  1. max power and safe is on the opposite side of scale you know?
  2. 12:1 is ideal but not a safest way to go. Leaner is meaner is what I'm always told 11.5:1 is about lean as I would get with a CA 91 octane.
  3. some race gas is oxgenated fuel. It'll make your car run richer without A/F adjustment.
  4. exactly, so why go with heavier 50 trim rather than a lighter 60 trim or 57 trim? 60 trim would spool faster. I don't know for sure without the real number but I think there are more options than just a 50 trim. 50 trim really doesn't flow much at lower psi. 50trim is a good wheel. Specially for car like 1.8T VW and DSM's because they like high boost. 20-22 psi on pump. 28-30's on race gas. I don't think many L6 sees that much boost. And my car was 100% street car. I drove it everyday.
  5. The turbine will produce back pressure, more back pressure, less cfm, lb/min. Those maps are usually P trim and other T4 turbine wheels. Alot less pressure than T3 stage III wheel. And due to the thick blades on 50 trim, I think it's actually alittle bit heavier wheel than 60 trim. I'll go weight it today. what we need is a different turbo back to back dynos to really see the result. anyone with a 50 trim dyno? I got one for a 60-1/stageIII
  6. Yeah, it does look good on map. specially if you going for 20 psi. but got to also consider the turbine wheel too. with Stage III it won't flow like the map you listed. I've seen and had a 60-1 Zcar(s) and I still think it'll make more power than 50 trim.
  7. Well, 50 trim likes high boost, like in 20 psi up. I would go with 57 or 60 trim, they will make more power per psi than a 50 trim. If you look at the 50 trim, it's got alot thicker blades than the other compressor wheel. Just a thought.
  8. 7.88 would be in low 12's. really low. I've ran 7.81 in 1/8mi and ran 12.16 in 1/4mi. I don't pick up as much as RWD on the other end though.
  9. what was your 1/8 mi? that should tell you what it could have been with a good 3-4 shift.
  10. Step down on the heat range on the plugs. at 18 psi I bet the plugs are glowing hot and may be gap them down some. I think what you are feeling is blowing spark.
  11. Old school Profec B is great, the new one, I've heard of problems. I got the Blitz DSBC that was discountinued last year. Brand new one for $250 on ebay. Works great it's easy to use and can have up to 4 setting plus BC off. Just my 2 cents.
  12. The smoke you are talking about sounds more like the ringland problem than a blown HG.
  13. My buddy's Busa made 336WHP on Super 20G on pump gas. Anyway, the 56 trim out of GT series seems to be a real nice choice for any turbochagered cars.
  14. Disk potato, potato disk, all the same to me It's a T25 hydrid with GT28RS I think. Don't have the exact spec here. Won't mount on T3 flange so it'll be hard to use one on a L28ET. Holset HX40 looks promising though.
  15. I ran 13.30@106 with 2.1 60ft. 2650lb without me and 253RWHP. You guys are getting so much faster lately
  16. GT2528RS (???) aka potato disk is pretty popular for SR. 50 trim would do good too
  17. I've seen success with T3 .63 housing and a P-trim. I just learned that there are 3 different P-trims so choose wisely.
  18. To hold the hose, good ol' Walmart Aquanest hair spray does the trick.
  19. EGT is more effected by ignition timing which causes the turbo and manifold to glow. my2 cents
  20. I got one that hasn't even been open. shoot me an email @ yo2001@bellsouth.net
  21. the resictor will keep the boost signal clean basically rather than too much air going into the FMU when the engine is going into boost. Without it, you can get a stumble, miss under partial throttle.
  22. Don't forget to install the retrictor on signal line and a check valve on the bleeder line. my 2 cents
