I think its the same on a 280z but Iv never looked at one so I cant say 100% but theres an upper and lower cable, the upper is a shorter cable going from the speedo to the lower cable near the firewall and then the lower cable goes from there to the tranny. Hope this gives some direction lol.

Unless your car is over heating Id say your thermostat is working just fine. lol I have limited knowledge compared to some of the geniuses here on hybrid but (unfortunately) failing water pumps and destroyed radiators I do know all about, so just junk that pump and put a new one on and your good to go and welcome to HybridZ

Then you should start with removing your fan/fan clutch/pulley to see where its coming from for sure. If it really is coming from the shaft I would junk it for sure. Ya, the local autozone/shucks/napa/ect. should have them for about that.

Prob about $30-$40 at the local parts store.

Id pull it off and buy a new one. If its coming from behind the pulley its coming from around the shaft and I wouldnt say thats good lol. I had a shaft break and send my whole fan into my radiator.

What part of the water pump is it leaking from?

For starters "not currently running" is a pretty vague description that woulnt get any useful info. With your problems in mind the search feature is very helpful as most problems have been covered at least once, if not then a post describing your problems will do the trick. the better you describe them the more help you can get. (help us help you) Also, unless your sure you have plenty of extra cash for the Z (babys and a wife get expensive) I would hold off for a bit for a better deal and a better time, 1k is to much for a car that dosent run.. but thats just my 2 cents.

Kind of an odd question but how hot dose the front cover of an L28et get? I had mine bead blasted and I want to clear coat it, is it to hot for rattle can clear or do I need to powdercoat it?
