  1. From what I have read on this forum you need to reduce timing more when you up the boost. Try reducing the timing another 8 degrees and see if it still pings. If it stops, then increase timing 2 degress at a time until it pings again. Try the colder spark plugs and reducing the spark plug gap also.
  2. Ok Cool, I knew I had seen it before. I asked about the changes because if it were mine that would be all I would have done with it. I like the color package myself. Great minds think alike.
  3. There are pictures of this car in the forums here somewhere with those tail lights and the yellow paint, with white stripes and the pop up sunroof. Had trophies on the front of it in the pictures. Are you going to change the rear bumper from the flat piece of metal it had on it before?. I like the pics of the rear of it. Are you changing the wheels on it?.
  4. Congrats on getting it figured out. Yeah, feels good to get it going doesn't it?. Now the fun begins, Tuning.
  5. I suggested using the starting fluid to see if it would run, since it is supposed to be easier to run off the starting fluid then gas. Was thinking if his fuel settings aren't close it will be hard to start. Plus less chance of fouling plugs using fluid. Never heard of gas being easier to fire than starting fluid before.
  6. I am with Pyro, Turbo swap your car and you will have the best of both worlds in my opinion.
  7. Have you tried spraying some starting fluid in the intake to get the engine running first?.
  8. You stated previously you were not sure of the status of the turbo dist you are using. So check all your wiring again and then check the dist. In my opinion you should be able to turn the key to on and the fuel pump relay should click. If that is not happening and you have no power to your pump, you may have wired the relay up incorrectly. The relay is bad or your connections are not good. So re-check everything even if you have done it 10 times before.
  9. Have you tried putting in lower numbers in your VE table yet?. I think your Wideband may be messed up from having the engine run so rich. Just try putting in lower numbers in the bins it idles at. If you go to low you will notice the engine idle lower and lower. If your atanding at the back of the car and your eyes are watering then the engine is running way too rich so yes, you need to lean out the fuel tables If you pull the vacuum line to the regulator check to see if there is fuel in that vacuum hose. If so the regulator is bad, so get another one. You can buy a cheap fuel pressure gauge from harbor freight if there is one in your area. About $15.00.
  10. The third sticky down from the top of this forum has them. Says Megasquirt Map sharing right in the title.
  11. With the key turned on the fuel pump relay should click so check why that is not working right first.
  12. Pressure should be in the 30's. Look for any changes in megatune with anything mentioned, when it's running.
  13. I am going to go with Rolling parts on this one, what is the fuel pressure?. I can't open up zipped files at work so I can't see your MSQ. Does the timing change in Megatune when this happens?. Does dwell change?. Is your wideband still good?. While the engine is running wiggle check all your connections to make sure you have good solid connections. Do this inside the car to at all the connections you made for megasquirt.
  14. Since it shows you are in oregon i will guess it's still cold out. What are your warm up enrichment settings?. Bigphil has a video on youtube, showing how to set the settings up.
  15. I like it so keep us updated with pics. I only closed the bumper holes on my 74. I don't like the looks of a totally smooth rear valance. I think they look better with something to look at. I like some ( Stubble ) back there. lol
  16. So will this happen when just idling?. If you drive it what happens?.
  17. Thanks Meph, So is the paint sold in quart containers or gallons?.
  18. Looks good, More info please about the paint and process.
  19. Mikesz, Yes I am still using an 83 N/A 5spd. The difference with my setup is I have an 83 N/A engine with a turbo added on. My compression ratio is higher and I have like no turbo lag when I accelerate. During hard acceleration I was in and out of first so quick it made that gear almost useless to me. Now with your turbo engine you will have some lag and what Pyro pointed out may be better for you. You asked about a 3.54 with an n/a 5spd and that's what I ran for a few years and Liked it a lot in my car. I have a 3.70 lsd in the car now and like it a lot. You said you wanted your turbo to spool up even quicker, but I was taught you want the turbo to be able to spool up longer. To get all the benefits from it, Not Quicker for a street car with a stock turbo. That's also if the turbo is stock.
  20. I have not been up there in 3 years. Every time I say I am going up there I get side tracked, my young kids take up a lot of my free time. I will come up when I can. Hopefully. lol
  21. Yes you can add the turbo to the n/a block. The compression is a little higher on the n/a and you need a few extra parts. Plus you need to decide how your going to run the engine. N/A electronics, Turbo electronics, or a standalone engine management system. Do a search for N/A turbo or adding a turbo and enjoy reading.
