  1. I'm not sure if I understand that correctly... Are you saying that you didn't need adapter plates to use the JTR kit? [edit] In either case, it looks like I'll probably be going the older style 350 route. I found an old friend that has an older El Camino. He's selling me the entire car for $500 and I've already got the JTR kit. Thanks for the replies guys.
  2. Ok, I searched through the forums, but, couldn't find the answer...or maybe I just didn't see it correctly... Will the JTR 350 kit work for the LS1?
  3. If you can make a Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX run 10's with hydraulic lifters...why wouldn't you be able to do the same with a datsun?
  4. http://autoearth.com/diecasts/list.asp Click under manufacturer and then Datsun...some nice die cast models there...
  5. Hmm...if I remember right...in the comic...The Marines went in and kicked all of their asses.
  6. That FMIC needs a big Z painted right smack dab in the center of it...
  7. Hmm...I don't think it's a sport bike because it has dual pipes...could be either a honda or a yamaha cruiser... The above mentioned site sounds alot like http://www.rotten.com
  8. As a bike rider.... It wouldn't have mattered if they were in a car or on a motorcycle, they'd still be all over the road... Looks like a Harley from the pipes... Stuff like that usually happens from trying pass in the wrong area...my guess is that the bike tried to pass but couldn't quite make it.
  9. hehe...well...I'm not so concerned about the EGR actually working, as it just looking like it's there...Passing the actual emission test isn't that hard, but, the visual is what can get ya.
  10. Hehe...well, Socialism has worked great for most European countries for a very long time.
  11. That's why we discussed the tach adapter in an earlier related thread. That's the reason I didn't finish my install, everything worked correctly except the rpm signal.
  12. There's only one wire that needs to be cut to use the S-AFC. Everything else is just spliced into (you can use vampire clips, it's done every day with success and they even include them with the unit). Once you figure out which wire goes where, it should actually take you less than 15-20 minutes to actually install the unit as the ECU is pretty much right there in your face on the Z. I found a piece of paper I used when installing mine...I wrote down the wire numbers, but, make sure you double check them...for some reason I wrote down some other numbers next to them (it's been awhile) Throttle switch full - 3 Air Flow Meter - 7 Engine Speed - 1 Power - 10 Ground - 35 The AirFlow meter needs to be cut with both ends going to the AFC... You're going to have to look in the back of the book for the generic vehicle instructions, you won't find the wiring in the vehicle specific section. Now...I don't know what I was doing at the time, but...next to the numbers above, I wrote down... 5,6,17,35 With all of that being said, the S-AFC can't give you more WOT fuel...you still have to get bigger injectors...what the S-AFC is really good for is allowing you to tune the bigger injectors.
  13. Whaddya mean? We have a great balance in this country if you think about it. We're one of if not the most properous country in the entire world...
  14. Our Mitsubishi plant in Normal, Illinois is unionized....maybe the Toyota one is, too..
  15. LOL. And this is being read on an import car forum btw...the answer to that joke is... Canada
  16. Robert, Yeah, I was going to try and make it back to that side of town, but, that doesn't look like it's going to happen so I'll stop by Mailboxes etc and send it out tomorrow or I can UPS it if you have a physical addy.
  17. mas280, do you have any pictures of your setup? I think I understand the concept (I read a little bit about it) but couldn't find any pictures to make sure...
  18. Hmm...as a dealership service technician (the enemy?) I find these views very interesting... 1st...define reasonable? If any of you have ever had to buy tools from "The Snap On Guy" then reasonable takes on an entirely new meaning...a $20 socket is nothing off of "The Truck" where a pair of pliars can you run you $50. 2nd...all TSBs/Recall information is already available to the general public (by law). I believe it can be accessed through http://www.nhtsa.com 3rd...As far as I know, most vehicles do not need to be emission tested for the first five years in most emission tested areas. As far as I know, all manufacturers make their service manuals available over the counter for all of their vehicles. If paying $200 for a service manual sounds unreasonable, remember, the dealership has to buy them just like everybody else. It's up to the customer to decide if buying a $200 manual is cost effective...however, a service manual is just a tool...you have to know how to use it...besides, $200 isn't that much for a tool (especially if you buy from the Snap-On truck). 4th...You can buy tools, manuals, computers, racks, machines, etc...but, you can't buy experience. Case in point...you can take your 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse to Joe's Auto to have them figure out why it doesn't start...a fuel pump and computer later it gets towed to a Mitsubishi dealership where a $13 dollar relay and 5 minutes fixes the problem because we've seen 1000 of them go bad. 5th...Mitsubishi (and other manufacturers) spend millions of dollars a year on training and distributing information to the dealerships...The dealers have to pay for the information, so why should a non-dealer get it for free? The real question is... Why doesn't KFC have to divulge their 11 secret herbs and spices? That's what I really want to know.
  19. Ok...I'm buying a set of Vortec heads from a 96 Chevy pick-em-up... At the moment I live in Maricopa County, AZ, which requires yearly emission testing...I've learned that the Vortec heads don't have the exhaust passages through them for the EGR... What's the best way to get an EGR onto the Vortec heads? Now, I will probably be moving to Oregon in the next few months, so it may not be an issue, but, I may need to figure out how to get it through emissions if need be... Any ideas or suggestions?
  20. Wow... Racer...hehe...you make it sound easy. I'm ready to go out and paint my car now!! Just kidding...seriously, though...I think that's a very good basic introduction to how to paint.
  21. Haha...yeah...I remember the good ole days when I would hear my Frank 4 (T04E/Mitsubishi housing) spool up through my 3" exhaust, 24"Griffen FMIC, and 3" intake... it was pure bliss.
