  1. I know the "hot setup" for the 350Z guys was always the 3.9 gears for the N/A 6-spd cars. At one point when the 350Z first came out there was a Nissan 3.7 offering but I don't think thats available anymore. What diff are you running in there right now? I think the 3.7 would be a happy medium of short gearing without being too short. http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?model=350z&cat=driveline&prodid=1726
  2. Maybe Nissan should just build the tranny like this from the factory.
  3. Here are two pictures I took of RB240Z's car at the Nissan 370Z event here in Chantilly, VA. He has 16 x 8 Rota RBR's with a +4 offset. No rolled fenders or flares. Lowered on Nissan Competition springs I believe. I think with only 17x8.5 wheels that they won't be wide enough. You should look into getting the group buy Rota RB-R's that are 17x9 and 17x9.5 if you are set on doing ZG flares.
  4. I drove my 350Z in around 15 degree temps here in DC a few times. I had wide 255/18 Falken Azenis on it which really do not like any temps under 42 degrees and they got hardly any traction at all below 30...it sucked.
  5. All of the surge tanks I've seen on ebay are from australia. Why is it that surge tanks are "common" knowledge or used more down there than here stateside?
  6. The auto 280ZX Turbo's came with an R200 and not an R180. I know this because I pulled my R200 from an '82 280ZX turbo automatic that I bought off a guy on craigslist for $400.
  7. Any justification as to why you say this? What is so bad about the T04B compressors that you should avoid them in favor of a T04E?
  8. You might want to check to see if your elbows and arms will clear when turning the wheel if you extend the steering shaft out any further.
  9. How many months is a few months? I have a friend that has an STi diff and shafts...but they are spares for his rally car and may need them at any time.
  10. You could attempt to create something of your own with some bolts and some injected urethane. I am stiffening my stock Z engine mounts with 3M window-weld urethane by hollowing the rubber parts out and squeezing the urethane in.
  11. Hell, does anyone even do the LED taillight conversion anymore? I'd be willing to ship someone some taillights (thats done it before) and pay a reasonable amount to have them converted. I know Pallnet used to and a guy from ClassicZcars.com used to also. I wish we could get a groupbuy for some LED taillights from some chinese knockoff company that sells them on ebay but there would probably be nowhere near enough demand. EDIT: Just found this link: http://cincitydesigns.com/ - I'm going to contact him to ask a price.
  12. If you look at the first pic (the one off of MM's website) you can see that they are not rearward in that picture.
  13. I wish I had the cash to drop on something like this right now: http://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/932940121.html ...I have nothing to do with the seller, just saw it and thought some of you guys might be interested in seeing it or buying. "1977 Datsun A10 w/ L20b engine Race Car" with about a 70% complete restoration and a fresh motor and spares according to the ad. Is $2000 a good deal for what he is selling?
  14. You can also order similar coilovers and choose your rates from Techno-Toy Tuning: http://www.technotoytuning.com/productdetail.php?p=582 I haven't personally used either but I think the upper hat design for the TTT coilovers is better than the GC upper hat. The TTT ones also use the same springs GC does. TTT also sells needle bearings if you use camber plates: http://www.technotoytuning.com/products/upper_hat.html.
  15. Were you able to carry more speed into/through corners with the wider tires? On my 350Z I noticed a big difference in the cars ability to accelerate out of a corner earlier when I switched from 235/45/17-FR - 245/45/17 RR to 245/40/18 FR - 255/40/18 RR. Both sets of tires were falken azenis. The 17"s were the '03 enthusiast wheels and the 18"s were the '03 rays track wheels.
  16. Thats not a fair comparison at all. Saying that Nissan transmissions "shift better" is a pretty big generality. The 350Z tranny has nice shift action but they also munch 5th gear like its their job among many other issues...and I still prefer the shift feel that most Hondas have. The problem with the Nissan T5, I have heard is the horrible shifter design. If you switch to a mustang short shifter (B&M/summit/etc.) then it loses its horrible feel and vagueness. This makes sense to me...I mean look at the poor design of the nissan shifter, its just a straight rod...even the Nissan Competition shifters for the "b" 5 speeds had an S curve to it.
  17. I would first use the search function.
  18. I don't know whats up with that but I do know that I was kinda annoyed to spend $150 on some bolts and get a photocopied instruction sheet that was cut out crooked. I think they could do a little bit better.
  19. I don't understand why you would want to mount these in your car rather than the factory seat belts. If you are going to get harnesses get some 5 or 6 points...otherwise I just don't understand the advantage or need for these Sparco belts. Where were you mounting the rear belt attachment to?
  20. You should probably think about having someone else work on it if this is a serious question. Yes you replace just the bulb...it is probably just corroded into its socket or maybe you haven't tried twisting?
  21. I read it weights 95lbs less than an '03 enthusiast model which brings it in right at around 3100lbs.
  22. Just want to give you some props on one of the nicest looking S130's I've ever seen.
  23. I would switch to an electric fan anyway. Less drag on the engine and it is nowhere near as loud. They are also nice because you can have it on a seperate switch and run it after you've shut the car off.
  24. http://cheapturbo.stores.yahoo.net/ Has really nice turbos for a pretty good price. Just don't buy an ebay turbo thats made in china and only costs like $150...those are complete junk and you will regret wasting your money.
  25. I ordered a generic "GTR" intercooler off of ebay for $89.99 and the one I received said Godspeed on it and seems to be pretty good quality (obviously you aren't going to get a Spearco for that price).
