I was going to say, I hope they last you a long long long long long long time at $400 a piece.

I have yet to achieve a questionable title on this board. Disappointment has ensued. Reckless driving and overdue fines seem to run a muck on here... and you wonder why! Light cars and lovely cheap horsepower from broke pockets = tickets = too lazy to pay them or don't have money to pay them = jailbird.

These old motors are too good to us. You know that, boys? We beat them down way to much. Haha
-
Wait a second, I had a dude say he could install my MSnS and intercooler piping blah blah blah get it all ready to go that was in Houston, about 2 years ago when I was new here. My nonchalant "weird" response has now become o_O thats crazy.

dad is real good about giving credit to the right people. He's a straight business/shop owner, won't do anything disrespectful or whatever. The people that try to make jokes of us tend to come back apologizing later on for being wrong. For instance a guy had a blown rear end, had Dad rebuild it, then a blew up again. The cause was from an oil splash plate breaking off so the top end of the diff wasn't getting any oil. The guy goes about trying to make us look like fools and Jeff, the other British auto guy (who dad use to work for and started up the Caterham dealership with him), is sitting there laughing about how "Ed finally screwed up". The guy then goes to a different dude, rebuilt it, the dude tells the guy that Dad did nothing wrong with the diff and built it as strong as it is suppose to be. Thus the reputation of a shop owner is saved and an apology from angry wrong customer has been received. Funny how those things work.

Those numbers don't quite sound believable anyway but thats me being prejudice to the murderer, not the hybridz member. Because apparently, they're two separate entities in my head.

His pictures make it look like he has to pinch a huge loaf, man. Haha Oh and by the way. That forum, perfect example of why we have a limit to signature picture size... Looks like he owned a lot of toys I guess. Z, bike, what else?
-
Wait, joke or not joke... HybridZ non-tech section confuses me. If so, thats kinda weird.

Ah, so thats what happens when you race a motor without a balancer
josh817 replied to josh817's topic in Non Tech Board
Yah dude, I saw a clip where this dude asked for 8 lengths, beat the guys. Then they come back to negotiate for the second race and he asks for 13 lengths and everyone is standing there going dude.... you just beat us by 4 lengths... His reasoning was "I was spinning the whole time". Everyone was still baffled with how ridiculous he was. He looked like a guido too. -

I think what surprised me was how quickly the motor blew but then again they are beating those things up each pass. -

^ Another hilarious clip. I'll look on youtube. Its part of the PINKS tv show where the dudes balancer comes off and he races anyway... http://videos.streetfire.net/video/PINKS-Got-Balancer_204414.htm ^Google search provides. I still don't know why everyone went nutso about it. Why not just put it back on and do it again instead throwing a fit? -
Because that just makes you a big stroke L28 pretty much. Its kind of like why not get a 350sbc and going crazy on it. Well... They have other blocks that you can just start out with rather than trying to make a certain block go insano. But I guess if you wanted something unique thats the way to go. L24 with 87mm bores and 83mm stroke I think the V03 is..? Like I said, big stroke 1mm over bored L28 pretty much. And you can't beat the tech inspection guys. They baffle me with all their little tools to tell them engine specs. I flag dragged with some guy that did Porsche motors and he said with those things you can have them pump 3L when in tech but actually be like a 3.2L or something crazy like that. Don't think we have that luxury.
-
OR Maybe 4mm or .160" over...... Just kidding, don't do that to an L24.

The bmw is already out of the rules it was meant for cvar so we have the giant dcoe's, giant cam, high comp, all sorts of crap. Oh and we sold everything which would help us make weight requirements. CVAR does like a 1.13 x displacement = weight requirement and it comes out to be like 2300lbs... Thats like stock 2002 weight! So we said forget it, we're taking the points hit for weight but because its actually a '68 1602 with a 2002 motor so we weigh in at some retarded feather weight. If you're going to break the rules, atleast make it worth something right? All the bmw's run in the back except for one thats way up there with the CP 240z! Dad bought the Midget because it has a full record book and also raced with my grandpa up in the north east. Came with a ton of complete Ford flat head 60 motors, quick change rear ends, etc. Only problem is that neither of us can fit in it without unbolting the steering wheel... So I told him if he decided to run it in CVAR and he crashed he would have to wait for someone with a 3/8" socket and ratchet to come along before we could pull him out. Or just weight until his legs burned off. >_> Oh and Dad kinda poopoo'd my ITS idea because he's so hell bound on saying SCCA is too political. Too large and too political. He did SVRA and I think thats large too so you know, whatever. Ignore the grumpy wise one for now.

Woo, now have a race license :)

For some reason I can see a heat blanket working really well as in like you're able to touch the part that faces the carb. Maybe I'm going insano. -

Aluminum is a conductor, works but then again once it gets hot, it doesn't. Already went through this argument between Dad and I and some dudes who were obsessed about saving weight. We have a guy laser cut stainless heat shields for our carbs. -
Haha! I don't do drugs and alcohol isn't my thing unless its something hard and then I only drink a little before I become a noob and it feels like I'm breathing fumes and like someone punched me in the gut. I'm known as the car dude at school so people know who I am but its Keller. When these teens have their cars wrecked or if something is wrong, mom and dad are there to swoop down and wisp them off their feet and take it to some local Quick Lube where they charge for **** that isn't broken. No one is independent in Keller it seems like. I tried to help out a hot friend of mine and she was all open to it except she was told to wait for her dad to get home and I know he is the type that I just described so its like whatever dude. I have some buddies that go to the track and waste their clutches and I said I could probably change it out for them for way less than a local shop. Even though I don't work on the newer cars its pretty simple to just grab a Haynes manual and read it if you have the tools to do the job. Anyways I posted in Braaps thread a little while ago since he posted some ITS racing videos. This brought in a new idea which is basically, force yourself into learning the cool stuff by joining an ITS group so in order to win, you have to learn the "secret" trick **** in order to make good power out of a pretty stock motor. Like Sunbelt did. Plus I would love to go racing and win on a budget, or get close to winning. Its all floating in the air right now. I don't want to ditch the BMW project because right now its an unfinished project so we can'teven sell it really. Some incite of what we do I guess.. Racing is in the family grampa, dad, and myself. Dad doesn't like pictures, thus we only have one from CVAR but he did TR6 enduro's and stuff: Personal cars we've restored: And like ten zillion more, he goes through them like its some sort of food. Our race cars now along with the old shop and customer cars that Dad and I have restored for them: Thats all I have I guess until I remember to bring my camera to the new shop. Sorry for 56k users, if they are still around anymore that is. We're having an open house for the new shop sometime in June. Attworth, I'm dragging you along and anyone else who feels like coming is welcome too. I'll get specifics sometime soon.

If nothing has been done to the headers like a wrap or ceramic coat then thats a biggy too. I have my headers coated with a silver ceramic which polishes out. Drops the temperature way way down and is also a god rust prevention. Just got a second set done so if you need a 6-1 coated header with a 3 bolt flange welded on then you could buy mine I do suppose. As Dad always put it, heat shields are like condoms. The problem is still there but you're just preventing it from causing trouble. Ceramic coat is like abstinence. haha -
What do we think of the Remington 7xx guns and a .270 round?
josh817 replied to josh817's topic in Non Tech Board
Yes I'm just saying if I ever had the urge to shoot something nutso, well then there you go! I'd like to think a handgun would have more purpose than me buying a rifle, but I don't like thinking the only purpose is self defense which means shooting someone. I'm sure in the rush of the moment I could pull the trigger but thinking about it without the adrenaline pumping is a ****ty thought. So really I'm not sure which I would get. A rifle seems like more gun for the buck seeing how the nice handguns are in the same price range as the rifles I'm looking at. -

josh817 replied to josh817's topic in Non Tech Board
Yah I'm poopooing the 770 I just looked at last night now. Reviews said the bolt is a little sloppy and sticky and it shoots alright and that sounds like something I would want because the gun is just to go out to the range and play around. My sisters fiance is one of those cowboy sort of types and he has access to some land that you can do whatever on, good for long range fun. I'll hit up the pawn shop later on. My buddy is now flip flopping between guns since he can buy a p35 from his dad. If I go to the range I want someone to horse around with damnit! Oh well. Also, the Accutip .270 WSM rounds are firing at 3200-3300fps :] Close enough to 4000 eh. -

Nevermind, just read about it and heard it was ♥♥♥♥ all over. Then again, not really looking for anything serious but when people say the gun won't group, I have a problem. Time to look into some other stuff but please, lets still discuss the .270 as I am still highly interested in it. Edit: Ah shucks, for $250 I can get a 770 .30-06 and a scope. It clicks and rattles and the bolt isn't silky smooth but hey, I'm not looking to be a sniper I'm just looking for a fun gun that packs a little umph. Don't know if I want that .30-06 though... Even more ah shucks is that for $375 I can get a nice wood stock 721 .30-06 with scope. So really its like, 770 and get a heavier barrel and a bipod with extra money, or 721. 770 seems like one of those teen toy guns and I'm not sure if I like that.. All these videos I see are of like some 14 year old who just got his mangy hands on a gun he doesn't really know how to use just yet. Then again, not looking to be too serious. I'll just wait until I sell my stuff and base my purchase off of that. Or maybe just stay out of the gun world because I'm having one of those man moments... -
I can obtain one if I get my paintball stuff out for a good price. Don't play anymore and as long as my guns fund guns I'm cool with that rather than dipping into my precious Z money. I have a simple Ruger 10/22 that I received for my 16th birthday. Pretty much family tradition. I'm not big on guns but I'd like to have one hand gun, the 10/22, and then one serious business rifle. Not really liking anything past .300 because they start to get a bit expensive. At least with the 10/22 I can buy 2 bricks of 100 rounds for under $30 have a nice day at the range. I can either buy a hand gun later or just wait for Dad to pass down his. I believe he has some sort of black powder revolver, Ruger Standard Model 22LR, Thompson Contender with no cool barrels , Colt .45 Gold Cup, and his first 10/22. My buddy is looking into an Enfield since they're so cheap and he likes the larger calibers, if you call .303 large. I like the gun, hate how it loads, hate the ballistics of the rounds, and hate how its a .303 and costs $30 for 20 rounds I think he said. I know a .270 won't be much cheaper if at all but I can get a new Remington 715 cheaper than the Enfield, still bolt action, and shoots some good ranges. The .270 seems to be a good moderate round whether I do varmint or deer hunting, although I don't hunt at all a gun is a life time investment so maybe I'll change my mind. I WOULD choose a .17 HMR due to the crazy velocities those little suckers fire at, but it only lasts for 100 yards so the coolness is short lived. Lastly, I can find youtube videos all day of a Winchester .270 but nothing of a Remington 715 .270, mated with the low price I found, makes me worry about what I would be getting myself into. And no, I'm not buying a Winchester .270 because I do not have that sort of money. Below $400 please. I may wait for another weekly gun show North Texas has... Go see one for myself, see if I like how it feels and such. Dad speaks all this crap about buying a heavy barrel and this and that for my 10/22 but lets get real here, the thing shoots at velocity similar to a high performance barrel pump bb gun. My buddies barrel pump bb gun shoots at 1100 fps, neither of the two have much of any recoil, so a heavy barrel thinking you're going long range is like... no. Thats just me though! .270 WSM compared to two .17 Remington counter parts: The .17 rounds shoot pretty flat but lose too much energy. Voice your opinion, none pertaining to buying some other far off gun. If you want to recomend something else, make it a .270 please. More so interested on hearing about this guns qualities and its crappy parts.

hey man, I go to UTA too! If you're interested in the FSAE team I can show you around sometime....
