  1. Lower the spring perch. From what you say you're not running any preload right now anyway.
  2. If I'm seeing the pictures right, you welded a threaded insert onto the stock strut tube after cutting it and now the new strut body contacts the cut end of the OE strut tube. I wouldn't cut and reweld anything. I don't think you've got much to gain, and I'd want at least 5cm of tube inside the new insert anyway. It looks like you've still got an inch or so to lower the spring perch before you run out of travel. After that, I suppose you could get rid of the lock ring and lock the spring perch against the black strut lock ring. How much travel do these struts have and where are you in their travel? Are they solid to the bottom or could length be trimmed there?
  3. Temporary wheels until the ones I really want are in stock. I needed something that would clear my wilwoods as I'm losing my shop soon. These are 16' Rotas with 205 tires on them that I got a great deal on from a friend of a friend. Once they are available, I will be getting 17x8.5 +4 Rb-R's with gold spokes. These look great for now though! [Edit] My pic was way too large!
  4. With the 3099's in the front, you can either section the struts to fit the length of the insert, or you can add a spacer to make the insert fit the stock length of the strut.
  5. Hey, I just wanted to let you know I'm still interested in the covered panels. I don't want you to be discouraged, but since I have to get speakers, a power window kit, and the panels I have to save a bit. Also I had a random question. Do those armrests/handles bolt into the door frame?
  6. I DD'd my old 240 for 5 years, but even then I had a 'snow' car. I had a 95 Mazda 323 hatch that picked up for $500 to get around in after the first snowfall. If you like your car you won't drive around on salt.
  7. That's too bad, I ordered mine from ebay member goodygarage on the 4th and got them reasonably quickly.
  8. Hey Joe good buddy ol' pal. I may need one as well...
  9. My only experience with spools has been in karts, but considering the lack power they had and the grip levels they were generating they certainly were very lively in the corners. I'd think it would be a lot of fun in a track car, but I personally will be saving for an LSD. Off topic I know, but didn't the Miata have slightly more power and less weight than the AE86? And as a NA Miata owner, I don't think either of those cars have real traction issues beyond first gear, haha.
  10. That's a good way to think of it. You could either pay $1k a month for a new Corvette lease, or put that money into building something truly special.
  11. Haha, learn something new every day. I had no idea about that!
  12. If the windows go down with the remote this is the first I'm hearing of it. They do move down a quarter of an inch every time you open the door to clear the rain gutter, though.
  13. This is the second turbine powered 280zx I've seen. The first one was a maroon car with the exhausts sticking out of the hood that made the rounds a few years back. Both are pretty impressive but I'd like to see one run in person.
  14. So I left my car parked at my Mom's house in Newark, NJ for one night and it got broken into. There are some strange details about it that I was hoping to get some answers on. First, they seem to have popped the drivers side lock with a screwdriver or something. That's pretty straightforward I guess. The strange thing is that both windows were down when I found the car. Now the drivers side makes a loud clunk halfway through it's travel and the passenger side won't go up at all. I'm dealing with the insurance now, but I'm wondering a few things. The ignition doesn't seem like it's been tampered with at all. How did they get the windows down in the first place? If they simply forced them down into the car, why did they do both sides? Does anyone have any insight?
  15. Also for the wear, my coil over sleeves came with a Soft plastic bit that moves with the adjuster and fits snugly in the spring, keeping it from rubbing the sleeve. The white plastic bit below.
  16. A couple of comments here. First, he seems to be getting a decent amount of steering angle out of the car. I don't know if it's got a stock IFS but he seems to be able to catch pretty high angles. Second, these guys really need to keep it on the track or at least the warehouse parking lots they started out in. I'm all for having fun, but going sideways in the oncoming lane is a bit much.
  17. This makes me sad because I'm losing my shop in a few weeks but I'll post mine. I got ahold of this place because my friend's family owned the building. There was going to be a laundromat in our space, but the family was working on a development deal on the property to build an apartment complex, so they bought out their lease. Once the economy turned, the money for the development fell through, so we got the space since they didn't know when they would be able to finance it again. Here are some pics of what we had and what we did with it. Unfortunately I found out two weeks ago that they money came through and the whole place is getting knocked down in March. It was fun while it lasted, and we're looking for the next place.
  18. I meant questions like what clutch/throwout bearing/ flywheel are you using. I've seen cad files for adapters but haven't seen what other components people use to finish the conversion.
  19. A 2+2 parts car that EvilZ picked up also had it molded in. I had never seen that done before.
  20. Wow, man. You have the worst luck. I don't really have any helpful information on the insurance side. I just had to give you my condolences after the SECOND accident where your car was stationary in about as many days.
  21. You're going to need to trim the fenders and inner wheel wells when you install the flares. If you search there are many guides for this.
  22. Particularly one that has readily available replacement and aftermarket parts. Need a head? Pick up a wrecked Hayabusa for peanuts. To find NA power/weight ratios similar to that you have to start looking at companies like Judd, but they are much pricier. If I were building a no holds barred lightweight car that would be at the top of my list.
