  2. Maybe not mandrel bent? And is the magna flo straight thru? I hate an open down pipe. Stinks, and loud.
  3. Just run 110 leaded, mix with your 93 octane, and look out.
  4. Speaking from experience, a BLOMASTER on a turbo car is like dragging an anchor. You want a straight thru muffler, one of the least expensive is a Hooker Max flo, and they sound mean when you are on it.
  5. Tell me about it, you should see what came out of my tail pipe whent he head gasket let go saturday. I could have sure fixed anyone tailgating me though.
  6. I want to know why someone would argue the 280ZXT stuff is as good as the 300? I mean first and foremost, you get rid of the dang door on the AFM. The drivability improvement alone makes it worthwhile, but if you really look at it, don't you think sucking air thru and AFM with a door that is spring loaded is harder then sucking it thru a 70mm tube with a couple screens in it? I noticed a huge difference going to the Z31 stuff, ALA JWT, in all area's, especially boost response. More boost sooner equals more power. I am sure there are people with 280ZXT stuff who run good numbers, Scottymiz comes to mind, but no one has really pushed the envelope with the Z31 stuff, except people running JWT stuff. There is no comparison on the drivability improvement, and boost response, not to mention I don't have the dumb rpm point where the ecu switches over from 40% duty cycle on the injectors to 100, or whatever the numbers are. I also don't have the wonderful 6400 rpm rev limit either.
  7. Mine turned over like the timing was way advanced, or like it jumped time, I mean it sounded awful. Also I ran into the problem of it cutting off only when at idle for extended periods, it would run fine and drive fine, no matter what the temp, but idle it with the hood closed, and it did not take long. And it would stumble, and when you gave it gas it would spit back out the intake. NASTY. I am running without the O2 sensor, which usually affects your mileage more then anything else. I got 20 mpg last time the ZX was out for an extended period of time, in mixed driving, with a turbo trans and 3.90 gears. And while I don't spend a lot of time at full throttle, I still get into boost easily, and even did the ricer flyby on a honda driver who did it to me and thought it was funny. Little did he know, I did not even need full throttle.
  8. Anti-freeze??? You losing coolant? Tim may be on to something though, could be an additive in the gas, perhaps there has been a blend change or something.
  9. Have you added something to the fuel, ie octane boost, injector cleaner, that sort of thing? Octane boost usually makes things rusty colored, but that is the 104 brand, i don't know about others.
  10. I ordered mine yesterday, I figure while I am replacing the headgasket, and having the head worked, a new balancer would be nice. I will let you all know what I think when I get it.
  11. Yep, just pull the thing up, thread the bolt into the cam, and tighten, it should handle it no prob.
  12. Mine did that when the CAS was bad, of course mine was an 83, and in the dizz, and I replaced it with a 300ZX one. Does it turn over and sound like the timing is off? Thats what mine did, and I would have power everywhere I was supposed to, with no spark.
  13. Well I was thinking o-ring the head, but I think I like the idea of a 2mm metal HG with ARP studs. I mean after all, I do want to go fast, and I hate breaking. I don't know about hitting up Jeff, he has got to be broke after all that work he has been doing.
  14. Email Yo2001. Of course he is in ALABAMA, and he does have sort of a southern asian twang. I would just dispute the whole mess on your credit card. Box the thing up, send it back, and then dispute it, trust me your credit card will remove it. I usually only deal with Steve out there, he seems to know his stuff, the other people, I don't know. they made me a pretty smoking deal on my spearco, and he answered me promptly via email.

  16. After 6 years of 15+ psi, my stock headgasket gave up the ghost this weekend. ( Its Jeff P's fault for selling me this turbo ) Anyway, I can o-ring the head and run a stock gasket with ARP headstuds, or, run a metal headgasket with ARP head studs. Future plans call for a JWT dry NOS set-up, with pump and race gas programs, and I don't want to be taking this back apart. So lets make this a poll, turbo guys, lets hear opinions.
  17. I you let the muffler shop do it, unless you supply the mandrel bends, you will get crush bent pipe, which is like a 20 % restriction over mandrel. Do it yourself is cheap, but it is a pain. You know you can by a flux core welder for 200 bucks at home depot right?
  18. Actually make it 3 people who don't understand. You by your own admission don't know what you want to do. Until you decide, then no one can really offer you a valid opinion about what is best, IMO.
  19. Disc failures, and the hubs in the disc being in off center. I am telling you right now, there is no way there will ever be a spec clutch in my car. Some people have good luck with them, but I have never seen one so destroyed as the one they sold my friend for his GTO with a 6 speed. There was nothing left of the disc. He had their super duper whoopdy do clutch too, not just an OEM style replacement. And he was just driving it when it let go. Imagine what would have happened had he been on it. Get an ACT or something, and be done with it. Thats what I am going to do. I am running a stock 300ZXTT pressure plate on a redrilled flywheel with an 89 300ZXT disc, and it has worked fine so far, I think all my 12 second passes have been made on this clutch, with no problems. Considering my car is about 3150 with me in it, I would say that is pretty good, and I could always step up to a juiced 300ZXTT one from JWT that looks like the stocker, and not have to worry either.
