  1. All you have to do to the 5.3 heads is get the intake side valve opened up to a 2.00, so the 317's valves will fit right in, like i did. In the end it should flow like a 317, but have 11:1 compression, and you dont have to pester with getting custom sized pushrods. The smaller intake valve was the only setback to the 5.3 heads, and with this done, problem solved. Why do you think Texas-Speed sells 5.3 heads instead of 6.0 heads
  2. For the price difference of a 5.3 and a 6.0, you would be shooting yourself in the foot with a HUGE gun right now to "save" money with the 5.3. Just think about pricing of cam and heads... I know this price difference vs power difference was DEFINITELY worth it to me. I have a buddy that has been running a STOCK (ARP rod bolts only) LQ4 with a turbo setup on it in a foxbody, and he just laid down 630rwhp, and has been driving it daily for over a year. There isn't one thing wrong with a rod bolted LQ4 until you are making serious power. He cranked it to 13 psi to race a busa the other day and the motor still purrs like a kittin after 10+ races with the dude. LQ4 will be your best power per price motor, unless you can find an LQ9 for cheap. Dont waste your hustle with a 5.3, no reason to unless a $400 difference isn't worth some major power to you. LT1's are tree fiddy chebby motors, and yes, they are, from my personal and multiple freinds experiences, hard to get power out of. Friend with a 70 trim setup on his laid down 446rwhp and 511tq, IMO, look at the difference from that and 630rwhp on the SAME turbo on an LQ4 and that right there would be my eye opener on power potential.
  3. Ram lvl 3 clutch with a "F1 racing" lighweight flywheel. Stock would be fine though.
  4. I JUST swapped heads on it, went to 5.3 truck heads with 2" intake valves, which bumps the comp to 11:1 instead of 9.2?:1 Bought the heads with machinework for 260 bucks..... When I was small cam only (TSP 228R) and sanderson headers, I was hanging right beside ~124 trap cars... Here is me runnin a 10.8 @ 126 trap GTO when I was cam only.
  5. I have an LS and I get more compliments than anything. Its not like if you dont have an RB your car is going to be a pile of JUNK!
  6. Some people need to slow down and think about ♥♥♥♥, seriously. LQ4 6.0 Iron block LS motor weighs approx ~80 lbs more than an LS1, can be had for around 800 bucks for a LONGBLOCK... and have the displacement advantage. Get an LQ4 - good cam and head package, rod bolts, and you will be SET for THOUSANDS cheaper than an LS1 or RB26 setup. My LQ4 swapped heads and cam car is my DAILY DRIVER, and starts and runs SMOOTH EVERY DAY. - unless your JDUM at heart and just have to have that straight 6.
  7. Just LQ4 swap it, and dont look back. I dont see any reason why the LT1 junk would fit better than an LS based motor. You will regret going LT motor once you want power and dont feel like changing opti-spark - the plusses of an LS motor are endless.
  8. I hate the bumpers. Wrap them up and ship them to my house.
  9. Had it happen with a can of AC recharge stuff.. cracked my window and the can went under the seat. Had no clue how it happened until weeks later LOL..
  10. I make upper 300's and only broke the aftermarket Zerk'd U-Joints. I bought stock axles with stock U-joints for both sides and have given them hell on the street and on the track with street tires. Lots of clutching action and they still haven't grenaded.
  11. uh, dont gamble? Ever think of consulting a professional about your problem? lmao..
  12. VG's (Shark Fins) have been discussed on here quite a bit. Most likely his did not come off of a MR, you can buy them individually. Do a search and you will find everything out about them on S30's that you need to know.
  13. All LS1 pulleys. You will need a bracket to mount the alternator lower.. You need to search a little bit, with the search function. I know for a fact that my build thread on here covers this. LS1tech.com could be your best friend as well.
  14. Speak and you shall recieve - These videos suck, the cameraman didn't get our only solid run on camera, and 1 of these races i missed 3rd, and the other one we seen a piggy.. scary.. lol This was a 2000 SS camaro - Heads - cam - exhaust - tune.. pretty fast car.
  15. Awesome - yeah if you are running that low of a stall then the cam will be perfect for you.
  16. Yeah - using a LS1 intake, need an LS6. Best time before mods or being tuned - 8.3 @ 85 After - 8.0 @ 92 Im on some crappy street tires, so the best I can do with the current setup - and had two halfway clogged injectors from a paper filter coming apart when I ran the quarter... 1.9 60ft 8.0 1/8th @ 92mph 12.3 1/4 @ 114 I have ran right behind a 10.8 second - 125 trap GTO on the street, so I would imagine after I cleaned out the injectors for the 5th time.. lol., it feels so much better now that its clean. But when its all running right it is around a low 120 trap car which should be good for a mid-high 11 sec pass on a tire. I got my camera back so i'll have to get some videos with my buddies GTO soon. Here is his car at pinks.- If you are going to be running a stall I definitely reccomend a bigger cam - it will like the RPMs.. My size cam is more for mid range.. Torquer V.2 would be a good choice if I went auto..
  17. Resurrected my thread from the dead! haha... Back then it was a stock motor - headers and lightweight flywheel only, open MAF and no tune!! hahaha... Now it is all sealed up with a new exhaust setup - TSP 228R cam - Tuned by the local guru - JTR air intake setup, and thats about it.
  18. Called Johns Cars - got a new driveshaft on the way free of charge - other than having to buy it and wait on sending my old one back to recieve my refund. Thanks John - and Auxilary
  19. My transmission yoke doesn't look ANYTHING like that.. Great.
  20. Halfway white - Been white for around a year.
  21. That is the infamous Ron Tyler (RTz) Differential mount - I also just got my hands on one Nice piece man
  22. Mine is fine as well, other than a transmission yoke fitment issue. Is there a part number or anything on your tranny yoke that you can identify?
  23. Make sure you dont have one of these sitting on the back of the motor..
