  1. Where do you find these! All of these are pictures I have not seen before. There are some good IMSA shots over on http://www.racingsportscars.com Every time I see a shot from Laguna Seca in the 70's I look to see if I am there as a skinny teen. No luck yet, even in the Can-Am books. I have a grainy picture of Mark Donahue, I took, posing while his crew changed an engine on the Panzer Porsches but no Z cars.
  2. My Z is autocross only but when it wasn't, I admit to some quick detours to avoid the tailpipe sniffers. They used to set up on a road to the race gas supplier by my house to catch the leaded high octane hot rods coming to fill up. So I guess my guilt is from past, not current transgresses.
  3. I saw the dreaded EPA van with multiple detectors set up on an on ramp near the Mather entrance to Hwy 50 this morning on my commute.
  4. Here is a northern California car that is 70's Mopar green.
  5. On my lowered 510 wagon years ago, every day after work I had the rear axle hitting the floorpan whenever I turned a hard right heading up a hill in San Francisco. It would not thunk over any other bumps. I ended up totaling the car before I tried to cure the problem so I am not sure which part of the axle was making contact.
  6. I don't remember the car, but Rick Hines ran a Fiero for awhile and resurfaced recently with a ZO6 'vette. I still look off at the exit for the fairgrounds as I drive from Sacramento to Silicon Valley and dream of days gone by with fewer rules and no decibel limits. If you have anymore pics from the days of yore I would love to see them before you delete them.
  7. If this year's Z convention was the 17th, it was 13 years ago. I autocrossed a 510 and an orange Z in the 80's at Pleasanton and go back to the 70's as a teenage spectator not believing I was that close to racing Corvettes, sports cars and even Pinto's which did suprisingly well when set-up correctly. And here is a time warp. Do you remember "the Box", a mod car with bodywork resembling, well a.....box?
  8. Here is a pic I took at the 4th Annual Z convention in Pleasanton, Ca. Thanks RacerX for posting your bud's pictures of the black Primadonna. There aren't many out there.
  9. Henrik, I hope you don't mind but I wanted to see what your roofline would look like on my car. I luv it, want it. Now to figure out how to fit in it. Maybe a sunroof with me looking out the top.
  10. O.K...so who's in on a group buy and shipment of Peugeot 309 windshields? Oh wait, I am 6'4"....never mind. This is the cleanest looking profile I have seen on a Z, I think even better than convertibles. I love your airdam mock-up also.
  11. It is the Shelby GR-1 unveiled at Monterey. http://www.autoweek.com/
  12. Not only do I think you have the best looking Z around, Ford is trying unsuccessfully to copy you, Terry. Send them some pics so they will do it right.
  13. This is really a question for John Coffey since he has accomplished this. Do you have pictures of your engine mounts and also, how much of the corner under the accelerator did you chop off to clear your headers? Any pictures? (I have the same headers).
  14. My first two cars were Corvairs. A '65 Corsa and a '66 Monza. I wrapped the first one around a tree on a mountain road. I alway's dreamed of the Chevy V-8 mid engine conversion which was popular in the 70's. Pulling along-side one when I was a teenager, I actually talked the guy into giving me a ride after he heard my enthusiasm for V-8 'vairs. It had the engine cover off of the 327 with 2 four barrel carbs sucking air behind our heads. Pretty cool stuff for a teenager. Not as radical as your friend's car though.
  15. Check this thread out. http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=28508&highlight=center+bore
  16. I was thinking of something similar. Using the "bumpsteer" aluminum spacers under the strut. Drill under the strut and out the side of the spacer. Then find some 90 degree transition like what is used in 90 degree drills. The reason I am interested in 8611 strut inserts is I want to run a stiffer spring for autocross than what John Coffey says is in the range of the 8610. I need to call Eric and see if I am headed in the right direction.
  17. The 8610 folks are using is at 187 in compression and a rebound range of 187 to 425. Go to http://www.koni-na.com/pdfcatalogs/KONIMotosportCatalog.pdf and look at pages 9-11. Adjustment of rebound is discussed at http://www.koni-na.com/roadracing.html I am not speaking from experience, just what I have read. I am interested if your 8611's work out how you adjust the fronts. I have yet to call Eric Messley to get "The Word"
  18. 3 piece Panasport C8 16x12 with 5 inch backspacing (coilovers). I will run 11.5" slicks on them. If the offset proves to be too much, I will shrink them to 16x10.
  19. Yes, it was my street car and became autocross only since my project orange car is taking so long. The green car is apart now as I will be moving the drivetrain to this autocross car with the 280YZ body work from ztrix.com
  20. These are older 15x8 2 piece racing wheels like Andy Craig had on his championship FP autocross car. The 2 pieces are glued together! There are 4 small bolts added to later models of this wheel to apease safety concerns. I have retired these wheels at the advice of a racing shop. I think they are called "Wheel Specialties". Like Panasports, these are knock offs of the mini-lite wheel.
  21. Hi Doug and Auxilary. I have been on vacation so I did not see this. Yes, that is Ellen Degeneres. I am a television videographer and every once in awhile I get to work with famous folks. My latest fun trip was to Germany to shoot a show for the National Geographic Channel on the Autobahn. I got to see some of the Audi factory, meet the Rufs of RUF Porsche fame and see their shop and do some ride alongs with the German Polizei. "Der Cops". I have decided German beer is a food group of it's own.
  22. I am the one with the most facial hair. Can't vouch for Ellen's body hair.
  23. Yes. They are molded from a race car.
  24. Here is a quick explanation on what I did with my cars. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7599
  25. Godzilla over on ZDriver.com had a new pair he was selling at the Rio Vista meet. I think he was asking $500 for the pair then.
