  1. There is a way to fix that too when you take out the gauge out.
  2. The factory 78 gauge is not accurate. Mine reads like 16v all the time. 78 is internal reg.
  3. Plus there is a bolt behind the oil pump too.

No biggy. It rained out anyway I think. I'll try some other times. Who knows? I might go up there Sunday.
  5. How? LY motor needs to be tilted the other way to fit in the car property. Well, at least that's how it was in 70's race Z's. they had to tilt the motor other way and get an aftermarket bell housing to complete the swap. Well, no you don't need to take th oil pan off. be acreful not to tear the oil pan gasket.

I think I'll go if the weather permits. I can tell you when because I'll be making stop at LJ's. See you there. My car is 78 black 280Z
  7. Here is more info. Autozone P/N for the maxima alt is 14661. You should go get a core from junk yard because the core charge is like $65. $70 for the alt plus the $65 core is pricey. This is a pretty good info on the wires. http://www.zcarcreations.com/technical/lr160term.htm
  8. I don't have a picture but it's just like what you got except the cooling fan is internal on Maxima alt. I can draw you a diagram of how it should be hooked up. That's pretty simple too. the battery and the ground is same as 280z/280zx alt. the alternator charge lamp wire and the other wire just plugs up one way or another. When there is no charge light on after the two wires is hooked up(with the battery connected and key is on ON position), the wires are backward. You will need to find a shorter thrust bearing, which is behind the pulley and the fan on 280zx alt, that can be found at local import alternator shop. Or like me, grind the factory one down until it fits You can just email me if you still got my email. I think there were higher amp Nissan alternator at Autozone. I just got 90 amp because I didn't want to burn out the wires. I think highest they had was 110 amp.
  9. You can do a staight conversion with a 94 maxima 90 amp alternator. All you need is shorter thrust bearing and a harness from maxima or 300zx. I just converted mine last week.
  10. a couple of the water pump bolts have to come off I think. It has been awhile.
  11. the most power and the driveability is a two diffrent thing isn't it? I'm sure the SU would make more topend power but with narrower powerband. FI will be more driveable and with wider powerband. My 78 is pretty reliable after I got all the electrical bugs out. It cranks every time cold or hot.
  12. How to modify your Nissan and Datsun engine I got it and it's pretty informative.

Well, where would be nice. Steele? I would if everybody else will go. I went last weekend I was kind of disappointed with the result. If I go, LJ, I would like to arrange to borrow some BFG's
  14. Sealed power rings are what I got for my turbo motor.
  15. I have LJ. It's okay. when I got it, the MSA stuck thasher muffler and sounded like crap. But I heard they new comes with Dynomax so I guess it's pretty good.
  16. I founds this last night. www.perfectpower.com http://www.idaautomotive.com/ is the first US dealer. PRS 8 is on sale this month for $547 plus shipping. here is detail info on PRS8 http://www.idaautomotive.com/perfectpowerUSA.htm Anybody seen or heard of this product?
  17. you can get a longer rods than 133mm L24 rods. That might help some. I doubt you'll do 9k rpm without a full counter crank. Or you can do rotary
  18. I've heard straping the IC so the IC won't come apart. May be that's what you need
  19. I got a custom set from JE for $150 Can't beat that. BTW, how much are those pistons cost? Anybody have FJ or SR rods laying around?
  20. I hear that the 3G Supra IC is pretty good. Affordable too.
  21. Yap, 140mm rods I've not found a set yet but I did find a set of SR20DET rods are 136.3mm rods. the small end needs to be rebushed to 21mm because the new Nissan rods are usually 22mm. no biggy. RB pistonds are real short wrist pin height is only 30mm, stock L28 is like 38.1mm. With RB pistons, I'll be needing 140mm rods rebushed to 139mm with L28 crank, Or 137mm rods with LD28 crank. BTW I got my RB piston Spec if you want it.
  22. Heat reduction off the pistons. That's good for high boost car. No detonation. I guessing it's worth alot since they used you use them in turbo F1 cars.
  23. Alot of nissan parts are interchangable with little modification. Like I'm going to use RB26DET pistons with FJ20DET rods in my L28T motor. So, you can do it probably. Just search for all the specs of rods, pistons, crank, and the block.
  24. yeah, same turbo except the water cooling on thte 300zxt turbo. you would have to have thte turbo turned. check out the turbo/supercharger section on this website
