  1. I had a private invite to the casting call. so i overnighted parts and finished the car in two days haha (it helped that everyone i know said i couldn't make it). only got about 4 hours of sleep but it was fun never the less. another way of looking at this is that if this does go thru, there should be tons of after market parts for our cars. who knows maybe someone will make s30 chassis (or something that resembles it) like they do with the old muscle cars.
  2. well i guess since everyone knows already. yes the car is going to be in the movie. Suppose to be some Dominican republic race scene. The car does run, and drive, but im still working out the bugs. Start filming at the end of this month. Although im not a fan of the Fast and Furious sequence, this does look like a fun opportunity so im def jumping on it. As far as z cars value going up? idk. they might. so buy a few haha.
  3. sorry but i didnt understand that part from the tech manual. So i should just try to find an aftermarket tuner to do this?
  4. well im an idiot. the big wire in the back was loose. thanks guys. btw went for a drive today....my god, what a feeling. thing pulls like no other.
  5. I just had my pcm reprogrammed and it requires a crank position relay (people i had tune it said i should do it because i gave the a truck 5.6 pcm instead of a 5.7). THey said the tune would still work but require a crank position relearn. SO i take it to TWO local dealers and they are scared to touch the car because its not a chevy. My question is there someone locally (orange county, California) who can do this for me? im looking for either a shop or someone who has a Diy programmer who can do a crank position relearn without reflashing the pcm. can anyone help? im pretty much screwed without it.
  6. hey bartman i hooked it up that way and the light never comes on but it has power going thru it.
  7. sent an email to speartech: this is the response. Speartech wrote: What you are reading is completely wrong. 12 volts on the red wire will destroy the regulator inside the alternator. You would need to check continuity of the red wire from the alt. connector back to the PCM connector (PCM RED 15). If that is good the problem is either with the computer or other wiring on your car. John Speartech Fuel Injection Systems, Inc. www.speartech.com -------------------------------------------------- thing is that when i have it pluged into the pcm like instructed the alternator doesn't hold its charge. what else could be wrong? i alt is brand new.
  8. i poured down water/coolant into the return. that solved that problem. but my alt still wont charge. heres the thread. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=130058
  9. Just finished my swap just recently and while driving the car died and wouldnt start. I later found out my alternator wasnt charging. Thinking it was the alternator i switch it out for a new one. same thing happens. the car wont keep charge. i have one of those battery chargers/testers that tells if the alternator is charging and it says it isnt. It has only one wire that goes on top of the alternator (small red wire). after some reading i found out that this is the exciter wire that should have 12vs. it doesn't. anyone know whats wrong here? any help is appreciated. oh yea its an ls1 from a 2002 camaro ss.
  10. i let it idle with the cap off the radiator. read thats how its done at ls1 tech. im pretty sure theres no air left in the system. i thought it was the thermostat because the return hose was cool to the touch but the inlet hose was hot.
  11. mario i check the wires with a test light and they are all have 12v. i ran the fan straight from a switch right now. (its on slow, then when i flip the switch its on high). but the car still ran very very hot. so i check the radiator fluid and its full. so i thought maybe its the thermostat. so i changed that. its still overheating. the guy had who did the programming, said that i had sent him a truck pcm instead of a camaro one (i had been lied to by some guy on ebay), he said it would still work but i would need to take it to the gm dealer to get a "crank position relearn". im thinking this is why i have my overheating problem right now. right now, im just not feeling happy about the z at all. everything that can go wrong, seems to. oh and to make it worse my line lock failed and my z rolled down a hill into a metal gate...... this is just not my week....
  12. just got the pcm back. car starts and runs ok. Im having some issues wiring my fan relay though. Im using a two speed fan out of a mazda. On the speartech harness there are four wires (2 secondary wires, 2 primary wires) that control the fans. The primary and secondary fan wires(or speeds in my case becuase im using one fan) go to a relay each connecting on terminals "85" and "86" but where do the rest of the wires go (coming our of the relay)? i saw the schematics and don't understand it. (i tried wording this problem the best i can). i called the f*****s at speartech but they don't believe in picking up the phone or answering emails. sorry guys, wiring is not my thing. any help is appreciated.
  13. i guess that should work then. i guess that only applies to turbo cars then (i think i read the 02 sensor placement in a turbo motor thread). anywho looks great.
  14. has anyone seen a service manual for the ls1 online?
  15. yea steve supplies msa. he put it in his other thread.
  16. isn't that 02 sensor too close to the header? i thought if they were to close they wouldn't last long or something. theres a certain distance they should be at ive read the measurement somewhere but cant remember where.anybody know?
  17. i ended up just welding a brace in like myron did. looks great. ill try and get a pic up soon.
  18. just got off the phone with him told me it would be $75 +10 for shipping to do all that stuff and a performance tune. not bad.
  19. anyone use these? http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=DBL%2DU7198&N=700+4294908395+4294906189+4294908216+4294840140+4294782477+115&autoview=sku doesn't mention anything about removing o2 sensors thou.
