  1. You guys worry way too much! Everything clears fine Here's some more pics, things are wrapping up, I have a fine tuned punch list, and hopes are high to have it done at the end of the month..
  2. I'm running a 255/40-17 in that picture, but my DR's i am putting on are going to be 275/40-17's, and I will probably have to raise the car up a bit to fit them.
  3. Been doing some work. Got the cage installed new seats in, hot side of the turbo done, all the rear end parts have been collected and is ready to be put together.
  4. At least you admit it There just aren't enough road courses around here to justify me needing to set up a car for a road course lol, mine is strictly for the street, and the 1/4 mile when feeling like cranking off a legal pass.. I didn't mean to sound like a winny or anything, I was just on LS1tech the other day and there was a few posts made by some folks that sought awful poorly of this site for said reasons. Maybe there should be a few different sections added, specifically for drag, road course, auto-x, street driving, etc, and the importances of each can be highlighted there. Just a thought.
  5. 17's are where it's at IMO. For the things I do, an 18 would be retarded, and anything under a 17 would look, well, lamesauce. All I do with my junk is daily drive it, and planning on taking it to the track once the new rear end/turbo setup is wrapped up.. And big wheels slowing you down? True, but when you have enough power going to those that it doesn't really make a difference anymore, it will be just fine. And your Ferrari/Lamborghini/Veyron, nobody would buy them unless they had fitting wheels - hence the 19's/20's, do you think a 15" wheel would look attractive on a Z06? Nope. I'd rather lose 1mph trap, than look like a homeboy on my 15" daytons with truck tires. A fitting wheel on a daily driver, is awesome. What some fail to realize is that 90% of people on this website don't hardcore track their car, and although I understand bumpsteer and roll center can get to degrees of just being dangerous, I have seen more than enough people stay away from this site, just because of the harsh attitudes on "car setup".
  6. That was me that made the foxbody headers.. those are turned forward towards the front of the car for a turbo setup. Just either use stock F-body manifolds, or buy shorty's from Jagsthatrun.com and avoid all the problems. You LQ4 injectors wont work with an LS1 style intake, you are going to need LS1 style injectors. They are taller with a different plug. The cam - read on LS1tech, find out what your goals are and what your setup is going to be, there will be an answer on there, but it mostly comes down to how much cam you want/can stand, with a few variables like LSA. Oil pan - just use an F-body pan, no sense in spending where it's not necessary.
  7. I've done the LQ4 - T56 swap, if I was you, I would have 6 grand ready to spend on a swap. It can get pricey when you least expect it. If you pay over 2500 for any LQ4 and T56, you're getting ripped. I got my LQ4 for 800$, and found the T56 out of a 04 GTO for 900$, but they usually run in the 1500 range. If you aren't running over 600 rwhp, you don't need ARP rod bolts. Sounds like you need to visit www.LS1tech.com and do some reading in the hybrids and conversions section. A lot of info will be found there, and if you search here, you will also find a wealth of info.
  8. I was trying to restrain myself from posting these here, but here goes. Motor and tranny are not in yet, so the front is still high, but you get the point.. haha.. let the haters hate about the ride height, I think it's sick! Oh and a BIG THANKS!!! to Roodypoochris for getting these wheels made! They fit PERFECT! For all that would like to know, I cycled the suspension travel as far as I could, and the tire never hit the flare.
  9. Painted the engine bay back to black, but got all the suspension on, still need to finish the front struts, but so far it's looking Sick!
  10. It's been a really busy past couple days since I decided to clean the engine bay up. It's taken a shitload of time to get it all down to the metal so I could fill some ****, fix some ****, and get rid of some ****.. but it was definitely worth it. I was tired of the ass-black paint I had, so I joined the army! and went with a horrid looking Camo green. Going to do a sort of theme with this, wrinkle black and camo green, should look kinda cool once I get everything back in it, right now it just looks like *******. All in all, the 32 year old engine bay proved to be a mother fucker of a sort - It was Zero fun, Zero. Got some other goodies in, and confirmation that the real good **** will be here tomorrow morning. Supposed to receive coilovers - camber plates - 2 remaining shocks - and the cage, so tomorrow it's time to start g'ntfd with this project. V-band ****, along with some ARP flywheel bolts. And wheel studs, so my lugnuts wont be sticking 3/4" past my studs anymore.. LOL
  11. "OK, all I am going to do is pull the motor, install my ARP rod bolts, and clean up some wiring and lines.." FML, and the things I get myself into.. haha.. spent about 3 hours alone just sanding, grinding, removing spot welded brackets, welding up holes, and I haven't put much of a dent in it. The bomb ass can of camo green is a sign of things to come.. haha.. I figured why not give it a hint of flair underneath the hood. Time to perty it up in there a bit. I have to remove the heads to throw my 317's back on, so I'll be cleaning up and painting the block just black, and taking the acc's to the car wash and beating them clean. Hopefully I can spend a good chunk of tomorrow trying to get this engine bay smoothed up, rust free'd, and ready for some rattle bomb.
  12. Uhh... wow. Heading out to the garage to reinforce my fuel rails...
  13. Got some more goodies in the mail today Textralia OZ700 clutch- Tokico Illuminas- Enough stainless to run my hotside-
  14. Got the flange portion of my headers finished up. I am NOT A PRO WELDER - but I have a welder and two hands... haha.. The LS flange had holes that were, just, a tad, bigger.... Tacked the top side of the header, heated it, expanded it, tacked again, rinse wash and repeat. Put them on really quick to make sure everything still clears, still need to modify the collector area to make them exit where I want them to. Overall, they are sealed, and I am happy. If you dont like them then call the whamber-lamps. I know that same were worried that a header pointing straight up, couldn't go forward instead haha.. I was worried as well.. but I think I pulled it off. Not too worried about the flow characteristics of these obviously, but honestly I really dont think it would make a difference on a boosted car. I'm just glad I made a header work, and actually fit between everything, and stubbed the pipe out to where I can continue with the pipe run whenever the stainless+Vband flanges get here, from that point it's going to be a waiting game on the turbo arriving because I dont really know where it is going to fit lol.. ModularTurbo said that the 76's were on backorder for about 2 weeks, and that was last week. The fit was very tight! I would have waited and bought a mandrel bent section, but honestly there was no way for it to have any radius at all.. so this will have to do. Other good news, my 2 other shocks and rollcage will be here next Tuesday, so I can section my struts and get them welded back up, and start getting the rollcage installed.
  15. Went to Pull a Part today and retrieved all for around $160... One 1991 Q45 VLSD differential, 2 CV axles, and a Q45 driveshaft, along with some MAC shorty foxbody headers. Just waiting on some select parts to install all of this
  16. Hey now, the union takes care of my ass.. lol, dont really know of any other occupation that would allow me to be 21 and own a house, a brand new bike, build a car, and have a ♥♥♥♥ truck Update - recieved TWO shocks! haha..
  17. Going to pick up some MAC unequal length shorty 5.0 headers in indy this weekend, along with hopefully a Q45 diff and axles.
  18. Well, here we go. I have ordered the following so far - Modern Motorsports Stage 3 front big brake kit - Ground control Coilovers - Techno Toy Tuning Camber plates ( all 4 corners ) - Tokico Illumina shocks - Brokedick racing 6 point rollcage - Modern Motorsports Q45 CV shaft adapters - Master Power's new T76 Q-trim turbo - -Still need to order/obtain - Q45 differential - Q45 CV's - Get a custom driveshaft made - Maybe switch my T56 for a TH350 - Some sticky ass tires - I should have enough work on my hands to last a few long weekends
  19. Didn't know there was any local Z forums, i've only seen 2-3 other Z's in my life with stuff done to them lol..
  20. I dunno if I mentioned this before, but MAC unequal length headers, with LS flanges of course, are a perfect fit for a turbo setup when you want them forward and up.
  21. I believe I have the 00, I thought the only difference was the material they were built with, I could be very wrong though.
