  1. It's the rear, and they must be extended because I've tried with no luck to figure out some position to get it in. Well now I have a lead, thanks. ETA; Ahaaa.. cut a hole in the backing plate.. well, that's about what I expected.. thanks for the write up.
  2. Yeah, taking them out is easy when you cut them in half.. But seriously, did they think nobody would ever need to replace them easily?! Whats the easiest way? Any options besides getting the spindle puller?
  3. May God watch over you and your family, and take care of your father.
  4. Good idea welding the nut on the gland nut. I might just weld a large nut on for ease of assembly or diss assembly.
  5. I like it, looking forward to some more pictures, perhaps larger.
  6. Wow.. a cheap truck would have saved them a lot of money.
  7. I think I've managed to get weld burns on every part of my body except my eye balls, and other "sensitive" areas.. been lucky.
  8. I would try practicing on some thicker material, perhaps 18gauge, and practice a fillet weld on a T-joint. Hold the welder so the nozzle is at a 45* angle, and then tilt it slightly so you are "pushing" the wire. You keep the weld puddle 50% on each piece. If you're right handed, I would weld from right to left. This all happens very quickly, but when you start welding; -Start your puddle, try for a 1/4" weld. -Try stitching/whip. Once you have started your puddle, move forward, then back into the puddle. IE. 1/4" ahead, 1/8" back, 1/4" ahead, 1/8" back. etc.. Keep time like a metronome. Say, 60bpm = 60 cycles of moving ahead and moving back. The shorter the whip, the less chance of undercut and inconsistency. -Move at the speed that keeps the weld 1/4". -Practice more, you can stack your welds after you've welded one pass. You don't weld directly over the other weld, rather on the edge of the weld. -After you've welded you can learn a lot from looking at it. The discoloration shows an even weld travel speed, etc. The brown smoke to one side of the weld shows I wasn't exactly at a 45* angle to both parts, or the smoke would be even on both sides of the weld. You can see the motion I moved, as the weld has textured >>>>> as I whipped it. And practice practice practice.
  9. Not yet Gotta get back at it. Just was watching the newer Darius 240z vids, and that BJhines car is sick!
  10. I found out what a 500hp v8 will do to the wrong drive shaft bolts.. stretched bolts, loose drive shaft.. weird noises. Lucky, that was all, no drive shaft poking through the floor to say "Hi".
  11. There are tons of awesome garages here.. Mine isn't awesome yet, but I want to work on that. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=7
  12. Looks like the one I had back in the day.
  13. OMG OMG OMG OMG!! You just put a huge smile on my face.
  14. Damn, looking good! You sure are making progress! I'm thinking I really have to get the motor and 6spd in right away on my LQ9 project. (I say that every year.) If I can do that, maybe the other things will follow quickly.
  15. Very cold outside.

  16. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.. Maybe I'll have mine done by then.. lol broken record..
  17. Wow, shooting the .50 would be a deal.. 5$ a round is cheaper, or about what it would cost you to feed one if you had your own!!
