:-P). ColtGT4g53 ran a best of 10.9@124 with a 1.563 60ft! (hope you dont mind me posting this Dave ) oops howd that get in there This was the RB26 Datsun...one of coltgt45's buddies from San Diego also. He had some issues but got a few runs. Not sure what his best was.

Help! Troubleshooting a dormant LS1
Bigdeezs replied to maichor's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Yup...O2s read false air so mixture goes rich...now extra air and fuel in hot exhaust burns...POP POP. -
I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that the 6l80 is very close dimension wise to the 4l60.
-
really great info...thanks Wayne!
-
Usually the max I see touted is 600 flywheel or ~500RWHP...800 sounds like a stretch but maybe on these light weight cars it will hold . My built 4L60E is holding 500whp on my daily 3800# Blazer with drag radials...no problems for the past two years but I havent been squeezing as much as I used to now that I have my Datsun .

if you mean this pan: I think VinZXT used this pan and had to cut off the wings to make it fit.
