  1. so it clicks then right? hmm.... I found it http://www.zcarsource.com/content/p/9/pid/47982/catid/6975_7002/73
  2. another thing is, now, i'm not that positive on the L series, but I think you'll need a line bore as well. I'd say it's worth it though. Rebuild the engine a little beefier and you're off! I think you'll just need the re-ring kit and a new crank. My dad has seized bearings on his race engine (a 66vw) and all he had to do was polish up the crank, linebore the case, and pop in a new set of bearings. I'm not really sure if it damages the crank much unless it's severe (sounding like it chucked a rod)
  3. a lot of kids have the "If they can do it, I can do it!" mentality, and they don't actually THINK "hey, these guys are pro's that have trained for MANY years" I've had my run in with people like that. I know my limits quite well, but i suppose a lot of kids haven't had that smack in the face of going upside down in the rain due to hydroplaning into a ditch yet. (i was going under the speed limit, but the car spun a full 360 and slid into a very steep ditch, it was hopeless, even though i managed to get the car straight)
  4. if only those 3 wires are hooked on i'd say it's a potentiometer. It controls the fan speed right?
  5. *smiles* I think I'll be very happy owning a Z in arizona ^^
  6. I could seriously use a list like that. I'm hoping to get a 240z from an old mechanic next month.
  7. I've got a bunch of 20oz co2 tanks for paintball. I've actually used parts of a paintball gun (the asa, where the bottle screws in) as a make shift extinguisher. Basically it's just a metal bit that pops the co2 open. It was an emergency situation where a friend was soldering or something, and a somehow a book fell on his soldering iron, bursting into flames. I grabbed the bottle and sprayed it out with the co2 XP I've got a normal electrical fire extinguisher under the sink that I used to keep handy when I had an old bug though.
  8. Haha, sweet setup there. It's nice to see a draw through on something OTHER than a vw. I've never really understood if there were any advantages, except maybe the fuel/air mixture is pressurized inside the turbo? Or maybe it had something to do with the when you let off the gas..... Anyways, you need to upload a vid when you get that wastegate pipe made up!
  9. True. I suppose I just read your post wrong when you said what you reffered to as affordable ^^ Oh well. I was working too much today so my minds a bit tired.
  10. XP I'm watching the entire episode now. Part 3 with Jodie Kidd is funny! (and she's FAST around their track XP)
  11. yeah, but i ment something more handheld maybe? I dunno XP just rambling a little on my thoughts i suppose
  12. When the 240z came out in the US, it cost 3600 dollars, and offered the performance and styling of the jaguar's and ferrari's. I think that's pretty damn affordable ^^ Not only that, it had unheard of reliability compared to cars of the time if I'm not mistaken XP
  13. Well, I talked to the owner of the car I want, and I talked to him a good hour. He's a 60y/o 300lb man ^^ I had a fun time talking. The car doesn't have the ac, it has electronic ignition, it has a different head with a bit less compression (i'm guessing the E88 maybe?) and he hasn't driven it much in 4 years, but since he's a master tech, he HAD to keep it in perfect running order. I'm trying to think of things I could strip out of it to make it lighter. I think maybe I'll strip out the interior and cut up my own lighter interior. as well as ALL of the sound deadening (I love noise)
  14. Jermey Clarkson is awesome. And Top Gear is the best show out there ^^ Too bad I don't get BBC Since I don't have cable ^^
  15. to bad there isn't some sort of sensor like a stud finder for cars, where it uses a magnet to detect the strength of the field (like a hall effect sensor) and calculate the field into a distance between the surface you're touching, and the metal below.
  16. his injury was because he didn't have the hal system or whatever it was, where they strap your head to the seat. I think the biggest difference is the material their made of, and things like graphics and ventilation. along with the range of vision. Honestly, i wouldn't mind buying the cheapest one as long as it met or exceeded the standards, and was comfortable.
  17. true, buy if I wanna go with the hassel of taking off the belt, I might as well go all the way and pull the entire system.
  18. lol it's not in my sig YET, but hopefully by next month it will be!! I'm hoping to go to the guy's house in a few weeks to actually check it out. If it runs good like he says (no smoke startin, no rough idle, decently clean looking, clean oil etc, the usual) and the frame looks good, i'm gonna buy it. he's asking 1650 for it ^^ If the frame is all good I'd say it's a good deal (it's an AZ car so I don't think rust will worry me)
  19. First person to figure it out ^^ Kudo's to you. It's also my name (maxwell that is)
  20. If it weighs that much, I think i'd rather dump the ac if it even falters for a second. I'd rather free up some hp rather then spend money to loose it.
  21. Wow, a saturn, whoda thunk XP I'm going to think it's safe to assume your name is max? That's my name ^^ I'm trying to buy that. I'm giong to check it out in a few weeks to see it's condition, if it all checks out to me, i'll buy it around this time next month ^^
  22. GEEZE! Give that guy a set of 10in slicks so he can get into the 8's!! O__O
  23. haha, in that case, fab up your own set ^^ It's always nice using tools that you know you've made. The reason why I mentioned the thing about the suspension, is that I used to own an old bug, And I worked on them a lot. The worse thing in the world is having someone get in it while you're working under it while it's up on the stands. Even worse when the guy who would get inside weighs 200lbs I've always been pretty cautious about people going in a car while i'm under them. I just get nervous. When you make them, make sure ya post them up. Im' sure if you used a set of old drums it would work pretty well. Just hack apart the drums and weld up a bracket to put onto the stand.
  24. WOW!! That's an insane run. especially the 2 wheel action near the beginning!
  25. yeah, but that's still big compared to a 3.0 My dad has the original 283 in his 66 impala, with 400k on it ^^ but 283 is like 4.0l compared to a 3.0l That's a BIG difference. chevy produced the 283 i think from the 50's till '66, then in 67 they went to bigger and better things
