  1. Sorry to bug you guys again, but I ran into something and I really need some help. So yesterday I cut the boot on the AFM, apparently this also used to go somewhere and it popped out when I took out the AFM. I ended up using a new intake hose for the AFM to connect to the turbo. But now I can't even get the car to move due to this hose that is now disconnected. Sorry for the huge pics, figured I'd post multiple ones so you'd know exactly what I was talking about. If anyone has a diagram for the early 260z fusebox, that'd be awesome too. The only one I found was for a late 280zx and I'm unsure if they're different or not. And I'd like to get my headlights working again lol.

  4. So my AFM is in a pretty bad area and I don't think it's getting enough air so it ends up choking, backfiring and not letting me get any boost at all. The car starts dying and won't get higher than 2500ish rpm. Jeffer949 showed me how he did his AFM and I was thinking about using hsi method of moving the AFM back by cutting the boot in half or cutting the boot altogether so the AFM would sit farther back and actually get air since it's obviously not getting enough by the radiator. Thoughts? Also changing oil, sparkplugs, sparkplug cables, AFM filter, pcv valve, and pcv valve filter. Doing everything I can to get the car running at maximum stock efficiency before I go crazy with all the cool stuff I got for it. All of you who know my car as unreliable are in for a treat, I've been working on getting everything good so my wiring is now really nice.
  5. Thanks for the detailed response man! The other starter's solenoid broke off while I was swapping them so that options out. I'm using the one with the cone now, lol. Might be that the battery is bad but I doubt it...but it could be since it was in the car accident. I have a spare battery I got from Autozone so I'll see if I can get that charged when I go get the alternator tested. I wonder if my electric fan has anything to do with it...I don't think it should really since I always turn it off, but it's been acting up lately. It's a lot weaker nowadays then when I first got the car with it. My friends touched a lot of things they shouldn't have while we were fixing the car, I don't even have headlights now (they're connected). They don't turn on when they should. Guess it's time to redo everything.
  6. Well right now the battery is drained, but prior to this it was perfect. After my accident I decided I would clean up the wiring and swap both the starter and alternator off my other car. My old starter was bad and the alternator I used to have had the main source (screw looking thing where you connect stuff, sorry I'm bad with terminology) burned out so sometimes I wouldn't get current through my car. The wiring I still left the same, the only thing I did was make sure everything was new so it shouldn't really be a problem. I'm wondering if maybe I might have wired up something wrong on the starter which could be causing this (the starters were different yet they still worked) but then I don't think I'd be able to get the car started period. Both alternators look basically the same with little differences, the only difference I really found was the lack of this sphere with a yellow cable on it which went from the main source and then connected elsewhere on the old alternator. I was guessing that this was the external regulator but I really don't know. If I hook up the jumper cables to my dads car and jump it, the car works fine. It doesn't even really die when it's running, the problem only happens when I turn off the car and then I drain all the battery turning it on. In fact, it's so weak that if I don't turn off my electric fan right after turning off the car it'll turn off by itself. I'm going to get the alternator tested, I guess. Chances are I'm going to buy another one anyway though.
  7. Hmm...well I swapped the alternator off my 82 motor and put one off my old 79 and I can't seem to hold charge.
  8. Your repair was much more professional. All I did was remove the headlight bucket, hammer down what was bent and then replace the hood and bucket.
  9. I had a very similar situation, HOA's took my car without giving me a 24 hour notice. I had my car under a cover so I was under the impression that they couldn't even check under the tarp to see if it was legal under the State of Florida's rules.
  10. NA L28 alternator the same as the turbo one? I got the whole while I'm at it bug and I'm fixing all my wiring and I figure I can just swap my alternator instead of buying a new one. I searched and couldn't really find an answer.
  11. Thanks, that's what I wanted to hear. I got in contact with someone here in Orlando who said he'd give me a front clip for 50 bucks. It's not the best in the world but you can't beat the price and it sure looks better than what I have.
  12. Are they all the same across the board? Something really unfortunate happened today, my boost spiked while I was cornering and I crashed. It was my fault for using such a cheap boost controller, I don't blame anyone else. Gladly no one but me and my ego were hurt. I'm in pain seeing my Z how it is. I was wondering if the 280z fenders and hood were compatible with my early model 260z.

  14. I really don't know how fast she was going, I really wish I had a picture. The thing was completely destroyed in the passenger rear. When she calls me I'll take some pictures or something. I mean, the only thing I need to do is switch bumpers and get a new paintjob, which I was due for anyways since my bumpers have rust and I needed a new paintjob anyway. I just sucks, I was on my way to leave my little brother off at his counselor for my parents divorce so yeah. lol, poor little guy.
  15. Private property, no officer was sent out. "The Florida no-fault system really is in regards to medical payments. This means the insurance company covering your car will make payments for your bodily injury claims regardless of who was at fault in an accident. The property damage done to your vehicle should still be covered by the at-fault party." I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get blamed...old lady in a beater saturn vs teen in a sports car.

  17. Insane. I'm just really ticked off about the Z. I doubt my insurance or her insurance will give me anything and since I'm the teenager and shes the 60 year old lady I'm the one who's going to get blamed.
  18. Accidents can happen anywhere. This happened as I was reversing out of my house. I was not even going fast, I was just reversing and this lady came out of nowhere way above the posted speed limit. I was looking back and everything, yet she still hit me. Her car is pretty much totaled though, she has no rear bumper and negative camber like a VIP car. I'm pretty pissed off, my neck hurts. I was with my little brother. The only damage is a scratch on the paint and obviously the bumper. I hate it. I'm gonna have to go with the no bumper look, since my front bumper was bad already. I love the bumpers on the early 260z and early 240z but nooooo they won't let me have it

  20. Learn a little bit about your VG. The single turbo can make some serious money at the same cost that a swap would run you. There are plenty of people like 1SickZ with insane VGT builds.
  21. Jeffer949 is a solid guy, no need to bash on him. He explained the circumstances and it's obvious that it was just a misunderstanding. This guy is no Nick Hogan, I've looked at previous posts and how he's worked on his Z and I don't see why anyone like him would do something so retarded. He even said it himself he did the turns one at a time. These cars have very little safety equipment, it was an honest mistake. Even if he had done it on purpose and lost control over "showing off", don't you think he would have learned due to the damage he suffered? Honestly, who the hell do you think you are to demand proof of him learning his lesson? Honestly, please SHUT THE ♥♥♥♥ UP.

  24. Dang man, I feel real bad you were just talking to me the other day about how I could fix my Z. I know theres a series one 240z for sale here in Orlando that you might want to take a look at. However, the car doesn't look so bad. It's just an excuse to make it lighter! Get those fiberglass/carbon fiber fenders and hood! Also, some fender flares will cover up a lot.
