  1. Yeah, I think I'm going to attempt the DIY retumble on my doors. I just moved to a new shell and have have a key that matches the hatch and ignition but not the doors, so this seems like a perfect project for me.
  2. I've got a couple of old Solex PHH 44's that definitely need a really good cleaning. I'd really like to let them go as a set though. Here's a thread with pictures. PM me if you're interested. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/103560-solex-44-identification/
  3. Having used those I can say the spring rates are very high and the ride was pretty harsh. I pretty much halved the spring rates when I redid the suspension on mine.
  4. Looks like the prices went up a little with the price of steel, but that sounds right. I know this is an old comment but I'm pretty sure that if your rails were in decent shape you'd be OK to leave them, especially if this is for chassis stiffening on a clean car rather than a rust repair. I know more than a few members on here who have done just that.
  5. Great deal especially for the Northeast. Welcome.
  6. The front of mine is the semi-gloss black Nissan paints their new fenders.

    Stunning 6

    Naturally aspirated rb26.
  8. In college I ran the machine shop at night. So many people did this and jumped belts off of the lathes that I welded springs to all of the keys.
  9. Based on this threadsomewhere in the 500lb range. That actually sounds a little high to me, as I was able to drag a rusty shell around by myself and could pick it up, a half at a time, while others put jackstands under it. But I didn't weigh it so maybe I'm just stronger than I think
  10. Hey all. This is a silly question I know, but I don't have a thread gauge handy and the thread on the headlight bucket is finer than anything home depot offers. I had some rusty headlight bucket studs and so I need to order new nuts for the studs. Does anyone know offhand what thread those nuts are so I can order some from McMaster. I searched and couldn't find any info. Thanks guys.
  11. It runs! From my list last time: the tank is in the center console is at least figured out (I had to bend the shifter pretty drastically to get it to clear the early center console). Passenger seat is in. Hatch glass is mounted. Proportioning valve is plumbed and brakes are bled. MSA Fuse box is in. Also here's some trivia for you. many of the barrel connectors in later cars are spade connectors in the very early 240z's... Some of the trim is in. In other news the SPAL fan is in, and the clutch is operational if in need of adjustment. More details and videos here http://southbronxspeedshop.blogspot.com/2012/03/31212-it-lives.html
  12. This car came to one of the NYZCC meets. 400hp SR20 plus a nitrous setup he had never used. 205 tires and stock brakes. He said he had traction problems in 4th. Scary stuff.

    What ITB

Don't forget the 54 direct injected Mercedes 300sl
  14. If the car isn't rusty 1900 for a runner doesn't sound too bad. Since you're in Cali I'll assume it isn't too badly rotted. As a commuter you're gonna be making some compromises as compared to a Miata. If I recall correctly, the tops on those are more emergency tops rather than something to be used everyday. I'm sure they're pretty reliable, but the difficulty in getting replacement parts makes them a bit less suited to commuting duty. I'm a little biased as I love my little Miata.
  15. It would have to be a pretty small and unimportant child to ride in that. Brake hard and the kid would be through the windshield.
  16. I think you're right, they're both Celica lights, but the black one is a Z32 300zx.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that ~300lbft is about as much torque as any NA 3.2l is making. Off the top of my head I can't think of any even modern engine making more. That works out to a BMEP of 223psi or 15.3 bar! If those numbers are correct that's outrageous. Those are top level, big money racing engine numbers(which I suppose makes sense because this, to my dismay, is likely a big money engine...) That said, 289lbft at 8000rpm works out to more than 420hp.
  18. This actually reminded me of another headlight conversion I saw. Z32 with celica headlights. I really liked this one.
  19. As always, more power to someone building something they love, but I gotta say that detail under the light wrapping around looks unfinished.
  20. Yeah, they harden quite a bit over time. I just replaced mine because it was cracked. It had hardened so much I had to cut it out of the car. I can't imagine trying to stretch that hardened plastic/rubber over the filler neck.
  21. Wow, I wouldn't expect the cable to flatten the roof like that.
  22. Haha, I'll throw a quick one up. As I've mentioned here before, I'm losing my shop so I need to get the car done ASAP. I sectioned the struts Installed the struts, springs and brakes in the front. Installed the carpet. RT diff mount Rear struts bushings etc Rear Brakes Engine. Hey look, It's EvilC! Fenders and wheels. Details List of what's left to do: Fuel tank Center console passenger seat hatch glass Proportioning valve fuse box misc trim
  23. Now BMW is putting their turbos there, and reversing the flow of the engine. Nice packaging!
