  1. I have the same exact problem with my Z. In fact sometimes it doesn't even rev above 4k rpm, when I moved the AFM around a bit it makes a difference. I actually had to tie it up so it stays in position.

  3. Not getting it anymore, I knew it was small hence why I asked. I just wanted something that spooled relatively fast. savage offered me the kit I was looking for a few months ago and I decided to take it since thats what I originally wanted.

  7. I just searched "Disco Potato", "GT28RS", "GT28 Turbo", "Garret GT28" and various other search terms and all I get are a bunch of KA and SR threads and even a VG thread. I'm just in the market for a turbo and wanted that spooled fast and the GT28RS is something I've used before. Just not in this application.
  8. Has anyone here ever used one of these before? I know they're amazing, and have used them on SR's and KA's but I've never used them on an L series and I was wondering if any of you had used them and how our engines react to them. I'm being offered two one thats .64 housing and the other one with .86. I'm really tempted to do it but I've noticed that no one here has really made a build with these bad boys. My current turbo is really bad right now and I'd like to keep something that has really fast spool times and when it comes to quick spooling the GT28RS I know does the job.

  11. So the turbo on my car is making weird chirpy noises so I'm pretty much guessing it's dead. One of my friends is in desperate need of money and since he knows I needed a turbo he offered me this one and told him to throw him a price. I don't want to lowball, especially since he's a friend. However, at the same time I don't even know if this would be a good turbo for my application. I don't plan on building the meanest L28et around, 350-400rwhp tops and even that's pushing it. Anyways, here's the specs and pics. T3/T04E 60 Trim, .63A/R turbine housing, .60A/R compressor I don't really know the brand.

  13. Thanks. I figured all I would need to do was get the engine and the mounts. I have plenty of hook ups, but I didn't think this would run me over 5k.

  16. Man, I'm torn about it. I really like both, I even thought about swapping this L28et into my parts car or using the thousand I'd waste on the LS1 and beefing up the L28et. Seriously, this is a really hard decision.
  17. Just realized I probably should have posted it in the general s30 section so it wouldn't be so biased. I need both sides of the argument, I love my L28et yet the thought of an LS1 is also nice. Unsure of what I'm gonna do. I like both engines.
  18. So I might be going to the dark side... Last night I was partying with some friends at Hooters, they're all car guys and suddenly the subject of my car comes up. We go outside and I show them my little Z, and I mention what it has and how much the L28et can do. They ask me what other swaps you can do with the s30z and I mention that the LS1 is a popular one but that I didn't do it because of the lack of funds. That's when someone I had just met (he was a friend of a friend) suddenly mentions that he has a complete LS1 swap and he's willing to part with it for 1k. It has 70k miles, and everything is there. It was running before it left the Camaro, the only downside is that it's an automatic so I would have to find a T56 on my own. I want to see if I can buy everything minus the tranny and get some knocked off the price, but chances are he's only going to sell everything together. So here's the plan: $350.00 For JTR mounts $1000.00 Complete LS1 swap $500.00 Emergencies That's pretty much the budget for now, I was lucky when I bought my car because one of the previous owners was seeking a v8 swap so the car has been reinforced to take the power and not twist. I know I have yet to factor in suspension and brakes, but I'll probably be buying used of of here to save money since I'm a broke college student. Does this all sound good?

  21. So I finally found a 75-76 gas tank to swap for the Z, the problem is it's rusty on the inside and the rust needs to go before I pop it in. I called a few shops since I know just flushing it won't do the job and they all quoted me 200-300 dollars. Does anyone have any idea on how I can get this out myself? I got the tank for free, so wasting a little bit of money isn't that bad. I just don't want to spend 200+ on one when I can just get a fuel cell. I searched around and all I found was instructions on how to fix motorcycle tanks, but I don't know if it's the same material and if it would work at all. I'd love to get my 260z to finally work right, it's a real pain having an L28et and a carburated fuel tank.
  22. I saw it on ebay and I was tempted to buy it since my tach's bad. But theres really no reason to waste my money since my car can't even get up that high, lol.
