  1. I wouldn't think there would be much space for an extended top hat in the front of a Z, certainly not enough to limit droop significantly. Hell, the McKinney guys can barely get an adjustment knob under the hood...
  2. here's Jmortensen's setup http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/89478-making-droop-limiters/
  3. The newish Powerstroke has it on the exhaust side as well. They've got different funky layout on the compressor side with two compressor housings essentially stacked. http://www.dieselpowermag.com/features/ford/0910dp_ford_6_7l_powerstroke_diesel_engine/photo_07.html
  4. Awesome time! That's movin! Out of curiosity, you said it's the stock R200, but do you have an LSD or did you weld it? Or is that with an open rear?
  5. That thread has the one I was thinking of linked in it... I posted it, haha. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?showtopic=23729
  6. Sick. Let me know when you're working this week and I'll stop by.
  7. Somewhere, long ago I saw a writeup about this. If I remember correctly, they snapped the body line on the car and traced it with marker, then drew a series of 1" long vertical lines along it and sanded diagonally from above and below the line until the vertical lines had been sanded away to meet the body line. I may not have done a good description of that, but maybe someone can find that writeup.
  8. Yeah I had the dual spring. The secondary spring is really just there to keep the pretty short main spring on from rattling when the suspension droops. The coils were pretty much bound at ride height. I was on the street as well, it was really too stiff at least for me. Certainly too stiff for the Tokico HP's I was running. Now I'm running illumina's on sectioned struts with single 10" springs using those sleeves.
  9. I've always used paypal. Frankly, if someone is an established member here I have no worries about buying from them. I wouldn't be too worried about getting ripped off, especially if they've sold things here before and have a good reputation. Maybe I'm a little too trusting, but I haven't been bitten by it yet. Just my $.02
  10. I had them. The spring rates are very high. Sleeves are sleeves as far as I'm concerned, but I ended up ordering some 10" springs in 225/250lbin rates.
  11. I used POR-15. I found if you're good about prep and using the etcher they sell then the bond is super strong.
  12. It varies per wheel type, offset, spacers etc. I know there are guys who have run them, but I also know the 15" turbo wheels I had lying around would not clear.
  13. He converted it to RWD using the AWD bellhousing on the z31 turbo trans mentioned above.
  14. And Jalopnik! I saw it but didn't recognize it as yours! http://jalopnik.com/5921062/a-lamborghini-aventador-battles-the-classics-in-the-mountains-of-japan
  15. Nice! That pic must be from a while ago, though. I spot many changes (wheel color, hatch, taillight panels)
  16. I had an interesting and relevant experience the other day. I was riding back to NYC from NJ on my motorcycle. It was around 8pm so there was no traffic, but all of a sudden the traffic flow was going 45mph in a 55. Eventually I saw what was causing the holdup: A pack of VERY low 'hellaflush' cars in the slow/middle lane with their hazards on, presumably because they couldn't handle the admittedly poor sections of highway at any speed faster than 45. Now I'll admit they look cool in pictures, but that must be a pain.
  17. Interestingly enough, that seems to be the direction they're going next year. http://www.imotortimes.com/articles/1729/20120618/2014-le-mans-rule-changes.htm
  18. After watching this year's Le Mans and seeing the disappointing DNF of the Delawing, I was curious what people here thought of the car. Personally, I LOVE the fact that people are thinking way outside the box and finding new ways to go fast. The fact that this thing turned LMP2-competitive lap times it's first time out at Le Mans is pretty impressive to me. Especially considering it uses a lot less fuel and tire. (though, it does weigh half as much and has a better hp/weight ratio) All in all, I like seeing new things on the track.
  19. I'd think of it like this. Pretty much anyone can balance a broom on a finger with the head of the broom in the air. The effective moment is very high so the reaction of the broom to perturbation is relatively slow. This means you don't have to correct very quickly to keep it balanced Remove the broom head and try balancing just the broom shaft and it gets more difficult. This is because you've reduced the moment and now these angular changes happen much more quickly. You need a much faster hand to keep the broom upright. That's sort of the issue here. Reduce the moment and the car will want to rotate more quickly, which is good if you're a driver good/experienced enough to catch it, but if not it can make the car feel nervous or twitchy at the limit. Obviously there are many many more factors in the case of a car, but I think that's a decent way to picture the effect of MOI alone.
  20. Not even a hint of fade on my 12.2" 's on the track. I have the 1" wilwood and it feels great. I know EvilC has the same setup with way more power (400+whp LSX) and much bigger tires and I don't think he's had any trouble, even on brake heavy tracks like watkins glen. That said, if there's ever a place to go overboard it's the brakes...
  21. I've got something pretty similar that I got on ebay a number of years back. The spring rates that came with mine were pretty high, so I ended up swapping out the springs for some 200/225's from summit. As far as I'm concerned, unless you're changing ride height all the time, sleeves are sleeves.
  22. Sure, though I suppose since he's using the Subie subframe the front he's halfway there, hehe.
  23. You guys are always building crazy stuff. I want to work in your shop! haha
